Things have gone deadly quiet since shooting wrapped, and this picture does nothing to get me excited for Skyfall.

Great pic! That's the National Gallery, yes, shortly before Bond meets Q.
At the National Gallery?

Isn't that at the British Museum?
I think you mean Room 34.

I believe Bond is facing the following Joseph Mallord William Turner paintings:
- Margate, from the Sea
- Rain, Steam, and Speed - The Great Western Railway\
- The Evening Star
- Ulysses deriding Polyphemus- Homer's Odyssey
He's sitting in the sackler room which is primarily a British gallery.
He certainly could be looking at Ulysses Deriding Polyphemus - Turner's depiction of an episode that happens on Odysseus' journey back from Troy.
I find it very interesting that there could be this reference to Homer and The Odyssey here, as I believe that there will be a subtle theme of Trojan Horses in the film, both in reference to the classical and the ones you get in computers.

The Skyfall issue of Total Film is out, by the way. One of my friends has it, but hasn't had a chance to read it yet. So he didn't get back to me on anythng.

I like this reasoning a lot! Also in the room is ‘The Fighting Temeraire’ also by Turner. It shows the Temeraire, a ship that had been key in Nelson’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, decommissioned and being towed off to be broken up. In this part of Skyfall, Bond is in less than perfect health and is being tested to see if he is fit for active duty. The sight of this painting might well set him contemplating his place in the world. Spy photos indicate that after this scene, Bond might walk out into Trafalgar Square and look up at Nelson standing high over London. It’s interesting that after the issues of the film have been resolved, we will see Bond similarly standing high over the London skyline.
