The shorts worn by James Bond (Daniel Craig) in the upcoming film SkyFall have been identified by Forum member sruzgar and confirmed by one of our sources as Orlebar Brown Setter Sky swimming shorts. The shorts can already be spotted in the first image from the SkyFall movie where we see Bond sitting in a swimming pool (a scene filmed in the luxurious pool of the London Four Seasons Hotel in Canary Wharf).
The shorts are a good choice for Bond, with their 1950s look, shorter length and tailored fit. The shorts feature adjustable, engraved tabs at the sides and a zip fly with a single press stud closure. The shorts are made of a quick drying polyamide fabric.
The product code of the Orlebar Brown Setter Sky shorts seen in the film is 25011530.

Price: £125

There was a rumour lately that perhaps he'll spot a beard in the film, but I'm not a real fan of this to be honest.

I can see a 5 0'clock shadow, after days of relentless pursuit of the villain, but a full beard??? Nah... wouldn't work. If the writers were to stay loyal to the bylaws of the Royal Navy, I don't think facial hair is allowed amongst the ranks of officers, is it?

Except that Bond isn't really in the Navy, is he? He holds the rank of Commander, but that's mostly so that he can cut through the red tap and use the Navy when he needs it. MI6 is independent of the Navy, so Bond wouldn't be held to their bylaws.

Sort of. If he had been completely discharged, he would not have retained his rank and he certainly would not have the power to commandeer naval vessels and resources for his assignments. But at the same time, he does not answer to anybody within the Navy.

Agree about the hair. The trousers aren't too short, because they're slim. They'd be too short if they were wider; the idea is that they don't flap as you walk...

He’s a Commander in the RNVR where the VR stands for Volunteer Reserve. I.e. he’s not actually in the Royal Navy but could be called-up in an emergency.
It's what they used to call the “Wavy Navy”.
It’s a rank he’s been given for cover and security reasons.

I think these on-set photos during filming show it. He has the stubble in this particular scene:

Since the first time seeing this photo, and looking at it again now that shirt Criag is wearing looks more like a pajama top. The style and look of it, just has that feel to it. It just don't look like a basic normal causal dress shirt. Once again Craig's hair is a little too short. I can't really tell he got the James Bond hair cut. Since it that short version of the James bond hair cut. Also when he sweets or gets his hair wet, it almost like his trying to spike his hair with gel or water. He should of tryed it not that short.

I´ve always wanted for them to develop this on screen. I like it when they call him Commander Bond. Maybe have him command a group of men in a massive assault to a Villain´s lair? I know it´s been the wish of many fans over the years.

I like the way they handled Bond's naval background in the movies during the 60s, 70s and the 80s. He is Commander Bond. It gives the character another dimension.

Exactly. Shows he has background and tells us something about his prep as an action person (see, was able to avoid saying "man" there, clever aint I?)

I've gotta say it, that leather jacket Craig is wearing reminds me a lot, from that angle, of the Indiana Jones jackets. I own one myself (Raiders of the Lost Ark version in goatskin by Wested), and the color of the leather is similar too. I guess I'll have to ask later who makes the jacket Craig wears in this film.

I thought I'd be used to the idea by now, it seems such a little thing, but every time I see a photo of Craig filming this his hair just looks odder and odder. It's just not very Bondian at all - especially with their constant layering on of how it will be a classic, stylish Bond film. It keeps reminding me of that god-awful Jimmy Bond from the US tv adaptation of Casino Royale - a bit *too* uncouth an image, even given Craig's portrayal, making Bond look more like a run-of-the-mill bodyguard type. To be honest I even thought it was a tiny bit short in CR, let alone this.

Basically I am wondering if this haircut is for a reason in the film, along with the stubble and other oddities. Perhapse he will be letting it grow out of the sheer buzz-cut a little for the rest of the filming.

About the hair:

The way I see it, at this point a crewcut is just Daniel Craig's style. It's all cool with me, although I wouldn't mind a return to a length of hair that could be side-parted or slicked back like the older Bonds did. Craig pulls off the crewcut though, probably better than anybody else in acting.

Slicked back wouldn´t be bad, or side-parted, but at least they can´t gel his hair if it´s that short. He´s not a 13 year old with spiked gelled hair, or a footballer for God´s sake. And you´re right. The guy can pull a crewcut, even with the hears. Can´t imagine Brosnan pulling of a crewcut, even with his own strange hears. BTW, should start a thread over Bond actor´s hears, they all look rather odd don´t they? lol

His hair looks to me just like it did in CR.

I'd think he'll shave off the stubble. Doesn't look good.

Not fond of OO7 sporting a beard. He looks like that crazy doctor guy in HOUSE.

You talk about short pants?? Go back and watch Die Another Day. In the Los Organos sequence, just as Jinx is about to dive off of the clinic tower, check out the suit Pierce Brosnan is wearing. I swear it looks like he bought it off the rack at Utopia Dork.

Pierce covered 'the shrinking suit' on the audio track for DAD. Everytime the suit material got wet it shrank, and as he had just supposedly ran through the sprinklers in the clinic, they had to show him as being wet in each shot.

I'll say this, I can't even see a crewcut version of the Jame Bond hair cut or style on Craig. All the other Bond stars one could tell they had the James bond hair cut and style. With the length their hair is at .

He's been aged ten years with that hairdo. Mistake. Then again, with those swimtrunks, they may be planning another See the Hidden Monster scene as in CR. Wise move.
