My second pick:

20 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 2:
21 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 3:

(I'll take the slot opposite of whichever one dinovelvet's stunt falls into)

Before I detail the action sequence, let me qualify it by saying that I do have a location in mind for the sequence, but it could work in just about any location.

Anyway, here's the sequence:

Bond and Goodnight are taken captive and are incapacitated by Krausse. Bond is badly beaten, and Goodnight is rendered unconscious through a cocktail of drugs administered to her by Krausse. When they regain consciousness, they find a note pinned to Bond's chest that says "Let the hunt begin" (or something to that effect) and a small bottle of water lying next to them to keep them from dehydrating too quickly. As they try to make it back to some form of civilization, they are stalked by several hunters employed by Krausse to eliminate them in what is a "Most Dangerous Game" scenario.

I'm guessing you're feeling a tropical/jungle location for that scene, but hopefully without elephants and Tarzan yells! It is adaptable to most places, like an arctic locale or desert, swamp etc. Maybe even a city would work too, like say Krause has bought an entire section of run down city blocks and has turned it into an urban hunting ground.

I was actually thinking the Australian Outback as a location for a few reasons. First being that Bond's never been to Australia, second being that (if whoever actually ends up writing the treatment for this particular project ends up keeping the idea that terminus and I were discussing very early in the process for this project) since Goodnight is introduced as being RAN (Royal Australian Navy), that she would have at least some knowledge of the terrain of the Outback, thus potentially giving her and Bond something of an edge out there.

With that said, I love the idea of Krause buying an entire section of run down city blocks and having the sequence there.

And, yes, I'm definitely thinking about the sequence being without elephants and Tarzan yells and all of the other camp elements that made their way into the sequence in OP. ;) I would definitely be thinking of something much more "gritty" and "realistic" (to trot out those tired cliche descriptions), and perhaps even something where, if someone was unfamiliar with the source material for the concept and just thought that the writers had pulled this completely out of thin air, might think to themselves, "Well, this is rather disturbing".

Sorry to sound like a nag - but can people make sure they copy and paste the whole proforma when adding their choices? It makes it easier for future posters and it means we don't loose anything along the way.

I actually think the sequences might work better the other way round to how we had them - with the wrecking ground first and the big game hunt second, though they could possibly be part of the same sequence. That being said, both sequences are very enticingly interesting - actually, all three of the action sequences are. Now, we just need to get some locations pinpointed so CT and others can start fleshing the sequences out a bit more in their heads.

So, we've now had, participating - myself (x2), Mr Big, QOS007, Captain Tightpants, dinovelvet (x2), coco1997, tdalton (x2), connerystoupee1983, ianfleming23 and Mr Blofeld (x2). That's fourteen fields filled in - we're on our second turns and any newcomers can just throw their choices into the mix too.

CAST

1 Bond - Daniel Craig
2 Bond Girl 1 (Main ie Vesper/Camille): Yvonne Strahovski as Mary Goodnight
3 Bond Girl 2 (Minor ie Solange/Fields): Emmanuelle Chriqui as Caesura Scarlett
4 Bond Girl 3 (Background Girl): Ludivine Sagnier as Dana Krause (Wilhelm's wife/ Villainess)
5 Henchman:
6 Henchman 2: Omahyra Mota as Clarisse
7 Villain: Michael Nyqvist as Wilhelm Krause, German construction magnate with an interest in chessboxing
8 M - Timothy Dalton
9 Miss Moneypenny - Emily Blunt
10 Ally 1: Andy Lau as Jiang Yimou, Bonds opposite number in Chinese Intelligence with a skill set comparable to Double-Oh Seven. He's a loyal supporter of Beijing and he forms a firm friendship with his 'decadent capitalist' opposite, if you're looking for a comparison to an established character for Jiang Yimou, consider him a Chinese version of Felix Leiter.

KEY PLOT POINTS

17 Villain's Plot: After discovering that a shift in tectonic plates could cause a land bridge to form between China and Taiwan, the villain, in league with rogue Chinese factions, plans to raise this land bridge and allow an invasion of Taiwan by communist forces.

See HERE for elaboration on the plot as stated above.

