More rumour for the ever growing fire, following Medes-gate, now word is Penelope Cruz will join the film as the oldest Bond girl at 40, starting work on 'Bond 24' next summer...!

Pirates 5 shoots in 2014 and she's contracted for that - so I wouldn't hold out much hope :(

 

On the possibility of "oldest Bond girl" I would LOVE to see Rachel Weisz a.k.a. Mrs Craig in Bond 24 or 25

Because of the Bardem-connection it would certainly be possible. Also, she could easily accomodate the schedules - and whether she will actually do Pirates 5 is still unresolved.

 

The real interesting question is: what kind of character would she play? A Bond girl who is in Bond´s age would be very welcome (IMO). But the character should be interesting apart from that.

Seems way, way, way, way too early to be hearing about the casting of the next Bond girl.

It would be really good for them to cast a strong, intelligent female character over 40.  It also deflects a lot of the traditional criticism of the Bond series.  While they usually go for relative unknowns for the female lead, I can see this casting as an important character who clicks and resonates with Bond's.

 

A casting like that might have saved TWINE's horrendous Christmas Jones character, added some experience and depth to Holly in Moonraker, completely salvaged the Stacey Sutton character in  A View to a Kill, or made for better chemistry with Paris Carver and Bond than Terri Hatcher did.

While I don't believe this report for a second, I wouldn't be opposed to it becoming true either.  I would find it to be a better idea, though, if she were to play the villain in BOND 24.

This is very interesting news.........the wife of the last Bond villain being a Bond girl.......hmm it would be nice to have someone that is a bit older but I think she might be better as a secondary Bond girl or henchwoman role

If the rumor is right, she could bring something different to the James Bond Girls. But I agree with SAF : "what kind of character would she play ?" is the good question.

The first thing I thought of was the link with Javier Bardem - but being a couple does nothing to link someone to a film role...but certainly is a nice link indeed to fuel speculation...!

This seems like pure speculation; but fun and welcome all the same.

 

It just seems way too soon to attach Cruz before the director's confirmed, and the Bardem connection seems too neat. Unless Bond 24 really is a lot further into production than we thought.

 

So I'll believe it when there's an official announcement...

Any article about a prospect Bond girl that contains a quote from a source saying something along the lines of...

 

"She’ll be a great Bond girl. Bond girls are always brainy as well as sexy, and that’s totally Penelope."

 

...I tend to dismiss immediately.

I thought twice about seeing this when I realized it is a Woody Allan film. I've seen one or two of his films and could never get into them. Is the dialog very Woody Allan?

But even if it is not for you, at least see the film for Cruz´ performance. (Hey, it´s also got Silva, um, Javier Bardem, interacting with Cruz!)

Agreed.  

 

It's also way too early for any of these rumors to be anything other than rumors.  Since it appears as though we're on track for a November/December 2015 release, I can't imagine that we'd be hearing anything regarding actual roles being cast until at least a year from now.

Yeah I think this is a rumour.. to me I want them to cast someone who is a little more unknown but Penelope Cruz is gorgeous who cares how old she is!?
