Daniel Craig Promises 'Skyfall' Won't Be An Emo Bond Flick
Director Sam Mendes isn't making 'some chamber piece about people's emotions,' Craig assures MTV News.
James Bond fans fear not, there will be plenty of action in the much-anticipated upcoming Bond flick, "Skyfall."
For months, the rumor mill had Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes stripping away the action for the 23rd Bond movie in order to make a more dramatic movie that reflected the emotional depth of the characters.
But when MTV News recently visited the London set of "Skyfall", James Bond himself, Daniel Craig, was quick to dispel those rumors, assuring fans that he and Mendes have struck a balance between drama and the action that Bond flicks are known for.
"I sat down with Sam Mendes two years ago, three years ago — now it's getting on four — and we discussed what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it, and he's one of the biggest Bond fans around," said Craig, who's taking on the 007 role for the third time.
"He's not out to do an angst-ridden movie, some chamber piece about people's emotions," Craig continued. "It's a Bond movie. But we both agreed that if he cast the film, which he did really well, and we brought in older characters and new characters, that we'd have something really rich and sort of exciting to watch."
The cast includes Judi Dench (playing "M" for the seventh time), Ralph Fiennes in a mysterious role and Oscar winner Javier Bardem.
"I think it's a James Bond movie and this movie is going to have everything that any James Bond fan would expect and even more," Bardem told us. "Also the emotional aspect of it and the action aspect of the movie as well, it's going to contain a lot of surprises for the audience."
And Bardem should know what fans want as a longtime fan of the franchise. "I've seen many, many James Bond movies," he said. "It's fun to be part of one of them. It's really fun, but again, it's also about the people ... around this movie that is really exciting to work with — amazing cast, a great director and great character to play. It's a very serious movie, it's very solid."
Bond fans can catch all the "Skyfall" action when it hits theaters November 9.

Hi, any way this can be made available to us in the UK please?
I think you could try with a proxy server in order to change your IP address, otherwise you'll have to wait until someone post the videos on youtube.

I don't know if we'll get a nice, slow teasing trailer like 'Casino Royale' with nice loud and frantic action or if we'll get a more muted, tense and thrilling teaser with more real voice-over / conversation than action.
Can't wait, that's for sure!

Daniel Craig Says 'Skyfall' Bond 'Not So Broken-Hearted'
'He's much softer and nicer now,' Craig tells MTV News on London set.
When we last left James Bond in "Quantum of Solace," he was on a mission of vengeance after being scorned by a past love. "Quantum" picked right up where "Casino Royale" left off, and even though there was a lot of action in the flick, Bond wasn't Bond: He transformed into a cold, hard character, who audiences never saw crack a smile or have his martini shaken.
Fast-forward four years: Bond has had time to heal and seems to be ready to get back to his old form, even if he has traded in his martini for a Heineken. MTV News visited the London set of Daniel Craig's third Bond flick, "Skyfall," and he told us fans will see him portray a whole new 007.
"He's much softer and nicer now," Craig explained. "It's just different ... hopefully, it's different again from that ['Casino Royale']. There was a story to telling 'Quantum' that we had to finish off and round off. He was hurt and broken-hearted; he's not so broken-hearted. He's on the mend; he's feeling much better."
While little is known about the plot of "Skyfall," the 23rd Bond film, what we do know from the official synopsis is that Bond's loyalty to Judi Dench's character, M, is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. That leaves a lot of holes that need to be filled, but, of course, Craig wouldn't give away too much. After all, it's top-secret information.
Craig said Bond's relationship with M is "a very important part of the film." "There's also the very important relationship he has with the bad guy in the movie [Silva, played by Javier Bardem]. We got Javier to come and do that, which gives the film a richer content, but his relationship with M, they are very close and they basically go on an adventure together, she gets out in the field. Judi, she'll tell you she usually films most of her stuff in the studio like this while we are all off in some wonderful location and she gets to come with us this time."
"Skyfall" hits theaters November 9.

The trouble is, if someone does put them on YouTube, MTV immediately complains and they are taken down in seconds. The MTV website says, go to the UK site, everything is there, but it isn’t. It says, you can still watch them on the US site, but when you try, it will not let you. This sort of thing ALWAYS happens with bloody MTV videos and Eon will keep giving them exclusives.
Oh well, that’s living in the UK for you. You’d think they’d do something nice to make up for this sort of treatment, like giving us the film early.

