I think he's some kind of...

The former ghillie of the Bond family estate in Glencoe who Bond knows he can trust and rely upon when he needs somewhere to hide out after he and M flee London. It appears he has remained at Skyfall Lodge, despite no members of the Bond family continuing to live there. As far as I can tell, Kincade is killed in the showdown with Silva's men, perhaps while trying to protect M.

It goes a little out of the box (claims he's Poirot in disguise etc.) but the character is discussed in this thread. Hope this helps .

I get the sense that Kincade will basically function as the personification of Skyfall Lodge. At first, he'll provide earthy humor and local color. By talking to M, he'll supply the audience with a lot of exposition about Bond's history and the nature of the Lodge. And by dying, he'll serve as a sacrificial lamb to up the stakes in the third act.

If he's genuinely on Bond's side, I wouldn't be surprised if he survives.

I can't help but think there is a connection between Kincade and Silva because of their interest in old fashion guns.

We know that Kincade is from Bond's past and Silva is from M's past so something must bring them all together, right?

Nothing officially confirmed about Kincade, but I believe my post is mostly (or maybe entirely) correct.

I would be surprised if he survives the film. We know that the house gets destroyed, and Kincade is inextricably linked to the house. I see him going down with the ship.

He's a gamekeeper. He probably has his own cottage on the estate.

Kincade and Silva both can't just happen to use 'such old fashion' guns can they?

It's a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma!

Just noticed something kind of neat. In the James Bond special put out by the South Bank Show in 08, there's a clip of Harry Saltzman talking about Sean Connery being selected for the role. He said "He moves extremely well." Then, he goes on to say, "There's only one other actor that moves as well as he, and that's Albert Finney." How freaking cool is it that Finney is finally getting his chance to play a role in a Bond film?

The bit can be seen around 1:25

Yeah, the implication being that they're both big men, but they're light on their feet.

Finney starred in a couple of Saltzman's films before the Bond series started, of course.

In the same way If I remember correctly , Fiennes tried to play Bond Twice before the Brosnan and before the Craig era

There was an interview with Fiennes in 1994/95, where he talked a bit about Bond. It was implied that Barbara Broccoli was keen on him taking the role. But he wanted to play it as a darker, more Flemingian Bond, and the studio weren't interested in going down that route at the time.

Similarly, Debbie McWilliams wanted to cast Albert Finney as the villain in Tomorrow Never Dies, but Roger Spottiswoode vetoed the idea.

I'd say they both got a better deal in the end, anyway.

I saw my first photo of Albert Finney as Kincade in the Mail On Sunday "Bond special" magazine today. According to what I've read, he's the Skyfall gamekeeper, and he's heavily bearded. And he and Bond are shown with a pair of old rifles, ready to take on the bad guys.

I wonder if he's the comic relief? Or a kind of male equivalent of the Scottish treasure from the books, May?

This film is less than a month away and gets ever more intriguing.

I can't wait to see Bond and Kincade hunting together, reminds me of Bond and Emilio Largo shooting disks in TB, Bond and Hugo Drax hunting together in MR, Bond using the shotgun in AVTAK and now this, just awesome. They've really pulled out all the stops in this one, a great time to be a Bond fan.

I think Kincade is character analoguous to Bond's aunt Charmian Bond, being Bond's guardian after the death of his parents.

So the two figures in Bond's life who represent anything resembling parents will be together in the end.

Interesting, so they are implying that Kincade took care of Bond as a teen after his parents passed. Was Bond going to live with his aunt Fleming canon or was that something that originated with the Young Bond books? Anyways, seems Bond is getting his very own Alfred. lol Seems fitting considering that Nolan turned Lucius Fox into a Q wannabe.

Is Finney okay? He seems to have trouble breathing in that video...

This quote just goes to show that even I'm not wrong all the time:

I think there's probably something to the 'surrogate father' thing we were mulling over before. But perhaps not quite in the way we were thinking. That of him being in a position of power. But rather one of Bond being 'raised by the servants'.

Kincade could be the person Bond was closest to during his formative years. Took him fishing, taught him how to use a gun, etc. So, Bond allowed him to stay on at the estate.

Fleming canon, from the YOLT obituary.
