Could the swimming pool scene be some sort of preparation for a long distance swim? Would be reminiscent of some of the novels, particulary YOLT. Just subsitute the barracudas with guys in jet skis.

It's a nice idea; very Fleming, that. I like the way in the novels Bond often went through physical hell in some way; they should bring that into the films; especially with Craig.

Exactly, Craig´s the one to do it. Wouldn´t it be grand to see Bond really pushing his limits again? And showing off some knowledge on marine life and survival.

I'd say the ball-bashing in CR can be defined as 'physical hell'.

Sadly, i don't see TSWLM-esque conversations showing off Bond's knowledge of XY and Z featuring at all in Craig's era.

We have more of a focus on action, darkness and the brooding dark-side that is Craig's Bond.

I'm literally quivering with excitement to see how Deakins shoots scenes with Bond in his more melancholic moments, having to make hard decisions that disagree with his gut-instincts; his relationship with M especially in Skyfall. The way that leaked photo of Bond by the pool was lit sets an encouraging tone for the film, for me anyway.

Yes, for me too.

But Bond showing off some knowledge doesn´t have to be through dialogue, can be through the action, depending on how it´s written of course. And yes, the ball-bashing in CR worked rather well. Brosnan would have made "the face" in that particular scene, you know, the "xenia is crushing me", "Elektra is crushing my neck", "the pilot is choking me", ...face.

hahahaha yes, the infamous 'face' of Brosnan. Daniel Radcliffe has one too, when he's playing scared in the HP films.

That he has PPK, that he has. But one could argue that Daniel always purses his lips and squints his eyes a bit too often ;)

Great news!
If what Ms Lloyd says is true, the crew of Skyfall (probably the second unit) has already landed in Shanghai to begin the filming of Skyfall.
The 3 times British Rally Champion Mark Higgins arrived in Shanghai the last week to show off his skills behind the wheel in the scenes that will be filmed in the city.
He has previously worked as a stunt driver in the last 007 film when he performed in a reckless car chase driving an Alfa Romeo 159 along the marble quarries of Carrara.

Yeah, I remember a report that Craig would wrap up filming at Charing Cross, then head to Shanghai with the key players for a week or so while the rest of the crew went to Turkey to set up the shoot. Once filming in Shanghai was done, Craig would join production in Turkey.

I wonder exactly how much of the film is set in China. If they're only going over for a week, I don't think it'll be that much. Saying that though, maybe a good part of what's set in Shanghai are interior scenes, which were filmed at Pinewood.

No information yet. Certainly some spectacular driving scenes, otherwise they wouldn't have chosen Mark Higgins.

Filming in Turkey is expected to start at the mid of February.

I'm guessing that's the case.

Mark Higgins off to Shanghai this week to strut his stuff on new movie

Interesting that Higgins is going - he's not actually a stunt driver. He's a rally driver. He worked on the Lake Como chase sequence in QUANTUM OF SOLACE, but he only did the parts that involved the Aston Martin driving along. The collision with the truck and subsequent spin, the part where the Aston squeezed into the traffic to avoid a collision, the sequence with the rolling carabinieri Range Rover and the final part with Bond and the Alfa going opposite ways around a digger were all done by someone else.

Higgins is a gravel specıalıst, and with Sam Mendes' comment that filming will take place in Shanghai and "other parts" of the country, I wonder if this means we're going to get a chase - or at least precision driving - through the Chinese countryside.

A clarification. The opening sequence of QoS was shot on the Lake Garda (differently from the Lake Como which hosted the filming of Casino Royale ), on the Vestito pass and in the marble quarries of Carrara. During the filming of the car chase 2 stunt drivers took turn behind the wheels of the Aston Martin DBS :

Martin Ivanov, professional stunt driver who also won 3 Taurus Awards for his work in the Bourne series
http://www.imdb.com/...1272077/#Stunts

Ben Collins ( aka known as "The Stig"), racing car driver and stunt driver who became famous for his role in the popular Top Gear show.

Mark Higgins played the role of the baddie driving the Alfa Romeo 159.

Well, he's still a gravel specıalıst, so it makes equal sense if he was in the 159.

Looking Forwards To Filming Tomorrow For New James Bond Film #sky fall With #Daniel Craig!
15 Gen

A significant addition to the cast of Skyfall on Castingcallpro. Yesterday this guy has been involved in the filming of Skyfall . The fact that he plays an Isolation Guard leaves space for some deductions: it is likely that at some point in the film we'll see one of the main characters behind bars: my guess is Bond or M.

Perhaps it was always the plan to film in Bognor Regis, for whatever reason - maybe standing in for somewhere like Scotland, or an enclave of expatriates in China - and The Mirror has seen this. Because Bognor Regis isn't particularly exotic and because they seem to have a lifelong grudge against Bond films, they spun it as meaning all of the international locations had been ditched.

Although I am curious as to how specialdelia could see Craig in his swimming trunks if it was too foggy for shooting (and if it was foggy and miserable, why would Craig be in his trunks?). Maybe she's just read The Mirror and decided to run with it.

I’ve never been able to quite work it out – but they are very consistent and relentless.
It could be because some of their competitors seem to like Bond, so they have decided to do the opposite, as you say, because they can.

They don’t like Craig because of his attitude towards the tabloid press, this has compounded the matter, but they were always hostile towards Bond.

It's not what they say, it's that they say it in the first place. The Mirror knows perfectly well that this is completely made up, but they get people talking about it. Given their dislike of Bond in general and Craig in particular, they may be trying to drive people away from the film by making it look bad.

I agree with you Shrublands, I think this woman has misinterpreted what she read in the newspapers yesterday. Based on my research, they were at Pinewood Studios yesterday, but I know nothing more.

It appears that they're currently filming at St Anne's Square today:
