In Paris, Bond is working undercover as a part of the Russian mafiya as they attempt to liberate one of their own from French custody before he is extradited to Russia to face trial. Bond and the mafiya hit the convony en route from Le Sante prison to Charles de Gaulle international airport, culminating in a firefight in the middle of a busy intersection. Bond is forced to kill an agent in the process in order to maintain his identity.
In London, M has been arrested and stood down from the head of MI6. The incident in Madagascar, the loss of the money in Venice, the escape of Mr. White in Siena, M ignoring the Foreign Secretary's direct orders and now the firefight in Paris have the Powers That Be questionng her ability to do her job. She is arrested for treason, stood down and the Double-Oh Section is closed. Bond is furious with her because her orders were vague and contradictory, and M reveals that his unspoken mission was to compromise her. She wants to take out Quantum, and the only way to do that was to make them think they are wining. Based on intelligence, MI6 know that Quantum believe M to be the one responsible for Bond's triumphs, and that Bond himself is just a gun-for-hire who shoots where M points.
Bond travels to Colombia where he makes his presence known by aiding Quantum in an anti-government operation. At the same time, he draws the attentions of a CIA agent who he wants to follow him and bring the weight of the CIA down on Quantum. Bond is taken to Georgia, where he becomes a part of a Quantum plot to disrupt a Russian natural gas pipeline. As he is drafted into various missions on Quantum's behalf, Bond finds himself having to do increasingly-difficult things morally. He is forced to kill the CIA agent tailing him, and then plants evidence to make it appear that the agent was corrupt. He eventually discovers that Quantum is born out of the "Gemstone" conspiracy that saw America's power founded on the back of brutal oil and drug cartels, the mafia and corrut government agents and agencies. He identifies the leadership as the Director of the CIA, the White House Chief of Staff and the Secretary of Defence, all of whom have been working together to "learn what will happen tomorrow" in order to profit from it.
Bond has a crisis of faith, wondering whether he will make any difference in bringing Quantum down because he may be as corrupt as they are. M arrives, looking to set him on the straight and narrow, but Bond doubts he can and asks her to show him a sign that he can prevail. He receives a phone call from Tanner telling him that M as just died in London after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. This is enough to shake Bond out of apathy and he cuts himself free of Quantum's reins. The film ends with Bond leading Quantum, the CIA and a newly-formed Double-Oh Section into a confrontation. With his knowledge of their operations, Quantum is decimated, but Bond is left a fugitive as the three Quantum leaders remain in power and have decided to turn all of their energy into finding and killing him.

The basic plot is that Bond joins Quantum to fight them from within the belly of the beast.

This does not sound anything like a James Bond film. Which may be the point, I don't know.

It's a Bond film. The elements that make it a Bond film - the Fleimingian stuff - has been left out because this is a bare-bones synopsis and the Flemingian stuff (Bond's lifestyle, etc.) is not essential to the plot. This does not sound anything like a James Bond film. Which may be the point, I don't know.

That said, it's an interesting take on what we already have from people. Mr Blofeld, just realised you specified a location in your stunt submission, so have removed the location specification - but there is room to submit France as the first location so it is still possible to have the stunt there. Now, if I've counted correctly we now have ten unique participants and therefore I'm opening the floor to repeat input from previous participants.

Re: the title, I was imagining we'd keep title choice until the end to decide on a title - once we've made a choice on everything else and have a better idea of the movie.

Having enjoyed Michael Mann's work since "Miami Vice" (the TV series, though he also directed the more recent film of the same name), I agree that he would be an inspired choice. However, going by the films he's directed since 1999's "The Insider," I fear that anyone who didn't like the shaky-cam/flash-editing style of "Quantum of Solace" would not enjoy the visual style he would bring to a Bond film, either. Watching "Public Enemies," I actually felt the visual styles were quite similar.I admit I had to look up who Michael Mann was but having seen that he directed both Hancock and The Kingdom and The Aviator, he's certainly got the credits to do both action pieces and emotional scenes justice.
Good choice!
He actually directed none of those, I think you were looking at his producer credits. He was the director of Heat, Miami Vice, Public Enemies, Collateral, Manhunter, The Last of the Mohicans, amongst others.

My mistake!Nice one, though I think you may not have used an updated version of the list, so you missed out the second stunt in your reposting.
So, now we have the Moon and the Yukon Territory...which one has the higher human population? Your guess is as good as mine.

Who said anything about them being innocent? Who said anything about killing them? The entire point of the story is that Bond is fighting Quantum from within the organisation itself. He has to find a way to stop them without drawing attention to himself. The problem is that he has to start doing things he wouldn't normally consider; Craig likened his interpretation of Bond to a man wondering if he's a good guy doing bad things or a bad guy doing good things. In the example of the CIA agent Bond is forced to kill, it would be in a firefight. The film would make it pretty clear that Bond doesn't go around committing murder.James Bond does not kill innocent people.

Well I don't want to influence anyone else's suggestions. (Now watch as someone puts Mars as the last location

For what I had in mind, Bond himself doesn't actually have to go there...
