I can't believe they have that picture framed. That's hilarious.
I know.
Did you know that Judi Dench had the Bond theme as her phone ring-tone?

Also an excellent bit of trivia!
I seriously LOVE that they have that photo framed, though. That is so cool.

The new issue of Empire is guest edited by Sam Mendes, the director of Spectre. This is, needless to say, very exciting news and brings some very obvious benefits. And we're not talking about his generous approval of our holiday requests. No, the new boss has delivered into readers' laps the most spectacular array of scoops, new looks and access to his 24th instalment of the mighty 007 franchise. It also has a cover - revealed exclusively below - that sets the movie's two adversaries check-by-jowl in a face-off for the ages.
As revealed earlier in the week, the issue also offers some incredible access to Mendes's book of contacts. There are interviews with Spielberg, Joss Whedon and David Fincher - conducted by the editor himself, no less - as well as an in-depth look back at some of the other highlights on the editor's CV, including American Beauty, and a look at the unheralded but spectacular work of practical effects whizz Chris Corbould.

(Maybe Oberhauser isn't leading SPECTRE at all?) Haha, talk about nit-picking.
Is this also his first promo shot?
Hope we get an exclusive subscribers cover too!

Oooh nice and chilling to see Waltz wearing the SPECTRE ring! Would the leader of a global criminal organisation wear a ring of his own group if he was the head?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Blofeld did wear that ring in FRWL. On that basis it's as likely as not that he's the head of SPECTRE. Whether he's ESB remains to be seen.

Good shout Guy. Don't know why I jumped 10 paces forward with that theory! Just excited to see something of Waltz in character, and at least the ring is a little less glaringly obvious than the '63 version!
Watch the haters now pick up on "he's wearing it on the wrong finger!" argument.

Speaking of the finger argument - all the officially released/set stuff we've seen (Sciarra on set, this cover, Smith in the promo pic) implies that it is worn on the middle finger).

They'll be asking "where's his white cat?"next! ;-)

I'm sorry but I just have to share this thought with you guys.
I still have high hopes that somehow the character played by Andrew Scott may become Blofeld...and even if not...wouldn't it be cool if at the end of the movie just before cutting to credits we'ld catch a glimpse of Andrew or a silluette stroking a white cat!!
I know it may come in as cheesy but...the majority of the public not entirely tunned in with Bond history mainly associate Spectre and Blofeld with the white cat, in terms of imagery. I hardly known someone who noticed the ring as that important before the trailer.
Again...Blofeld stroking a white cat (cut to credits) [cue in Bond's theme]

I don't understand the logic of Andrew Scott being Blofeld. I can't see past the idea that the twist, if you like, is that Oberhauser is Blofeld, but the intrigue stems from the how, rather than the if. I think people are thinking too much about the moment and not the future. The idea of Waltz returning next time is mouthwatering, the idea of Scott returning is... less so.
Oh... and no white cat.

I don't care if Oberhauser is Blofeld or his number 2, but I surely hope that Andrew Scott is NOT Blofeld and that Blofeld won't have a white cat.

Now, the idea of his character turning out to be a wrong 'un working for SPECTRE wouldn't present a problem for me - we've had traitorous characters in Bond before. But "Denbigh" - Scott's character - turning out to be Blofeld, presumably running SPECTRE from within British Intelligence? Try as I might, I can't see it.
There's a "blink and you'll miss it" bit in the summer trailer of someone fighting with Denbigh - it looks as if its Ralph Fiennes' M. If so, my money is on Denbigh turning out to be a wrong 'un, but not Blofeld. The screenwriters would, I imagine, reserve a final confrontation with ESB for 007.
Blofeld is either Oberhauser, or he's probably not in this film at all, imho.

I don't mind if Oberhauser isn't Blofeld either, although I feel it would be the biggest missed opportunity in a generation to cast Waltz in a film about SPECTRE and not have him be Blofeld.
Re. Scott and the cat, I totally agree.

Hey - all I care about is that we have SPECTRE back, and Christoph Waltz is a leading factor in that group! Whatever happens after will suit me fine as long as Waltz is involved further, he's going to be amazing!

..................I mean it's GOOD....
....but I'm kinda disappointed in that cover! I won't get a snazzy Bond or Oberhauseer or Aston Martin or yummy Bellucci shot or anything... *sigh*
Oh well.

That subscriber cover is ridiculous... a poster for a festival that features in the film for a few minutes. Maybe they just had nothing exclusive to give Empire.

Their site blurb say the film is to be premiered on the 24th...
Anyone going to correct them?
I don't have an account and I don't want to set one up for the sole purpose of setting them straight in fear of appearing to be a bit of a twonk.

Haven't had a chance to do anything but glance at it, but I'm struck by one thing - the magazine appears, in a marginal notes section "SPECTRE files #" to link everything that has gone before in the Craig/Bond era to SPECTRE the organisation.
Now it may be that the article writer has simply had a lapse of memory about "Quantum" - but if this is right, everyone Craig's Bond has battled up to now has been working, in some way, for SPECTRE, and Quantum was always part of it.
Not much longer to wait to find out.
