No but I'd like to - certainly looks very entertaining and immersive. It's having the space on my machine to do it! Isn't it something like 25GB?

I need to try it soon being a big SW fan!

And it seems 'GTA V' is almost upon us - we got any die-hard fans here? I will get this but only after I've completed 'Arkham City' first, so hopefully will get a bit of a deal and reviews to convince me.

How about these for some reviews?

I am a die hard fan! Can't wait. The game world is staggering, the graphics are somehow above and beyond what the ageing current generation are meant to be capable of. Being able to invest in the in-game stock market, then assassinate a CEO to see shares plummet.

Plan heists, go hunting.

Play golf, tennis, hand-gliding, base-jumping, fly planes. Buy and invest in property. Car chases, shoot-outs. Buy an aircraft hanger and fill it with limited edition sports cars.

The list is endless! My life starts (and ends) tomorrow! Wish i had enough holiday left to book the week off work!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Got Just Cause 2 in the Steam sale for a couple of measly dollars and it was a riot from start to finish. A perfect blend of Bond (it reminded me a lot of LTK in a lot of the missions), Batman and Grand Theft Auto.

Anyone played it?

Yep, it's good fun. I love how big the islands are. The snowy mountains, the lush beaches and tropical jungles, and the grappling hook of course! You got a bargain!

GTA V looks so sick!

It's great, but it's not perfect. For a game of it's ambition and scope, it's got a surprising amount of technical problems. I'm on PS3 and I've experienced anti-aliasing issues, a lot of texture pop-in, numerous freezes, frame-rate drops etc. I'm playing the retail version on PS3 and I've heard that the digital version and Xbox 360 versions have even more issues.

I have heard that too... a lot of people are having freezing problems. I feel like this happens in a lot of big releases.. I mean skyrim had horrible glitches when it first came out.

Yea, Skyrim was released way too early. But other games seem to have bucked that trend (Tomb Raider, The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite all released just this year). It seems like with GTAV, Rockstar really tried to beat the next-gens out the door and as a result, missed out on some testing that would have found these issues. However, it's nothing that a patch wouldn't fix, which I could see coming in the not so distant future. As it stands, I haven't finished it yet, but I am close. I will post a review soon.

I haven't experienced any of the issues with the XBOX360 version of Grand Theft Auto V, but even with a so-far bug-free experience, I can't say that I'm overly impressed with it.

For starters, for a game that's been in development for as long as it has, it doesn't feel like that much of an upgrade over Grand Theft Auto IV.  The controls, which have often been an issue in GTA games, are only slightly improved and feel rather clunky at times.  The handling of the cars feels like a step back from GTAIV's more realistic approach, as often times it feels like the cars are sliding around on ice when driving.

The story, thus far, isn't particularly engaging.  A big part of this has to do with the fact that you're forced to switch between multiple characters throughout the game, which is one of the most pointless and irritating gimmicks I can remember in a game in a while.  The game also tries to go out of its way to prove that its "edgy", but in reality it just comes across as being overly misogynistic to the point that it is just rather offensive.  Rockstar had a chance to really bring some maturity to the game, which would have been appropriate considering that the subject matter of the game's story is, at its core, rather serious, but they instead decided to take things in the opposite direction and take it much further with their perceived "envelope pushing", which was a mistake.

You make some good points there, however overall i disagree with you. Yes it is misogynistic but in all honesty- did you expect Rockstar to go down the mature route? GTA IV was a good game but the general consensus was that it was a bit boring and restrictive. After GTA: San Andreas, IV seemed scaled down and a step back rather than a step forward in my opinion. You can argue that IV was the most "mature" GTA game they've made.

GTA V I think is what many people wanted after the slightly disappointing IV. The size and scale of V is astonishing. It's visually impressive for the most part, despite the occasional texture pop-in, but they really squeezed every last drop of power out of these ageing consoles.

I suppose the car-handling is a matter of opinion, but i prefer it in this game. I found it frustrating in IV, I felt like my tires were glued to the road when driving.

