The best thing about Mendes is that Bond is always properly dressed, in a suit. Forget casual clothing. It's a compact sized weapon, with a laser sight - that much I do know. However, I really can't make out what it is due to lack of angles.Does anyone recognize a weapon Bond is carrying?
Are these any help?

Hear Hear to Bond on assignment rockin' a good suit. That's old school and very welcome IMO.
Done a bit of digging on the gun. It clearly has a scope and a suppressor (we used to say silencer in the old days) and looks to be a compact H&K of some type (model 53 because of the seemingly wide ejection port) to my eye. Could possibly be one of the new Steyr models. Either way, it a compact sniper rifle that can easily be worn under a suit jacket.
Bond is out for a kill.

He wasn't for like half of Skyfall.

Yep, thought so as well. With a suppressor, right? Was hoping for another weapon from AFirearms. The AFR Rapax. That one would be very FRWL.

It's an Arsenal Firearms LRC-2 (same barell etc...) with customs accesories.
Thanks for identyfication of the gun, Moneyofpropre!
It's a submachine gun, not a rifle, right?

I've been nothing but impressed how much DC looks so comfortable as Bond in these pics...just awesome. He looks fit, able, lethal and up for anything. Certainly has a good 2 more films in him I reckon.
Come on DC, equal Connery. You can do it!

A proper Blofeld trilogy. I like it.

So I guess that's why Craig/Bond was wearing the harness. He'll probably fall from the top, down to street level.

Great find, Moneyofpropre!
The LRC-2 happens to be a semi-automatic rifle chambered in 9mm. Barrel allows for greater distance turning it essentially into a handgun-turned-rifle.
From the official website:
"The new LRC-2 (long range conversion kit) available in 2015 as a fab defense extension and a 300 mm (12 inch) stainless steel barrel. available in 9 luger only, this conversion kit allows fast and accurate long range accuracy shooting for the first time with an otherwise standard, semiautomatic polymer frame hammerless pistol.Only the Arsenal Firearms AF-1 Strike One, thanks to its in-line barrel and revolutionary locking system, allows the cycle to be completely safe even with a 12 inch barrel. The LRC-2 allows the mount of long range optic sights, red dots, collimators, night visions, so to expand a semiautomatic pistol beyond the known borders, allowing 100% shot placement at 100 yards and over. Note: the LRC-2 is available on selected markets with the extensible, folding stock, depending on current legislation."

Sure, there are notable differences. But this is bringing TLD's pre-titles to mind. Bond entering a building, getting a big gun and taking aim at his prey.

I don't think so, I'd say it's just for safety walking along that high ledge. It's very like the one he had for running up the crane in CR.

Correct. No matter how high up, they must always wear a harness in the event they are to lose footing or simply fall, the harness always does the job. Of course, everything will be erased via CGI in post-production.

And the roof chase in 'QOS', that was a harness job but was perfectly removed. Although with all that shaky-cam we wouldn't have had chance to see it anyway!
I digress - always love seeing Craig stuck in with the action, certainly giving us what we expect from 007!

True, however if part of that building collapses, ala the spy pictures, Bond could also take a tumble with it. All will be revealed in the film, I guess.

Indeed. If so, I'd wager Bond would still choose to exit via the perfectly intact front door.

Regardless of Bond's mode of escape, we can take much pleasure in the fact that SPECTRE isn't skimping on the action. Maybe SPECTRE will venture into that Thunderball-esque OTT after all.

Yes, but that is not part of this shot. This is just for him walking along the ledge.
