Back to the David Arnold topic, If you think about it, Arnold still had some slight involvment in Skyfall:
From imdb.com
You have to give Mr. Arnold some props, he still keeps true to the original Bond theme at the end of the movie. Maybe even more than John Barry.
It appears to me that EON just used Arnold´s track from CR for the gun barrel of SKYFALL (probably because that was the cheaper and faster way to have a contemporary version of it).
But... um... really, nobody did the Bond theme better than John Barry. Everybody else just followed in his footsteps.

The Monty Norman James Bond Theme has been actually written and conducted by John Barry in 1962. Monty Norman has just composed few notes of the intro...
And I think it's totally correct : the end of Skyfall and the gunbarrel Theme is exactly "The name's Bond" from Casino Royale. I wonder if the music when Bond meets the new M is really from Newman's work...

What if...and this is a big WHAT IF...Newman and Arnold collaborated for the next Bond score. It's not impossible, unless Arnold plans on scoring the next Olympics. It could be the greatest score we as Bond fans could ever have. It would be like Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard coming together for The Dark Knight.
Thoughts, comments, concerns...
OMG. Now I need to go back and listen to QOS and SF scores. Good day to you all!!!
Oh, and any thoughts on the cinematographer for the next movie. Would you like to see Roger Deakins return?

I wouldn't mind if someone else took over, but I did really enjoy Skyfall and Mende's direction of the Bond franchise.

Arnold didn't score Skyfall because of Mendes choosing Newman, not because of Olympics games. However, I like your idea. That'd make everyone happy.

As far as the idea of Newman and Arnold collaborating on the score for BOND 24, I can't say that I'd support that idea. While it's no secret that I'm not a fan of SKYFALL, that boils down more to its shortcomings in the story department. In terms of those working behind the camera (Newman, Deakins, etc.), it was a rather well made film. Newman's score, even if it doesn't reach the heights of some of the pre-Arnold scores, is miles better than anything we got from TOMORROW NEVER DIES through QUANTUM OF SOLACE. I can't see much being gained by having them collaborate with each other, especially when Newman has already proven that he's capable enough to go at it on his own. Probably the best thing about Mendes as a director is who he could potentially bring with him to work on BOND 24. Hopefully both Newman and Deakins can be persuaded to return.

Is this supposed to be an endorsement?!

So, when had Mendes time for Bond? 2015? And the movie release is 2016?
I'm wondering that myself but still nothing has been confirmed. Perhaps they are just working out the schedule now but I would hope with Mendes they wouldn't wait that long for him.

It can be considered Arnold's arrangement, but Newman does a much better job of conducting it than Arnold did.

Nicholas Dodd conducted the 2006 recording.

I met Sam on Saturday and he confirmed that he was back for Bond 24 and 25 (just as soon as he's finished with his two theatre projects - the first of which is over at the end of this month). John Logan was spotted in town (London) too.
Hi, where did you meet Sam?

Probably the same place he met Daniel Craig, and learned that the next two films will be comedy-musicals. But it's all very hush-hush, you know, need to know basis information and all.

Feels like a hefty pay packet must have been chucked towards Mr Mendes if he really ends up with BOND 24 and 25.
I'd imagine the return of Deakins and Newman will be tougher to secure though, particularly Deakins.

Tougher? Don´t think so. They are Mendes´ team. I could even imagine him making their return part of his conditions.

Exactly. Tom Newman's been part of Mendes's team since day one, and with the exception of AWAY WE GO, Deakins has shot all of his films after Conrad Hall's passing.

It didn't stop then from getting Madonna after she did the 1999 theme song Beautiful Stranger for The Spy Who Shagged Me...
Good point !

I met him in Covent Garden in London, where he is ensconced in the production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which is presently previewing).

At least that is true - I was in London last week and saw the theatre with the billboard already in place.

You doubt that I'm telling the truth?? That's why I included a picture of the poster he signed or me.
It opened on 22 May - if you'd visited the stage door, chances are you could've met him too and asked him directly (as I did).

If King Lear is scheduled for early 2014, i think Sam could start working on 24 (pre-production/casting/ecc) during this summer. Than the second unit could start filming the action scene while he is doing KL, then he could start filming the rest of the film, and the film should be ready for the end of 2014
I'd actually like that, but I doubt it would happen. I'd be surprised if it did.

The National Theatre also tend to have very short runs, so I wouldn't be surprised if it went to camera early next year either (although I didn't ask him).
I can also see Simon Russell Beale being cast (who's playing his Lear).

SRB was going to be cast in SkyFall (can anyone remember which character he was in line for?) but dropped out because of theatre commitments. So yeah, wouldn't be a surprise!