I find the character switching refreshing. I can see why some might say it's gimmicky but I feel it really works well. GTA IV's missions were dull and repetitive whereas in this one they're quite exciting, especially the heists.

I really don't know what they're going to do for the next GTA game. I feel V has everything anyone could possibly want to do in it. Perhaps they'll grant you your wish and make the "mature" game you're looking for next time, though I wouldn't hold your breath.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't necessarily expecting a "mature" game this time around.  I was actually hoping that they'd go back to a bit more of the silliness that the previous game that took place in San Andreas had going for it.  Given the seriousness of the story that they decided to tell, though, I think that they would have been better served going in a more mature direction.  That said, though, I think that they could have done without the over-the-top misogyny.

I'm hoping for another Vice City game for GTA6. Although, I wouldn't mind a totally new setting as long as they don't return to Libery City.

September 17th, 2013, A day I will never forget. A day no one will. The day, arguably the most anticipated game of the year and of the last year, hell, two years was released. $800Million in one day and a billion in three, Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V is here and easily by far the greatest entry in the franchise since 2002's Vice City.

Grand Theft Auto V - 10/10 - Xbox 360

I love the GTA franchise, and even though I could care less for GTAIV, I was anticipated for five. An improved and vastly different Los Santos, a change in story direction, multiple playable characters, and all the craziness that made GTA so much fun was brought back after the lifeless installment that was IV. Was spending over $150.00 worth it? Yes. Was waiting in line with hundreds of people for over two hours worth it? Yes. Was it worth putting anything social on hold? Yes, well maybe. Point is, the wait in line and the five year wait was totally worth it. Grand Theft Auto V is by far and probably will be the greatest game this year on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it will rank as one of the most popular and greatest games on those consoles, and will be probably the greatest game of this console generation. I seriously see no flaws with this game, and to those, whom I have already seen on here and elsewhere, you are overthinking the game as whole and not seeing it for what it really is.

GTAV features a slight, yet big change in story. The story is about pulling off heists, and not just being someone's "assistant" or "trying to find the american dream." It's about three characters: Michael, former bank robber who goes into protection with the FIB and takes a deal to get out of the life. Franklin, a young man who wants the life of living huge and wants to pull off a big job rather than a petty job. And then there's Trevor, the cranked up, psychopathic old friend of Michael. These three must learn to work with each other and pull off heist after heist while dealing with their own problems. It's essentially a Crime Saga of EPIC proportions.

It's beautifully detailed, and looks phenomenal on a console this old now. It's one of the best looking games I've played in a LONG time. The cars are fantastic, and each handle well, but if you're expecting a sports car, say the Ford GT to handle well in the desert, then you're an idiot. Each car has it's respective handling on the different surfaces, which makes it unique. The story is consistent, funny, action packed, and great. It isn't dull or inconsistent as GTAIV was. GTAV is the first game in the franchise that made me make it an effort to finish the game 100%, and the last one was Vice City. The usage of the three characters isn't dull, or a pointless irritating gimmick, it makes sense to have it, and gives you the freedom to do what you want with each character and has you choose those characters and their respective missions in any order. It also makes for the action parts of the game fun where you can be taking heavy as Franklin, switch over to Michael and cover with sniper fire, and switch over Trevor as defense. It gives you endless freedom with them. The controls are easy and simple enough to catch onto with the very fist mission. As for these Technical issues, I have no idea what you are talking about, I've played this game for at least a hundred hours and I see nothing wrong with it, no bugs or frame rate issues.

One of the aspects I really loved was the music. The radio stations are great, and the songs are great with my favorite song being Phil Collins' "I Don't Care Anymore." But what makes it great is that It's also the first GTA game to have an accompanying music score. With Music supervision from Woody Jackson and the score composed by Tangerine Dream with the help of Oh No, and The Alchemist, it sounds absolutely brilliant. The score reminds me very much at times to that of Michael Mann's 1981 classic Thief and the score has a great synth to it and it totally works with the game. There are two stars to this game. Rockstar, for their amazing job, but the real stars are the respective voice actors for Michael, Franklin, and Trevor. They do such a phenomenal job with the voice acting, it's crazy.