18 Pre-Title Sequence Action Sequence/Stunt: The gunbarrel opens on a long shot of the island of Taiwan, then cuts to a luxurious suite in the Grand Hotel in Taipei -- a marble bathtub overflows with bubbles that run across the floor and soak into an already sodden carpet. M is on the phone to Bond who stands in the nearby bedroom, wearing just a terrycloth bathrobe. As Bond slips the Walther into the pocket of the bathrobe, he listens to a rather well-chuffed M, who is very pleased at the uncovering of the plot to bankrupt the country. British Intelligence have brought Faust into imprisonment, and the PM sends his highest thanks to the secret agent and the corporate spy -- and wants to convey these thanks in person. Bond tells M that his datebook is full for the next couple of days, but can he possibly fit the Prime Minister in Wednesday next? M frowns as Bond hangs up -- and slips into the luxurious bubbles, now tastefully naked as he joins Yvonne.

YVONNE: "Who was that?"
BOND: "M; he wants me to bring you in."
YVONNE: "...and in the meantime?"
BOND: "Oh, just that I ought to take down your particulars..."

Bond leans in for a kiss as the pair descend beneath the horizon of bubbles --

BOND: (faintly) "...and what fine particulars they are."

A delicate feminine laugh trickles up from Yvonne, ending in a traditional "Oh, James"... but, suddenly, a hard pair of hands reaches down and forces Bond's head under the water! Yvonne's head pops up from under the bubbles, and she screams in horror, grabbing Bond's terrycloth bathrobe to wrap around herself as she backs out of the water. 007 struggles within the tub, but finally holds his breath and bites the wrist of one of the hands -- the owner of said hands screams faintly from above the water, and he lets go.

Bond erupts from the bath, ready to face his attacker -- Murik. He has survived Faust's attempts to kill him, and now wants revenge on 007 -- but is momentarily distracted by Bond's nakedness. Bond uses this to his advantage; as Murik stands in shock, muttering, "Really?", 007 lunges at Murik's side, hitting him near the vagus nerve... but not close enough to keep him down. Murik grabs Bond between his neck and shoulder, and forces him back into the luxury suite mirror; the pair knock over various toiletry supplies and beauty products from the sinktop as Murik pushes Bond against the wall. Finally, Murik has Bond's head against a cupboard, but 007 desperately boxes at Murik's ears, until he scores a direct hit on the third jab and disorients Murik, and he involuntarily lets go of Bond.

We hear the ringing in Murik's ears as he stumbles back towards the tub, groaning in pain and holding his head. Bond wings an elbow at Murik's jaw, but Murik is not finished yet; he aims a well-placed jab directly at Bond's hip socket. Another kick at the thigh, and Bond is on the floor, immobilized. Finally, it seems as though Murik has 007 at his mercy, but then a shot rings out. Murik clutches his chest in shock, looking to the shooter -- an equally shocked Yvonne, clad in Bond's terrycloth bathrobe and holding his gun. She fires another shot into Murik, who releases his last breath, wobbles, and collapses headfirst into the bubble bath with a loud splash.

Yvonne sighs in relief, sliding the gun across the floor to Bond, who picks it up. He somewhat painfully rises to his feet, and limps over to the lip of the tub. Yvonne explains:

YVONNE: "I found it in the pocket of your robe."
BOND: "Well... a very good thing it was loaded, wasn't it?"

Yvonne chuckles, and Bond ejects the spent casing from the gun; it slows to a crawl as it falls to the floor, the surroundings go black, and we start titles...

19 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 1: Bond is to protect M and other government delegates at a meeting at an energy plant, but henchmen plan to blow the plant up whilst escaping on a train. Bond climbs onboard the train to stop them, but fails - the delegates survive but the plan and the surrounding area are blown up and the villains, with ties to Krause and/or Quantum, escape. Bond survives the sequence by the skin of his teeth.

See HERE for the original fleshed out proposal for the PTS.
20 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 2: Bond and Goodnight are taken captive and are incapacitated by Krausse. Bond is badly beaten, and Goodnight is rendered unconscious through a cocktail of drugs administered to her by Krausse. As they try to make it back to some form of civilization, they are stalked by several hunters employed by Krausse to eliminate them in what is a "Most Dangerous Game" scenario.

