I have two:

Bond, in trouble on a train in Turkey with an assassin and an ineffectual female sidekick. (Skyfall, From Russia With Love)

Bond has a Stag in Diamonds Are Forever and one outside his family home.

Okay, maybe the second one's stretching it a bit.

Given some of the things Connery has said about Barbara Broccoli's father, I'm not convinced that she'd want to work with him.

Plus, the similarities with Connery are really that he's an elderly Scot. Given that Bond grew up in Scotland, it really goes wihout saying that a family retainer from his childhood is probably going to be an elderly Scot.

The whole Bond-Scotland connection was inspired by Connery.

True enough, but that was 50 years ago. I just don't see them going back to him. Anyway, if there'd been any overtures to Connery about coming out of retirement, surely we'd have heard about it?

Bond commenting Eve's driving in the PTS reminded me TSWLM.

Also the red train itself could be the Octopussy Circus' train.

The deer statues mounted on the Skyfall wall is the same as the one seen in the Thunderball PTS.

Silva's orgasmic shouts when he detonates the gap to make the train fall avobe Bond reminds me a little to Xenia Onatopp or, even more similar, to Wint's orgasmic shout when Bond sends him "with the tail behind his legs" in DAF.

That's a good one, Nicolas. Silva does share Xenia's peculiarly lusty enthusiasm for mayhem.

That'd be a neat little nod to his gambling ways Joyce!

I'll keep an eye out for him on my viewing tomorrow.

Has anyone mentioned that Bond gets Q Branch to trace the bad guy using his own very unique bullet? Shades of 'The Man With the Golden Gun' there, no?

But I can believe that Kincade was inspired by late-career Connery, and perhaps written with his voice and personality in mind.

Yeah, I can buy that. It would probably be quite hard not to think of Connery when writing it, but I don't think they'd seriously have entertained the idea of asking him to do it.

Heard (read) that before. And can't remember where it was, but I also read that it wasn't Tom So, but his brother.

I had a look. As Bond starts to leave the casino, before being cut off by the bodyguards, there is an Oriental gentleman with longish tied back silver hair and a hint of a beard. I personally don't think it is Tom So (Fukutu), but if someone told me otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised.

'Stop touching your ear' - Bond to Eve in the casino was a nice nod to CR

There were also multiple 'Thankyou's' scattered throughout which really is a DC trade mark now.

The most polite Bond.

I thought I was the only one who realized this! Now I use it alot in my daily life!

"For her eyes only" is rather obvious, together with the file handed to Bond at the end which reads, "For your eyes only. Top secret. OO7"

At the end of QOS, when Bond asks M if she has any regrets, M responds: "Of course not. That would be unprofessional."
This is alluded to at some point in Skyfall when M says: "Regretting things is unprofessional" (or something to that effect).

I've only seen Skyfall once so far. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about? I'll pay more attention when I see it again in a couple days.

Good observation. She says that to Silva when she faces him in the isolation chamber.

That's actually an homage to Fleming's Goldfinger novel. I believe it's said quite distinctly, there. Surprised they made the reference two films in a row, actually. Works far better in Skyfall than Quantum.

As an homage to the series as a whole I like how Silva offered Bond a 50 year MacCallan...

...which goes for about $10,000 a bottle BTW

It's funny how NSNA hommages always creep up for anniversary films. DAD had the whole bar on the beach scene from NSNA reproduced verbatim.

It isn't exactly an homage, but I'm sure we all realized that, in the last scene, the "new" offices for Moneypenny and M are exactly like the old office from the Connery-Moore-Bernard Lee-Lois Maxwell days. Right down to the hat rack by the door and the leather-padded inner door to M's office. Far more traditional than the ultra-modern offices from the past few films.

And again, not exactly an homage, but the "new" M looks an awful lot like a young Bernard Lee - his hair and his three-piece suit. And Moneypenny's dress at the end is very much in the style of the 1960s - exactly the kind of thing Lois Maxwell would have worn in the Sean Connery films.

So we've come full circle.

Excellent post! Loved the leather-padded door and basically the same layout of the office as during the Lee/Brown M days.

I'm surprised though that a few of the most obvious references have not been mentioned yet:

Bond's fight on the train (along with him hanging off the side of it) right out of Octopussy.

Bond in the crane, a nod to Bond killing Blofeld (at least we think) in DAF.

Bond tells M to "get in" his car. This line was used several times in QOS and once in LTK.

And the most obvious nod:

Silva, a former MI6 agent that has been corrupted and is now out for revenge, just like Alec in GE.

It's funny how NSNA hommages always creep up for anniversary films. DAD had the whole bar on the beach scene from NSNA reproduced verbatim.

Very good. Forgot about that one! Though it can also be a nod to DN just before Felix introduces himself.

Unlike many of the other things mentioned in this thread which are almost certainly coincidences borne out of 23 movies, the old office is definitely an homage! :)

Bond's line, "What a waste of good scotch" after Severine is shot reminded me of Sharkey's "What a terrible waste...of money" line after Killifer is devoured by sharks along with the suitcase of cash in LTK.

Yes you're right. But it's not JUST an homage - it's a reversion to the norm. I think we can safely assume that the next Bond movie(s) will have the traditional opening scenes: Bond arrives at the office, banters with Miss Moneypenny, receives his brief from M, and swings by Q branch for his equipment. That sequence of scenes has been absent, and now they have set the table for it to resume in a natural way.

I have two more homages, both from TWINE:

MI6 headquarters explosion.
Bond seriously injures himself falling from a moving vehicle.

Also from FRWL:

Villian tries to seduce someone of the same sex.