Having just beat the game about 3 hours ago, this game will have tons of replay value for me, with the side missions, activities, and the exploration of Los Santos and Blaine County. It's the first GTA game that I will go back reply from the beginning many times, and that's a good feeling, and that's what it's all about. It's a game I cried not to end, but sadly, all great things must come to an end. Grand Theft Auto V is a modern gaming masterpiece, it will be a game I will think of when someone asks me about this current console generation. It's a game that stands above the hype and earns every accolade and achievement and that's that. If this game is what Rockstar could do for this current gen, I can imagine what they'll do for the next gen with Grand Theft Auto, I just hope that the beautiful, sunny Vice City makes a return.

Having not actually played V yet, all signs point to this. GTA IV was for me, a huge step back from 'San Andreas' which remains one of my favourite games. I hated the way IV got rid of all of the character customisation options of SA and it was generally just a bleaker-looking game with none of the glamour I loved about SA.

Great review, Ace. I agree that the game is one of the greatest games of this generation....but the best? I'm a little skeptical there. My playthrough was clearly much glitchier than yours. From what I can tell from people's comments about this game, it is completely random which versions and players are affected. Most people have said that the retail PS3 version has the least technical issues, but I had numerous problems with it. At least you didn't though. As it is, I rank it number 3 on the list for best game of 2013 after The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite. I love GTAV a lot, but in my opinion, it isn't the greatest game ever. I agree though that it is the best GTA since Vice City.

Top 5 so far of 2013:

1. The Last of Us- PS3

2. Bioshock Infinite- PS3/X360/PC

3. Grand Theft Auto V- PS3/X360

4. Gone Home- PC

5. Tomb Raider- PC/PS3/X360

Still to come:

Beyond: Two Souls

Batman: Arkham Origins

Battlefield 4

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Killzone: Shadow Fall

Rain

South Park: The Stick of Truth

and of course.....Xbox One and Playstation 4

It's already on it's way to be the best game this year and the best selling yet. I never said it was the greatest game ever, I stated that it's the best game for this game console generation, as It easily stands tall. I played The Last Of Us and I honestly wasn't impressed with it, as it felt incredibly slow and terribly paced and not to mention it tries a bit much. While BioShock Infinite is a great game, it doesn't come near GTAV at all. Both are impressive in many aspects, but GTAV surpasses it by a thin, but close margin. Tomb Raider? That's laughable, considering it's one of the most repetitive games this year, considering all the hype behind it and feels more like a disaster film with Lara Croft, then a survival tale.

Nice review Ace, and i agree, for once, with every single word you said. Monumentous achievement for Rockstar. They have surpassed my expectations and then some. My favourite game of this generation.

And Far Cry 3 is my second favourite. Gorgeous visuals, BEAUTIFUL island setting. Sandbox games are the way forward. Despite how much I liked Bioshock Infinite, it was too linear.

That's the last time i try to be nice to you, you jumped up little-

Only problem with Far Cry 3 was that once you take over all the outposts and finish the main story, the islands become a little quiet.

Since there are no pirates left ( they don't re-spawn), no one is trying to attack you and all of a sudden all the weapons you have on you seem overkill.

Sure, there are side-quests and collecting relics to do but I wish they instilled a bit more replay value. That said, i'd gladly start the story over again.

Sorry, after some of the remarks and assumptions you've made about me in the past, There is not a chance I would agree with you in the future on anything, though I applaud you for the try at the Bond reference.

Back to Far Cry 3, Best thing to do is to either buy the DLC, Blood Dragon, or restart the campaign on the hardest difficulty.

Just completed the story mode of 'Arkham City', and found it great fun. Looking forward now going back to do the side missions and stuff.

I actually pre-ordered 'Arkham Origins' lastnight also, which I've not done for any game in a couple of years now. But it was a bargain price to get it at, and I've really loved these games and how much fun they've made the Batman character and universe to play in.
