Lucia needs to be the new Irma Bunt for this DC era. She total had Bond in her grip and could be a real kick in the teeth if it turns out she blatantly told him the SPECTRE hideout.

Hell, the SPECTRE goons were pretty much waiting for him to arrive. Lucia gave the call that 007 was on the way.

Sorted.   :)

So by pointing her in the direction of Felix Leiter he has basically given her the means of infiltrating the CIA. Interesting.

Especially if she is romantically liked with Leiter, and Bond has to kill them both, in all sorts of agonised torment. Which would be pleasing.

Just one problem with that - if Lucia is the new Irma Bunt why were SPECTRE assassins waiting to kill her when she returned from dear departed hubby's funeral? If Bond hadn't intervened she'd be dead and he would have been none the wiser.

That said....and an idea I'm not sure I'm keen on but here goes.... suppose Lucia set the whole thing up? Contacts M, asks her to get 007 to kill her husband, in return for pointing Bond in the direction of SPECTRE and Oberhauser/Blofeld - with the aim of getting rid of "Number 1". In short, she fancies the top job herself and is using MI6 to get it (And Blofeld's suspicion of her accounts for the killers ready for her at home.)

As I say, not an idea that would necessarily work but if Lucia is trying to take over SPECTRE there's a title ready for Bond 25 - "The Property Of A Lady" ;-))

I had a similar idea, only that Lucia calls M to set Bond up to kill her husband, so she can be with her beloved Ernst.  As for SPECTRE's goons, well...not exactly an organization you retire from after many years of service.

Now this is an interesting angle! I am championing the return of Irma Bunt - and now like the idea more of her working against Blofeld rather than with.

It's not really similar, but in both CR and SP they put a twist on Bond ordering his martini. He says he 'doesn't give a damn' if it's shaken or stirred in CR. And when he finally orders the drink in SP, the health clinic doesn't sell alcohol. I thought that little scene was hilarious, and the guy who played the barman was perfect.

The writers missed a huge opportunity to quote Fleming when the bartender presents him with the shake, "I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them."

The helicopter fight wasn't only reminiscent of FYEO, but also of CR - with Bond and Sciarra fighting on the skid rather like Bond and Mollaka fighting on the crane.

Indeed. Also removing the pilot and steadying his flight path reminded me of the PTS of Tomorrow Never Dies.

Another reference from Skyfall:-

Bond and Madeleine on the train:-

"What if I shoot you by mistake?"

"Wouldn't be the first time..."

I love this line, referring to Moneypenny in the previous film.

It's just dawned on me this morning - one more albeit loose reference to the books.

In the CCTV room Bond describes Blofeld as "not much more than a voyeur" because of his banks of TV screens watching "cities on fire and people burning".

Isn't Blofeld not much more than a voyeur in the novel You Only Live Twice - watching people commit suicide in grisly ways?

Here is something else I noticed. When Bond first peers over the balcony at the SPECTRE meeting in Rome, we see the back of one of the SPECTRE agent's heads, and it looks very similar to the grey pony-tailed poker player in Casino Royale.

And guess what... He is... his brother! :)

Tom So was Mr. Fukutu in Casino Royale:

Damn, are these movies put together with much more finesse than first meets the eye ?  ;)

Is it meant to be the same person - Mr Fukutu? What are the chances that SPECTRE had a mole at the casino table in Casino Royale, keeping an eye on Le Chiffre?

I don't know about Mr. Fukutu, but the man in SF and SP has to be the same. Some SPECTRE guy in Silva's territory... B) :D

He clearly was put there by Blofeld (or at that point by his go-to-guy Mr. White) to watch LeChiffre.

Damn, I should watch these films more closely than I thought I already did.

EON do know what they are doing.

"He was near the Bottoms Up Club."

"A coincidence."

"I don't believe in them! The man's a menace - he knows something."
