I'm going Playstation 4. They have all my favorite developers (although Microsoft does have Remedy). I never could get into Gears of War and I don't much care for Halo anymore. I think I gave Halo 4 a 7/10 or something.

Halo sucks and so does Gears Of War. Most games on the Xbox 360 are multi-platform. Loved the exclusive title Alan Wake, phenomenal game.

I do really like Alan Wake. Remedy has been one of my favorite developers ever since Max Payne 1. I basically bought another 360 just to play Alan Wake. Outside of that title though, as pointed out Ace, most games are multi-platform, I don't have much need for an Xbox.

Alan Wake is like I said, Phenomenal. Really surprised me and I hope they make a sequel, because American Nightmare, was okay, but beyond repetitive. I'll wait for E3 to see what these exclusives and IP's are for the Xbox One.

I'd welcome Alan Wake 2 with open arms. Of the 15 new IPs, we already know of Quantum Break, but don't be surprised if 10-12 of them are stupid Kinect games that no one gives two craps about.

I remember Remedy saying that Alan Wake 2 was in the works, but who knows. We'll find out at E3.

Ah, that's a shame. It was a very nice thing of Lake to do though. It's nice to see people involved who actually care about the fans. As for the recent console announcements, I'm leaning a lot more towards to PS4. There's a lot of things about the XBOX One that's completely put me off.

I've been a Nintendo guy since I remember. I had a original Nintendo, the 64 and the Wii, the latter of which I wasn't that impressed with. The more and more I've been playing my friends Nintendo Wii U and hearing its performing poorly and companies aren't rushing to make it games the more I've been bent on the PS4. Xbox was fun when Halo came out but I've grown out of it, the Call of Duty games seem to rule all first person shooters recently. Can't wait for the PS4 Egames press conferences June 10th I believe.

Call of Duty certainly rules FPSes, but it doesn't mean they are the best (not even remotely). Halo was great....10 years ago. Wii U has a decided lack of support and quite frankly the console is already obsolete even when compared with the 7 year old PS3 and even older X360. I agree with DamnCoffee and Ace in that many things about X1 have put me off. I think Sony has figured things out since the PS3 launch disaster. I think they are primed for a great showing with PS4.

E3 is 12 days away, and I'm curious to see how it's going to turn out. The last good E3 in my opinion was E3 '07.

E3 2009 wasn't bad (think MW2 and Uncharted 2), but I agree it's been very weak for awhile.

So Microsoft dishes on Xbox One concerns, confirming some while debunking others, but still not really giving solid answers:

Always-on- the system does require a check-in online once every 24 hours. If this check-in is not made, you cannot play offline games until the check-in is done. But you can still watch live TV and DVDs and Blu-Rays....basically everything you don't care about when buying a video game console. So I suppose that's....something....

Used game fee- This is left up to the publisher. Microsoft will take no profits from fees to used resold games. Games can be lent, but not borrowed (not exactly sure what that means) and this feature will NOT be available at launch. Games can also be lent only once, so basically this is pretty much confirmed it seems. But they don't really say.

Privacy- Apparently when in a powered down state, the only thing Kinect is listening for is the phrase "Xbox on." So MS claims it won't be secretly recording you, but honestly who really believes that? I just can't figure out why they are forcing this ridiculous piece of hardware on people. They also say they reserve the right to change their policy, so I guess at some point Kinect will start spying on people?

So basically, Microsoft really doesn't give us any answers. It seems that they just keep dodging questions. Maybe at E3 we'll get some answers, but once again I doubt it.

Why would someone, who has no interest in Online gaming be subjected to an always-online connection check when all they want to do is play the game alone, by themselves.

As for the used games fee, i guarantee Activision, EA Games, and Ubisoft will take up on that as they are subjected to the most cash-cow video game franchises ever (Call Of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Need For Speed, Medal Of Honor, Dead Space). I don't lend out or Borrow games to and from people, but I wonder, how is this going to go for the video game rental business (GameFly, BlockBuster[if they're still around], Redbox, etc) I can see this will affect the Rental industry.

I bought the Kinect for the 360, and used it maybe 5 times, I'm not really losing money on it as I got it refurbished at GameStop for only $70.00, but I really don't like it and I don't like the games being released for it. I agree, it's pointless to pressure it onto people when the general gaming community dislike the Kinect. The fact the system won't work unless it is connected to it is just plain ridiculous.

E3 is this upcoming Tuesday I believe and I'll be watching it all throughout. I'm sure they will discuss more of the goddamn Kinect, and will discuss the new IP's and franchises, along with more Call Of Duty: Ghosts. Not to mention we will get a release date along with a price tag.

FINAL PREDICTIONS:

Release Date: - November 19th, 2013

Price Tag: - $399.00

Sounds like a fair prediction. My belief is that Playstation 4 will launch one week ahead of Xbox One, as the PS3 did with Wii.

