Sounds great. Though yes, you can hear there's been some cutting and pasting in the second bit. And I kind of miss the echo at the end.

As a whole I enjoy your Moonraker rerecording stuff very much. You got the right sound every time, especially considering your obvious disadvantage of not having a real life orchestra at your disposal.

Some observations about your wonderful MR tracks:

1. Gunbarrel and hijack: absolutely brilliant. Liked the way you handled the gunbarrel.
2. Freefall: Too bad it contains some sound FX, they really are distracting.
3. Enter the centrifuge: no complaints there.
4. Venini glass works: of course there's the articfial sounding flute at the beginning, but the rest is top notch.
5. Gondola chase: actually, I prefer your first version, without the original film music mixed in. That second version sounded very messy to my ears. Makes me wonder whether Freefall wouldn't sound better without mixed in music too.
6. Rivers and pyramids: nice short cue.
7. Drax shuttle launch: the drums at the beginning give it a nice effect, but I'm not sure they were there in the original music. Would seem more apropriate for You only live twice I think.
8. NASA shuttle launch: works fine, though it got me wondering how much of it was taken from the film.
9. Zero Gravity: as noted above, it sounds great but it needs some smoothening in the second half.
10. Here's to us: another nicely handled short cue.

The sound quality varies, there's a lot of hiss and noise in your recordings. Will you be making available lossless versions of your cues too?

It's good, but you've got the xylophone rhythm wrong. It should be sextuplet 16th notes.

Much of the music from Moonraker was tracked in from other cues from the score

End of ZERO and DESTROYING GLOBES was taked from FLIGHT INTO SPACE and should as therefor not represent what is in the sheet. It can be added as an addendum with a note explaning the inclusion but as a starting point. All sheet should be presented the way it was recorded and written for that matter.

AND the FLIGHT INTO SPACE cue when the choir sings (WRITTEN in english standard tone-name)

E, F#, G#, A-B-C,

With the A-B-C being a 4th triplet containing those three notes

we have 3 wood-wind, all distance-key playin a rythimg figure that says: 4th-triplet and a half note that makes 1 measure - and one whole-note the folowing measure.

It's the same tone

The first beat in the 4th triplet is a break.

RANDOM TRIVIA - There are about 98 measures in FLIGHT INTO SPACE.

I stumbled upon this thread, and even though I know very little about music, the thread is still very interesting to me. I am also very impressed by how much all of you know about music.

gkgyver, the soundtrack to Moonraker happens to be one of my favorites and I think your work sounds great. Question: How did it go with the tracks like "Flight into Space" and "Bond Arrives in Rio" that have vocal parts? I couldn't find these songs posted in this thread (not saying they aren't here, maybe I overlooked them). Were you able to do the vocal parts for your recordings, and if so how do you manage to do them?

I do have a suggestion for the next one, but I feel like the experts should respond instead.

I wish all of you the best with your musical endeavors.

:)

Suggestions:
From TMWTGG: Bond walking in on Andrea taking a shower, and Bond arriving in Macau. (If you have samples of a cimbalom)
From AVTAK: The blimp sneaking up on Stacey, and Bond hanging from the rope of the blimp.

Capsule, Gkgyver only rerecorded unreleased cues, and not the tracks you mention because they are already on the OST album.

I'd just be delighted if you continued your work on Octopussy. I like your systematic approach of rerecording cues. After all, we now have a complete MR, and next a complete OP would be awesome.

That said, if you're in for something different, maybe you could rerecord the FYEO unreleased cues. I think there's some 5 minutes in it, such as Gogol's theme, the death of Ferrara and the casino music.

I'd suggest returning to Octopussy next. Otherwise,

TMWTGG - Goodnight being kidnapped by Scaramanga, Bond trying to release the Solex.
AVTAK - Zorin's Blimp, arrival at Zorin's estate, Zorin meets Gogol.

The thing is, I have no clue what is on the soundtrack for TMWTGG and what is not.

I'm going to upload the revised OP Delhi cue next, along with the revised "Art Depository" and pretitles cues, and then proceed to something else. TMWTGG sounds good though.

I see. So, this project involves recreating unreleased incidental music from the film. For some reason I thought I saw some work Gkgyver did from OTS' from Octopussy and Moonraker. I must has read them wrong. Regardless, this entire project is very impressive.

What other films has Gkgyver done, and have any of you done similar projects?

I think this is Gkgyver's first. He's wanting to do some unreleased John Williams material next.

I haven't done anything like this before, mainly because I don't have the equipment (sequencer, VST sample libraries, MIDI keyboard, mixer etc...). If I did, I'd definitely have a go.

TMWTGG OST -

Man With The Golden Gun [main title]
Scaramanga's Fun House
Chew Me In Grisly Land
Man With The Golden Gun [jazz instrumental]
Getting The Bullet
Goodnight Goodnight
Let's Go Get 'em
Hip's Trip
Kung Fu Fight
In Search Of Scaramanga's Island
Return Ot Scaramanga's Fun House
Man With The Golden Gun [end title]

Not on OST -

Slow Boat From China
Nick Nack Theme
Saida's Nightclub Dance
Bond arrives in Macau
Before Assasination - Scaramanga prepares for the kill by spending time with Andrea and his gun
Water Pistol - Bond meets Andrea
Hai Fat's Resignation - Scaramanga removes Hai Fat
Bond and Goodnight - and a bottle of Phuyuck
Goodnight taken for a ride - in Scaramanga's car
Sun and Cloud - Bond retrieves the Solex

Well thats some of the missing cues as best as I can remember without having seen the movie for a good while. For anyone in the UK, TMWTGG is on TV tomorrow in HD

I don't have a MIDI keyboard.
I mean, I do, but I don't use it for this.

I have done some Lord of the Rings re-recordings a few years ago, and also re-scored a re-cut of the trilogy, but I haven't made it public.
