I actually don't think Mr. Hinx sounds like a pet kind of guy...

I agree with JCRendle about Blofeld's appearance. In the books he is a chameleon of a person - obese in Thunderball, slimmed down in OHMSS, armour clad lunatic in You Only Live Twice. Almost like three different people, with only the eyes - the "black pools" - as the giveaway. (Hence the use of contact lenses in OHMSS)
Therefore there is no reason why Blofeld should be bald - Charles Gray wasn't, neither for that matter was Max Von Sydow (And he did without the Mao /Nehru style suit also.) It wouldn't surprise me if Blofeld as played by, presumably, Christoph Waltz will look relatively normal and dress quite conventionally, and it will be his acting skills that make the impression rather than physical appearance or attire.
(On another topic here, and again related to cats, the problem I have with the henchman's name - Mr Hinx - is that it reminds me of "Mr Jinks", the feline nemesis of cartoon mice Pixie & Dixie in those cartoons I used to watch as a kid. Jinks hated "those meeces to pieces" and I dare say Hinx will have a go at reducing 007 to bite sized chunks - and fail, miserably.)

No Mao jacket, no scar, no bald head. My favorite Blofeld (FRWL/TB) had none of these. And my least favorite Blofeld (YOLT) had all of these, so a big NO on all counts. Hidden/disguised voice, sure why not.
I like cats, so I'm pro-cat. Not that white angora nonsense, though. Long haired cats are for old women. Make this cat short-haired, very vocal, and very smart like his owner. Black cats are my favorite but a Siamese would be OK.

A Siamese? Are you insane? Why would you want another super villain in the film? The one I have has serious world domination issues, I tell ya.

Plus, they NEVER shut up.
It might be humorous if Blofeld is trying to explain his plan for world domination but is constantly being interrupted by a hungry feline.
Most cats think they rule the world already.

Maybe he will have a bulldog instead of the cat. This could make sense
I hope not. I'd rather he had a guinea pig.

A bit torn on this. I absolutely don't want Waltz's interpretation to be based on his predecessors in the films, but the cat is an essential part of what 99% of moviegoers would associate with Blofeld. I think one fleeting glimpse of the cat as a nod to what's gone before, but then no more. Maybe even have the cat wander past the camera in his headquarters, with no reference made to it.
I'm with you on this Vauxhall! It is both too important to be left out totally, and too over-the-top to be fully included. A white angora walking in the background of a shot would be just enough. Or maybe Blofeld brushing off a dark armchair a tuft of long, snow-white soft hairs?

Yes! I am not the only one here who wants the cat to come back!
I can totally picture Christoph Waltz petting a white cat.

I could see Dave Bautista eating one, whole.
I'm going to go along with EON's insistence that Waltz is not Blofeld, just so there may be a surprise left on premiere day.
I'm also going to continue to assert that Bautista is Blofeld, and that he was cast first under the cover name of Hinx as a misdirection.
Or, maybe - just maybe - EON is going to do what they did in FRWL/TB/YOLT and save the reveal for another time, and hit us with an even greater casting coup?

Going a little off topic, has anyone out there seen Mike Myers' very funny "message" as Dr Evil about the Sony Pictures/North Korea business? No Spectre spoilers in it - he just "pre-empts" the introduction to Saturday Night Live by possible future Bond theme singer Sam Smith, compares Sony and N Korea with "two bald men fighting over a comb" and suggests that if it was Kim Jong Un, his "act of war" was pathetic - "It's easy to kill a movie. Just move it to January."
Something that looks like Mr Bigglesworth is in the skit too, but not for long.
If the Spectre villain is Blofeld, the re-emergence of Mike Myers' parody of him, however brief, might make the Bond producers want to think twice about bringing back the bald head, Mao/Nehru suit and cat!
(And looking at this post, I've used more "quotation marks" than Dr Evil did in that SNL sketch! )
Anyway, Merry Christmas to all fellow CBners. I'm off to the relatives later on for Christmas lunch and a glass or two of Oberhauser's finest Gluwein!

Thanks Professor.
I never thought we'd see Dr Evil as the "voice of reason" in this Sony/North Korea business. But, there you go!
(And there I go again with those "quotation marks"!)
I notice on the news last night that people were queuing 'round the block to see The Interview. I wonder what they thought of it?

No to the Mao suit and scarred face. I can go either way with the bald head, but in the books Blofeld changed his appearance all the time so it doesn't matter if he's bald or not particularly for this rebooted era.
However, Blofeld should wear the octopus ring and have the white cat. The cat doesn't have to take center stage, maybe show it for the introduction/big reveal and one other time. That's all you really need. But he definitely should have the cat. It's part of Blofeld's iconography/identity. Like Bond and his tuxedo or Walther PPK.

I think this is a very plausible scenario from AgenttiNollaNollaSeitsemän:
I think it is plausible that Franz Oberhauser, the son of Bond's childhood mentor (and possibly his boyhood friend) has become a villain - that would give Bond a personal motivation to hunt down the source of such corrupting evil, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, in Bond 25 - especially if it is revealed that Blofeld was involved with Quantum who got Vesper killed.
If boyhood friend Oberhauser turns out to be Blofeld isn't that a bit too much like Austin Powers-Doctor Evil being brothers? A little too neat and convenient for the kind of story-telling EON seem to be going for with Craig's Bond, and particularly under Mendes. And why give away Blofeld in the first SPECTRE film of the reboot? Witholding Blofeld will create anticipation for the next film.
In my opinion, there does not need to be a pet for Blofeld.
But if they wanted to get the cat back - I think they should just go ahead and not care about Austin Powers or any new parodies. Just come right out and say: we don´t give a XXX about someone ridiculing this. That would be more courageous and badass than working around it.
I do agree with SecretAgentFan that EON and friends shouldn't write the script for SPECTRE with too much concern for past or future parodies, but having Oberhauser as Blofeld would be too close a plot point and it would effectively self parody.
There shouldn't be a cat in SPECTRE, nor any of the other traits that have come to define the cinematic Blofeld (i.e. Baldness, Mao jackets, etc.)
Agreed. I'm for no cats or any other cheesy motifs. Away with the cat already! The Octopus ring I am cool with, but I don't think 'the boss' would willingly brand himself this way. The ring is for members of his organisation, not himself.
As a fun aside, I love the idea of Belluci as Blofeld for its entertainment value in this thread, but that it will remain rather than a viable alternative because to really do so is a bit too close to TWINE's Elecktra.
Cheers!

A passing reference to a cat would be fine too. As others have said, a cat in the background somewhere.