Prediction-

Playstation 4

Date: November 12, 2013

Price: $299 model and $399 model

Xbox One

Date: November 19, 2013

Price: $299 stupid-ass subscription based model, $449 model

I think the required Kinect and Microsoft basically having their heads up their asses (as Sony did in 2006) will lead to a more expensive Xbox One and a weaker launch vs. the PS4 debut.

Right? And I've also seen conflicting reports on the European pricing. It's 429 pounds in the UK, but I've seen 399 euros and 499 euros. I'm inclined to believe the latter, but I'm not sure.

Playstation 4 will launch at $399, €399, and £349. It will not restrict used games at all, requires no-online verification and has no always-online requirement. I'm sold.

I'm very disappointed that Microsoft has come out so anti-consumer. They had a wonderful line-up of games shown that I liked, in spite of the mega-betrayal by Insomniac Games. Ryse looked impressive. As did Titanfall and Quantum Break. Sunset Overdrive looks great, although I won't ever play it. (You are dead to me, Insomniac!!!!!!!!!) Microsoft did well showing off it's games, but it did finally admit to the very draconian policies it is practicing with Xbox One:

Online-verification (basically always-online DRM): Confirmed

Used game blocking: Confirmed

Region-locked (not so bad, but still annoying): Confirmed

Price: $499, €499, £429

As opposed to PS4:

No online requirement

No used game blocking

Not Region-locked (great for me as I can buy a PS4 when I am living in Spain this fall :D)

Price: $399, €399, £329 (much more reasonable)

The Playstation 4 also had an impressive line-up, although they spent too much time on the useless TV stuff. The Order 1866 looks to be an impressive game coming as a collaboration between Sony Santa Monica (God of War) and Ready at Dawn. Killzone: Shadow Fall and Infamous: Second Son continue to impress. I think DriveClub will be an interesting and impressive looking racing game. I'm happy that Final Fantasy Versus XIII will in fact see a release as Final Fantasy XV and.....Kingdom Hearts III 'nuff said. I'm looking forward to the next few days of the conference. I hope nintendo has something up it's sleeve and shows more than just a new (or probably more accurate TEASES) Zelda title and 16 more Mario games. I also expect to see more X1 and PS4 titles as well as more new PS3 games.

PS4 already won the battle haha.

Now, it's no secret I'm a massive fan of mixed martial arts and also a student of the arts as well, so this just pretty much made my day :)

UFC-on-EA-Sports-Spring-2014.jpg

EA Sports UFC is set to be easily, the most realistic fight game yet. How?

MMAi A mixed martial artist’s mind is as important as his heart. Every licensed fighter in the game will have changing goals and fight plans, based on their real-life tendencies and each fight situation. Stop their Plan A, and they will adapt to Plan B or C. Down on the scorecards, look for the AI to end the fight with a knockout or a submission. A smarter opponent equals a more challenging and unpredictable fight (such fighters like Benson Henderson, Frankie Edgar, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, Jon Jones, Vitor Belfort, Cain Velasquez, and many more).

Real-Time Exertion An MMA bout is one of the most physically demanding sports on the planet requiring mixed martial artists to give it their all with every movement. Real-Time Exertion brings each moment of that action to life in your gameplay experience. Through real-time vein popping, skin discoloration, muscle flex, as well as signs of fatigue setting in through the course of each round, you will witness the effort it takes to be one of the best fighters in the world.

Fighter Likeness and Facial Animations EA Sports UFC will set a new bar for character likeness and emotion in gaming. Every single licensed fighter in the game has been created from high-resolution 3D head and body scans to deliver revolutionary character likeness and authenticity. Powered by EA Sports Ignite, new facial animation technology delivers more expression, emotion and will communicate greater sense of awareness and intelligence in the Octagon.

Full Body Deformation Simulation of physical contact between fighters was limited to bodies that barely made contact with each other; as a result, they looked and behaved like action figures made of plastic rather than elite athletes. Now, with an all-new, full-body deformation system that moves and displaces the fighter’s flesh in real time. For the first time, the strength of every submission and power of every strike will truly make an impression.

Precision Movement MMA is a sport of inches, where every step counts and every movement matters.  Powered by EA Sports Ignite, the Precision Movement locomotion system grounds the fighters, eliminating unrealistic slipping and sliding across the canvas. More realistic physics-driven movement delivers more realistic action as the overall transfer of energy from the ground up delivers more impactful and believable strikes and takedowns.

Dynamic Striking A mixed martial artist uses the environment to his advantage and for the first time in a UFC game (Anthony Pettis is a perfect example of someone who does this), you can too. A dynamic environment allows you to pull off jaw-dropping moves using the Octagon, including roundhouse kicks, superman punches and much more. Combine those abilities with the best striking technology in the industry and that one perfect strike could change the fight.

Strategic Submission Battles EA Sports UFC reinvents the ground game to create a battle for position and control that captures the strategy of a submission battle. Like the real sport, in EA Sports UFC fighters will work through multiple stages as they work to advance or escape from a fight-ending submission.

