Skyfall got great reviews and word of mouth which helped it keep going for several weeks. we've yet to see if that will play out again

Not to mention it had relatively no competition aside from the final Twilight film that was released a couple of weeks later. Bond has quite the competition this time around.

My prediction is that Spectre will earn somewhere in the $750-$850 million range. With a lower U.S. opening than Skyfall and lower reviews, I think it will do very well, but won't reach the highs of Skyfall.

Which will be a damned good effort. Any other film would kill for such numbers. How the media will try and paint SPECTRE as a disappointment at the box-office, due to not reaching Skyfall numbers, will be predictably negative.

I'm expecting Spectre to end up at around $250m in the U.S. So, position 5 on the adjusted chart.

 

World wide, I think it can still do the billion, but just over $900m is more likely.

In less than two full weeks, SPECTRE has already taken in $300 million in total with the film yet to premiere in more countries this week, including Australia, France, Japan and China. So things look very good indeed!!

My only concern with the box office is that it does not lead them to alter any plans they have. The next film needs to deal with the questions that were raised at the end of the film. I hope they follow through.

Sony Germany reports $18.6 Million for the starting weekend (including Previews on Wednesday) in Germany. Makes it the best Bond ever, as Skyfall "only" had 18.4 Million. Broke the record for best Saturday ever with 5.9 Million (was held  by HP and the Goblet of Fire).

Now the US is down to $70m, for the opening weekend. This is huge by most standards, but for a film coming off the back off a beloved film like Skyfall and with such a huge budget it has to be a disappointment. The savaging it received form the US critics and a prevailing negativity in media coverage has hit the box office here, not fatally, but enough to hurt.

 

While that opening weekend figure is still the second highest for a 007 title behind Skyfall, one can’t help but notice that Spectre‘s debut is $20.4M less than its predecessor (which made $90.6M including previews) and it’s $2.7M higher than Quantum of Solace. Really, nobody was expecting it to be that low.

It was released in France yesterday, and beat the record for best opening day (previously held by Spiderman 3): 900.000 tickets (approx.) were sold, which makes it the best opening in the history of French theatres.

 

As a reminder, SF sold 7 million tickets in France, which made it the best selling Bond movie here.

Spectre took in almost another $8 million in the U.S. on Wednesday to bring the U.S. total to a shade under $91 million so far.  Not too shabby considering the skewering this film took here in the U.S. by the critics!

Well I reckon 'SPECTRE' has less than 1 week left to do big things here in the UK before 'The Hunger Games' finale hits screens on the 19th.

From then it'll be a slow descent, and with 'The Force Awakens' looming, the box-office may be readying to come down for 007.

Yes. Some critics don't like it, but honnestly it's more just for the sake of not liking it... I read those critics and they don't make sense (they're the same ones that previously called for a return to "good old Bond" and now say Spectre is too Bond-esque )