Daniel Craig Talks James Bond's Relationship With M In 'Skyfall'
Not much is known about the latest James Bond movie, "Skyfall," and we likely aren't going to find out any more plot details any time soon. MTV News recently visited the set of the film and chatted with Daniel Craig who maintained the ultra-secretive nature of the production by refusing to spill any new elements of the story. But what he would talk about are the various relationships Bond has with the other characters in the film.
The little we do know about "Skyfall" tells us that Judi Dench's character M gets to come to the forefront in this flick.
According to the official plot synopsis, Bond's loyalty to M is threatened when a secret from her past comes back to haunt her. It's up to him to track down and get rid of the threat in order to protect MI6 and the world. Craig said he and Dench had a lot of fun having more time to film scenes together.
"They're very close, and they kind of basically go on an adventure together," he said. "She gets out in the field. Judi, she'll tell you, she usually films most of her stuff in the studio like this while we're all off in sort of some wonderful location, and she gets to go with us this time."
But Bond's relationship with M isn't the only one to play a big role in the film. Javier Bardem's character, a villain named Silva, is also apparently someone who has a significant relationship with Bond.
"We kind of got Javier to come in and do that which, again, which just gives the whole film a sort of richer content," Craig said. When asked if Silva will give 007 a run for his money, Craig quickly answered, "He certainly does, yes."
But to Craig, James Bond is not a hero, and that's why he finds the character so intriguing.
"I think he's a flawed character," Craig said. "His attitude towards women and his attitude towards the world is very dubious, but I think that's interesting, and I think if you throw him into a situation with really strong characters and you watch them battle it out, then I think it just makes for interesting watching."

On M's involvement in Skyfall:

While I strongly feel that the film is looking fantastic, this is the only aspect that I find worrying. I have been getting very bored of Dench's M being overly involved in the films. She was only recently on location in Casino Royale, as well as fictitiously in Bolivia *and* Russia in QoS.
I really hope they do something surprisingly good with this one because, as TWINE showed most, it is very easy to have M become overtly a weak-looking mother figure. The whole idea of MI6 being like some strange little cosy family just really bugs me. In the book Moonraker, Bond goes to Blades club with M to observe Drax on the card tables. This is one of the cosiest moments between them, yet even there M was clearly still a rigid authority figure commanding great respect and the whole affair was still professional. This was also a very rare occasion which made it better.
I really hope that the writers have avoided what they did with TWINE and maintain a solid professionalism and genuine urgency to the related events. I never bought that M would just swan off into the field at the strange and untrustworthy request of some troubled woman. I also always feel that most of the great escapist moments in Bond films are when he's alone, doing his own thing and being cool, not when he's tied down looking after M or playing conversational chess with another woman. I am hopeful that they will have plenty of this in the film, as it's fairly obvious stuff, and I mostly trust Sam Mendes as director, still can't get over that choice!

Sorry, but it looks like Skyfall is going to be TWINE mark II. M and Bond will probably share a drink together (heineken) and who knows, when they get cosy in the lodge he might make her a quiche?
In all seriousness, M is going to be heavily involved and she'll be more motherly than ever. Get over it!

But if this is truly Judi's last film, then why not let her go out with a bang.

My feelings exactly. And if you know who becomes M, I hope we don´t see more of his gun expertise in future films. Let him be fat and behind a desk, with his charatan pipe. But if this is truly Judi's last film, then why not let her go out with a bang.

Javier Bardem's 'Skyfall' Character Will Be Unlike Any Bond Villain
'It's complex — he's not an easy guy,' actor tells MTV News on London set of 007 flick.
With more than 20 movies in the franchise, the James Bond series has produced a wide range of memorable villains. From Le Chiffre in "Casino Royale" to Goldfinger to Blofeld, each Bond nemesis has tried — and failed — to take down 007.
The next villain to take on the challenge will be Silva (played by Javier Bardem), who'll try his luck against Daniel Craig's Bond in the upcoming "Skyfall." MTV News recently visited the movie's London set and we asked Bardem how Silva stacks up against Bond's long list of famed adversaries.
"I never pretend to be the best Bond villain ever, that would be too much to think of yourself," Bardem said. "I think the character — it's complex — he's not an easy guy. He's not only a villain, it's more than that, hopefully, that's what we tried to achieve.
"I'm saying this in the middle of a shooting," he emphasized. "Then the director and the editor has to make decisions and put the movie together, and then out of that is what the character will become."
Little is known about why Silva is after Bond, and Bardem wasn't about to tell us. He remained tight-lipped, saying even he was unsure how the rivalry will play out on screen.
"I don't know, we have to see the movie to see that, because I know what I've done as an actor, but I haven't seen the movie, so I cannot tell you how the movie is going to look like," Bardem said. "I have an idea I think that it is going to be a very, very exciting movie to watch."
Bardem hopes his transformation into Silva will ultimately be something fans have never before seen onscreen. "In these times, there is nothing that we haven't seen before, but I guess it's a different type of person [than] I've played before," he explained.
Bardem has good track record when it comes to playing villains: His haunting performance as Anton Chigurh in "No Country for Old Men" won him an Oscar. So what makes the actor so good at being bad?
"I see them more than villains, I see [them] like people with some circumstances behind them that make them act and react the way they do," Bardem said. "It's not only a sign you have to put on a character like, 'This is a villain.' It's a man who has some trouble going on and he has to cope with it."
"Skyfall" hits theatres this fall.
