Apparently the idea of using Connery in the role was briefly considered.....

Well, they definitely made the correct decision not to ask him!

Definitely! That would have been the most disturbing, mind-boggling, unsettling casting decision of the whole franchise. The "CraigIsNotBond.com" wave would have been nothing compared with the "ConneryIsBondAndNotKincade.com" riot.

On second viewing, Albert Finney was born for that role, not Connery and it's such a wonderful part, Finney delviers every line just perfectly and really gives it his all.

Got lots of laughs, the biggest of the film, on second screening at the wonderful "...jumped up little [censored]." line.

He was just boring. No acting sorry. The Scotland scenes looked like Home Alone 5...

Oh, shut up. I only saw the film yesterday and I'm already sick of this 'Home Alone' comparison. That franchise has a monopoly on booby-trapped buildings, apparently?

Some obviously haven't seen Straw Dogs...

I agree! What's wrong with this? What did they expected? Bond, "Emma" and Kincade just standing still waiting to be killed? It was awesome to watch them setting deathtraps at the Lodge, and innovative too.

I agree, the 'Home Alone' stint is getting annoying now, but comical if that's what people can only use to pick holes in the finale - a Christmas kids film.

Never mind Bond keeping one step head and using a couple of traps to fight the odds - heck, you could say he's using his brain like a secret agent, and not just unlimited ammo via a sub-machine gun.

He loses ammo, steals weapons and uses his environment - and Kincade adds to the fight brilliantly by not just being the old man who gets in the way.

I think they should remake Home Alone, and have Kevin McCallister think a little more violently about his traps. Shotgun shells and exploding nail bombs would take out the Sticky Bandits in no time, and would end the need for any sequels.

Ha, great idea! In this day of reboots taking a darker, realistic tone, maybe we will one day see 'Home Alone' for the 21st century!

Although the Home Alone comparisons are annoying, you've got to admit that scene reminded you at least little bit of that. I actually find it quite funny.