Real Damage Every fighter knows that one good shot can ruin your day.  EA Sports UFC introduces a non-linear damage system which can result in big damage coming from a single strike (Perfect example: UFC 155-Dos Santos vs. Velasquez). The system produces a greater variety of cuts and contusions that is true-to-life and has never been possible in a simulation fighting game.

While I've loved all of THQ's UFC games, It's pretty evident that EA is pulling out all of the stops to make this come off as real as it gets. Debuting on the PS4 and Xbox One, Spring 2014. I might have to buy a next gen console now.

UFC does look incredible and I'm not even a UFC fan. (I'm one of the few who still prefers boxing. I loved Fight Night Champion and was sad to learn that the franchise had been put on hold.)

Anyhoo, Day 2 of E3 was far less impressive. Nintendo was Nintendo, only showing sequels to the same games we've playing forever. A new Mario? Really? I never would've guessed! Sony did not show off much, however, the gameplay for the new Final Fantasys was nice. Microsoft continues to sh*t on it's loyal fans by trying to defend it's incredibly evil practices. They said that for people without an internet connection, they can buy an Xbox 360. Well that's great M$.

Here's my impression of Microsoft:

Oh you live in an area with no or a poorly connected internet? You can't have this shiny new toy. No Halo 5 or Titanfall for you. You should probably just kill yourself. But in the meantime, here's an 8 year old box with old games that you can wallow in your despair with.

I used to like boxing. I still do, but not as much, favorites include Rocky Marciano, Micky Ward, Ray Mancini, Arturo Gatti, Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Robert Guerrero, and The Klitschko Brothers. I watch from time to time, but my heart is with MMA now haha.

as for EA Sports UFC, It's being made by the same EA Sports company behind the Fight Night games and EA Sports MMA, so I think it'll be brilliant. Would be nice to see another Fight Night game, especially on Next-Gen consoles. As for Nintendo, It doesn't surprise me they would announce that. Because Mario Kart is going to compete with Quantum Break, or Killzone: Shadow Fall. They've been doing that for the past few years and people continue to flock to their conferences and such. It doesn't matter though, their games aren't anything spectacular or remotely groundbreaking. As far as I'm concerned they are out of the Next-Gen Console Race for good.

I'm keeping my Xbox 360 for a while. I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon (I might change that due to EA Sports UFC), but the thing is, I don't feel as if the current consoles are obsolete yet. I'm not ready to shell out more money for either console yet when the 360 is doing just fine. I've had the slim console since it's launch back in 2010 and it still works like a charm. I might hold out past launch and wait see if there's any bugs or glitches. I like the PS4 for it's gamer focus nature, but hate the games. It find it's exclusives lacking big time and I've looked at it as most of the games for it are on other consoles. I like the Xbox One for the games and of course Xbox Live, but dislike all of it's BS.

I might even wait until there's a cheaper, better, slim console of one of them and go from there, because the way I see it, Microsoft is going to lose money big time, and they will try ti recuperate with something to make up for it. They may not and just have their heads up their own ass and not do anything, but it's the waiting game for now.

That sounds like a pretty fair assessment. I'm thinking that the earliest I will pick up a PS4 will be next summer as I will be in Spain when it launches where it is technically more expensive and Infamous: Second Son doesn't launch until 2014. I think towards the end of the year we will start to see more of the big exclusives coming. Killzone: Shadow Fall looks like a much needed overhaul to KZ after the disappointing KZ3. I'm sure in December we will finally discover what Naughty Dog is working on and I think we'll also hear about a PS4 version of GT6. I also would not be at all surprised to discover a next-gen version of Beyond: Two Souls either. However, I think the PS3 currently has the strongest line-up of confirmed games still to come out of any console. The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls and Gran Turismo 6 will all be huge. I think the PS4's biggest selling at this time will actually be Indie games, of which it has many. The Xbox One doesn't really have anything outside of Minecraft (which is undeniably huge). I'm just so pissed about M$'s anti-consumer policies ("you don't actually own what you buy" I'm paraphrasing, but they said something close to that). I think they do have a strong lineup of games, but unless they finally respond to all of this backlash, I won't be giving them a second thought. As for Nintendo, they are marketing solely to the die hard nintendo crowd and that's great for them. It just isn't great for everyone else. I think Nintendo gave up on the mainstream after the failure of the GameCube, which sucks because I still love Nintendo and wish they would put the effort that Sony and M$ do into catering for them. I admit that I do get giddy everytime a new Zelda is teased, but after Skyward Sword I must admit that that series is starting to show it's age. I think they showed off the 4000th Mario game. The last time I played Donkey Kong was DK 64 and they didn't show a new Metroid and Other M really was a let down. I just want them to show something new. The last time they did it was Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. and both games became hits. I know Nintendo can do it, they just won't.

The Xbox Indie games are okay, but Minecraft is very huge, I'm playing it now in fact. The only PlayStation exclusive I care about is Sly Cooper, and I love the hell out of that franchise. But I still don't see the thought of paying money for a PS3 or a PS4 to play that. Unless Nintendo moves forward and not backwards and goes for HD and not GameCube graphics, there just an afterthought.