21 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 3: (this could be swapped in position with Action Sequence/Stunt #2 if it is needed) Bond gets a tip/clue to investigate one of Krause's construction sites. He sneaks onto it at night (possibly with one of the girls in tow if necessary), but soon discovers it's a trap. An electrified fence keeps him boxed in as two henchmen operating huge wrecking ball cranes attempt to crush him. Bond dodges and evades them by using half-finished structures as cover, and the henchmen step it up by just smashing into everything to try and bury Bond under tons of rubble.

NOTE: Bond should know Krause is the villain by this point and have pissed him off enough that Krause wants him dead.

At 'terminus' glad everything's been set straight. And it takes more than me stubbing my toe to turn me away, haha. Everyone here seems quite witty and polite, I enjoy it. So, all is good in my book. :D

In response to Mr. Blofeld, I never actually said that I wanted to switch the scenes around, YOU said that. BUT, since it has been done and can be worked with, and I'm a mellow sort of guy, it's fine by me. I don't want words put in my mouth, just cause we're friends, haha. :P

For my round two I'm just trotting out my thought for Director. I would love to do the "Finale", but I'm a little, erm, confused still, slightly at this point. Maybe if no one else does it by the next round... I hope picking Director is alright, since Screenwriter is already filled in...

I could see Cheadle bringing that kind of intensity and disarming quality to a Henchman. If you've seen Freeman in Street Smarts, or more so Johnny Handsome, you'd get what I picture.

I dont think I've ever seen Cheadle play a villain before. It'd be fun to see. Like Morgan Freeman back before all he could play was nice people. I could see Cheadle bringing that kind of intensity and disarming quality to a Henchman. If you've seen Freeman in Street Smart, or more so Johnny Handsome, you'd get what I picture.

Cheadle did play a villain, before, in Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight; Freeman has also played a villain in the recent past, in the rather quirky Josh Hartnett/Bruce Willis film Lucky Number Slevin.

There's still entirely too much detail in some of these descriptions. There's absolutely no way I can write any of this stuff because you're not giving me anything to work with. Seriously, "a delicate feminine laugh trickles from Yvonne"? No. Way. I'm not writing that. That's a level of detail that is far too much. What the hell do you expect people like me and dionvelvet to come up with, here!?

20 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 2:

You're quite welcome to step aside if you think you're going to have issues writing this. I'm actually finding it quite refreshing how enthusiastic people are this time round - and the line you specify about Yvonne's 'delicate feminine laughter' actually comes from the closing scene of 'The Property of a Lady' which I would have thought you would have noted.

Seriously, you've bitched about people not providing enough information and then you bitched about people providing too much information! You've bitched about the plot being unrealistic, then when it was revised to become a bit more grounded, you moaned that the villains were involved in a communist plot. It's tough to know the middle ground with regards to know how much information you want people to provide. I think it needs to be reiterated that this is a group project and you, if you do want to continue working on the treatment, have to work with whatever your presented with - whether you like it or not.

I've only ignored fields when it appears the person filling them in was taking the piss and have worked with things that I might not have necessarily selected myself and found some of the stunt sequences and other puzzle pieces incredibly difficult to work into the plot and whilst I may have said I find them difficult to work in, I've never said I'm not going to work with them.

Yeah, personally I don't have a problem with anything we've got so far and I'm getting inspiration from a lot of the choices that have been made.

I will work with what I'm prsented with, but I will only work with the basic idea - namely, that Bond and Yvonne are attacked by Murik in the spa. Because if we just keep writing to the level of that has detail presented, there's no point in writing a reatment because it will effectively have already been done.

Thing is - this is a collaborative project, so whilst Mr Blofeld may have presented a slightly more detailed PTS scene than we were expecting, he's part of the collaborative project and he's played by the rules as they've been presented. You are welcome to suggest changes to the proceedings, as are all the other participants, but Mr Blofeld is entirely within his rights to push for how he envisaged the scene.

In that case, all I'd be doing is copying and pasting other peoples' work and passing it off as my own. That's not going to happen. I was under the impression that the idea behind writing the treatment was to actually write something. As it stands, there is no room to write anything, so I won't be.

