It depends on the plot of the film, I suppose. Bond has to have a valid reason for visiting a particular location. Its not like the travelogues of the 60s, 70s & 80s. People have all the locations of the world at the fingertips on the Net.

However, where I would like Bond to visit are the following:

1) Canada: how come Bond has never been there?

2) Eastern Europe: by this, I mean places like Poland, Czech Republic & Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, former Yugoslavian countries and former Soviet Republics in this region. I don't think these locations have been used.

3) Almost all of the Southern Hemisphere: yes, I would like to see a Bond film take place entirely in the Southern Hemisphere with Bond globe-trotting between Australia, New Zealand & Indonesia, South Africa & its neighbours, and Argentina & Chile.

4) The Pacific Islands: To quote an old Persian saying - "If there is heaven on Earth, it is here, it is here, it is here." Blue Lagoon, anyone?

A return to Las Vegas is in order... Watching DAF just shows how much this town has grown up.

A new trip in France, in the south of the country, near the place I live.
In Provence or in Perigord, there are many glamourous places.

Also, Bond hasn't visited Sub-Saharan Africa except Madagascar in CR (and the scene was shot in Bahamas...).
This continent, and Oceania too, has not been very visited in the saga...

A new trip in Japan, that would be great !!

Australia
New Zealand
Quebec (Canada)
Sweden or Norway
Uzbekistan (Samarkand and Bukhara)
Israel
Chile
East european countries (Croatia for example)

And why not Antartic ?! Bond have visited space too fight Drax, but never Antartic !

I can imagine a harrowing torture scene involving a truffle pig.

Other then these place I have mention.

Nepal
Arabian Peninsula (AKA Arabia)
Tunisia
Australia
Saudi Arabia
United Arab Emirates
Iran
Georgia
Bosnia
Taiwan
Minsk

IF it returning to places he been to before, then I like to see him go to any of these places. That depending on what is the storyline.

Monte Carlo

Macau

Afghanistan

Kazakhstan

Hong Kong

Hamburg

Also maybe this place

Bahrain

But it really depends on the plot line Michael G. Wilson and Barbara wants. Also the director and writer they are working with.

Yes, they've never been there before!

By the way, Mods, this thread should be moved to the Bond 24 forum.

As for the location somehow relating sensibly to the plot -- that's a given. That's part of the premise of this thread.

Some ideas lend themselves more directly to plots, and others less so. That's OK ! Some places might serve only as a resting place for Bond to spend time with a lovely lady before venturing forth, endangering himself.

So, that being said: Here's an idea that might serve either way -- lovely place for some fun for our hero, or more centrally relating to the plot.

There are a number of heartbreakingly beautiful resorts in Southeast Asia, especially the "Aman---" ones. Aman.this and Aman-that. Well-known for infinity pools, placed on a hillside, so you look out over the edge to a gorgeous jungle.

Clearly, any of these would serve as delicious eye-candy for hunka-hunka handsome Bond and wowie-zowie lovely lady to spend some romantic time together, seducing the audience, depending on the audience member, with the sight of him, her and all with the sights of the place.

On the other hand -- were the non-used plot of Fleming's You Only Live Twice used, it could serve well. Shatterhand (really Blofeld, or really the semi-deposed leader of Quantum, Mr. White or otherwise) and his deadly garden could be nearby...on an island...or just some isolated but beautiful place. Must be Japan, because of the culture of suicide, you say ? I doubt the film-makers would go off characterizing the Japanese as suicide-inclined, if the re-made YOLT. That is not a plot necessity. It could be eco-adventurers who meet their doom there. Mr. White and the Quantum folks were all about power and profit, not madness, like Blofeld (at least, near his end), you say ? Perhaps White/other Quantum leader would get that way, having gone off their rocker somewhat after their dreams of domination fail...to be picked up, of course, by other Mega-Rich folks who have no real national loyalty and believe themselves citizens of no particular political, locational or spiritual entity.

Now, re-making YOLT, whatever it would be called, would reasonably bring on the question of: does Fleming's trilogy get remade ? The wedding (OHMSS), revenge (YOLT), rebirth after the mental snap at the end of the revenge story (TMWTGG) trilogy. TMWTGG was the weakest, least grand story and plot, but that can be helped. Doing this also would bring Bond back into the snow. This time around, the snow story need not be located in central Europe. It could be anywhere with peaks and snow.

The moon would be more ideal. Or an asteroid some rich megalomaniac is mining, whilst forming some devilish plot. Well, maybe not for Bond 24. But certainly if the franchise is still going when these prospects become common then I see nothing wrong with utilizing space in some far future plot.

I've always thought that Mount Kilimanjaro would make an excellent Bond location. It's loaded with ski resorts and hiking stations, which would provide an excuse to send Bond there. It would have made an excellent gag location during the Moore era. Picture it: the PTS begins with Bond in a parka skiing through a snowy landscape, with suitably dark, minor-key music, all suggesting that he's in Siberia. Some mooks appear and give chase, and within a few minutes Bond has skied to the bottom of the mountain, arriving into the midst of giraffes and elephants.

I just got back from Cartagena, Colombia. I met a journalist acquaintance of mine in a bar that had a very.......colorful pack of denizens. American Oil Workers, Shady Emerald Dealers, British Shipping execs, Spanish Real Estate Tycoons.....all in a Caribbean backdrop that is not very well known. I think that could work very well as a setting.

The southern Caribbean would be a cool area to explore, particularly if it took in Belize, which is ripe for Bondian treatment.

Croatia has always been one of my favorite locations for any action movie. It has:
- the old city of Dubrovnik with its walls all around where you can walk on, narrow streets climbing up, a fort at the top of a mountain, a picturesque harbor;
- dozens of islands and a twisting and turning coastline;
- the waterfalls of Plitvice;
- the Roman amphitheater in Pula;
- the remains of Roman emperor Diocletian's palace in Split which would be great for a foot chase.

Craig hasn't done anywhere properly cold and snowy yet, so let's get him in the Alps on skis in the next one - we haven't had action on skis since TWINE, so enough time has passed.

Locations wise, I'd quite like to see 007 in Spain a little, maybe on horseback in Africa. Also why not a little more in provincial UK, there are some evocative British locales outside London they could utilise.

The Macau in Skyfall looked real fake, like a build set, and that they didn't go on location to film it at all. It sure was NOT the Macua I saw in the HK movies Look for a Star staring Andy Lau Tak-Wah and Shu Qi and the Johnnie To movie Exiled staring Anthony Wong, Francis Ng, Simon Yam, Nick Cheung and Roy Cheung.
