Why do all of these promo shots look like they've been shot in sunlight?

Because they're trying to compensate for Craig's ageing? That's one possible reason why he looks so mannequin-like in most of these posters and prom shots.

While I surmised this was the intention behind it too, I don't know why they kept him looking ghostly white if that was the case. They could still have kept him young without looking sick. And in my personal opinion, he's aging just fine.

Agreed. I actually think he's looking more distinguished, and Bond should have a little visible age - it gives his character more gravitas and respectability. Fleming's Bond went from mid 30s to 40s anyway and was 'cruelly' handsome and all that - scar down his cheek, a little weathered and worldly looking. They shouldn't hide this with Craig in the posters, just enhance it/polish up with warmer lighting and the right make-up. He looked fine at the press conferences and such, I don't see why they should want to white-wash his face and make Bond look pale.

So Mallory is not all bad if bad at all if he is jumping to M's defense. The military background could be a further pointer towards his taking over as M. The scans are brilliant. Thanks for posting them.

I'm a big fan of Fiennes as an actor so I certainly hope he turns out to be a good 'un. I believe Mallory ultimately leaps to M's defence in the inquest, so hopefully that is indicative of his character's true nature.
