Welcome to CBn crisssbit....and a very welcome welcome it is with your news, hope that's true, as it sounds perfect!

Craig may finally get his first 'proper' James Bond film!

For no reason in particular, this past week I had a Roger Moore as 007 marathon - one each night after dinner. I have to say, not only did it make me miss the traditional opening - it made me less excited about Skyfall. Considering how much I love Casino Royale, if Skyfall isn't shaky-cam wo-images-a-second editing, I'll really love Skyfall. Hopwever, the Moore marathon really brought me back to my roots - traditional 007. Here's hoping we get one in November.

That's good news.

I've said this before, but I really, really hope it is exactly like this, with the Quantum footage and the Brosnan CGI.

Think they'll re-use QOS' gunbarrel? Or film a new one? Brosnan's was always stock, but the SF teaser poster uses that original gunbarrel design, not the ones we saw in either CR or QOS.

I'm sure they'll shoot a new one. A classic one. I'm interested to see how Deakins handles it. Wonder if they'll use a pinhole camera this time?

No, just that the gunbarrel's unlikely to be identical to a Youtube fan video. ;)

I'm guessing they'll want to put a new spin on it, with maybe a bit of a reference to the 62-89 sequences. I like Shrublands' idea of a digital fibre-optic camera filming a moving gunbarrel, composited with Craig's walk and gunshot.

Does anyone know if there has been any confirmation of a more traditional gunbarrel sequence? Or in fact any news over it's placement in the film.

No real confirmation yet Saron, just rumour and hope! I too wish it will be there, and hopefully re-shot for the opening Craig now deserves with a decent paced spot and atmospheric music. I always say those first few seconds launch you into the world of Bond in that moment, so to open with them needs to be solid.

And if Mendes is as passionate to bring Bond back with a capital B, hopefully he'll deliver this iconic moment along with THE line and those Vodka Martinis.

I don't think that's something they'll announce. I think we'll find out after the MGM lion roars and the Columbia lady flashes us whilst we're sitting in the cinema.

Since it is everywhere on the various posters, somehow I highly doubt it wouldn't be in the movie itself.

I was hoping that would be the case following it's prominent placement in the marketing thus far. Hopefully back in it's rightful place at the start too.

I just watched the "Secrets of Skyfall" video on the main page and it shows a bit of Craig filming the classic walk, turn and shoot which I assume is for the new gunbarrel.

I think we can all agree that the gun barrel begins at the start of the film, its how you know your watching a Bond film. Its like the countdown to a film.

The question I have is how long until they decide to try something new again?

I watched it too and I agree. Notice he walks much slower than in the QoS gunbarrel....and a different pose when firing.
I think its going to look great, especially with Kleinman back.

Had a closer look at the gunbarrel shown in the Adele advert currently running on Sky Movies 007 HD this evening. Faded and in black and white, which would be an interesting change, but quite like Craig's turn and shoot.

On the idea if they use the gunbarrel, I would make a new poll thread but it probably would be moved for discussion here so I'll put it to you:

What style of gunbarrel music do you want 'Skyfall' to have, for the first proper time we launch into a 'Bond with a Capital B' for Daniel Craig, considernig this sets the tone for the movie...would you like to have...

The big, loud "DA DA DUMMM, DA DA DUMMM, DA DA DA DA DA..." into, like we hear in 'From Russia With Love', 'Live & Let Die', 'The Living Daylights', 'GoldenEye' etc...actually, bar the experimental 'Dr.No', it seems every actor gets the big triumphant intro for their first gunbarrel, so maybe Craig will get this big Bond intro?

That one please. With guitar riff when he shoots.

And TRIANGLE when he's walking! :D

Yes he's very harshly lit from one side, isn't he?

There's a very nice shot of Daniel Craig's gunbarrel position in the "BoS - Filming Skyfall" book.
I took a couple of shots with my phone, so the quality is not so good, but they give you an idea of how it will look like:

Not to mention your purchase will help ensure the production of more of these gems down the line. It is definitely worth having.