Okay, thinking about it, here's a possible solution: we cap the level of detail involved to no more than one paragraph - four or five lines - of desciption for an entry. That will give the person submitting it enough detail to give everyone an idea of where they want the story to go, whilst still giving the person writing it up plenty of space to make the interpretation open to new material. Then, when it comes time to write the treatment, everyone who wants to can. That's where the detail should come in. Because right now it's a bit of a slap in the face to say "Do you want to write it? By the way, everyone is free to write pages describing their sequence if they want and you just have to go with it." You might as well have said "Hi, welcome to our country where you're free to do as you like - but first, you have to forget your homeland and your culture".

That way, the treatment will be both a) respresentative of everyone's ideas, whilst B) allowing writers to flourish.

To me that stifles the creative flow of the other participants, to be honest. As long as people play within the rules of the game, which people have (as I'd step in if there were apparant rule breaks) and the current status quo is creating quite a constructive debate and getting peoples creative juices flowing then I'm not loathe to change the rules. I'm sorry.

Again, this is a collaborative project. Yes, I made overtures to you to come in as a writer and fill the gap that I'd be leaving by stepping back, but that did not make you the solo writer. Far from it. Sorry if you interpreted the overture in that way.

If people had been this elaborate when it came to the action sequences in UB23 and UB24 and people seemed to be this enthused, then I would have been over the moon. Anyway - this lively debate could put people off participation, so I'm calling a close to it.

Noticed that there were items missing - again - from the proforma, so have put them back in. This post, as of posting, is up to date.

So, we've now had, participating - myself (x2), Mr Big (x2), QOS007, Captain Tightpants (x2), dinovelvet (x2), coco1997, tdalton (x2), connerystoupee1983 (x2), ianfleming23 (x2) and Mr Blofeld (x2). That's eighteen fields filled in - we're on our second turns and any newcomers can just throw their choices into the mix too. Two more and we'll be on our third turn round! We've got a cast, now we just need to pound out locations, stunts, gadgets and the production details.

As I said before, this round is moving a lot faster than previous rounds because people are more enthused about the plot and the way the project is developing.

20 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 2:ond and Goodnight are taken captive and are incapacitated by Krausse. As they try to make it back to some form of civilization, they are stalked by several hunters employed by Krausse to eliminate them in what is a "Most Dangerous Game" scenario.

As for these issues in question I honestly don't have a problem with detail, I don't really care for the going back to the end of the last movie; let's move on, something completely fresh. as for my second contribution.

20 Major Action Sequence/Stunt 2:

Again, this is a collaborative project. Yes, I made overtures to you to come in as a writer and fill the gap that I'd be leaving by stepping back, but that did not make you the solo writer. Far from it. Sorry if you interpreted the overture in that way.

I'm well aware that it's a collaborative effort and that I would be adapting other peoples' ideas. I knew I wouldn't be the solo writer, but at the same time, I expected I'd be doing more than simply copying and pasting parts into the treatment. How, exactly, can you expect anyone to expand on Mr. Blofeld's ideas when he's got it down to exact character actions? If it were me and I saw a description of "Murik attacks Bond and Yvonne in the spa", then I could do something with it. Murik would kill Yvonne almost straight away - the implication being that Faust was his lover and Bond killed her, so he's killing Bond's lover in retaliation - and Bond would just sit there coolly and ask Murik if he would care to point out the mistake he had just made. When Murik, cocky that he has Bond at barrel's end, boats that his plan worked perfectly, Bond replies that Murik should have killed him first so that Bond could not do "this", where "this" is Bond attackking anf killing Murik. But instead, I've got passages and passages of material that specify absolutely everything about the setting down to precise lines of dialogue. How on earth am I - or any other writer, for that matter - supposed to adapt that into a treatment?

I'm not complaining here. I'm just trying to work out what the best way forward is. Because as it stands right now, it's completely pointless to have a treatment written because that treatment would be completely redundant. What I'm proposing is that we limit the amount of detail placed into each category so that whoever writes that section of the treatment knows what the scene is and the general direction it's heading without having their hands tied.
