Interesting. I didn't know any of that information - it definitely makes the selection of Singapore even more relevant to the story, then.

Yeah, and then there was the 2007 incident. One of Ferrari's technicians, Nigel Stepney, was upset that he hadn't been promoted after Michael Schumacher, Ross Brawn and Jean Todt (basically Ferrari's Holy Trinity of super driver, tactical genuis and team leader) left the team. Ferrari found a strange white powder around their fuel intakes in Monaco, and while they never found out exactly what it was, they suspected their fuel had been contaminated. They later found out Stepney was responsible after Mike Coughlan, a disgruntled McLaren employee, was caught with 500 pages of detailed technical specifications from Ferrari, which he obviously wasn't supposed to have. McLaren were later found guilty of industrial espionage when it was proven that they had used Ferrari's design plans in the construction of their car (it was later speculated that McLaren were never intended to see those designs and that Coughlan and Stepney were actuall intended to go to the struggling Honda team) and got slapped with a $120 million fine - the largest in the sporting world - and exclusion from the 2007 World Championship.

I'm saying all this to give ammo to the story treatment. Faust could be using her rivals' designs in the place of CFD because she knows it doesn't work. She could be manipulating race results by having her drivers deliberately retire. Or, my personal favourite, she could be using her contacts in the industry to sabotage her rivals' cars by placing a small electromagnet directly over the gearbox and scambling the deleicate electronics that dictate it. There was a conspiracy theory about the 2007 World Championship related to this - McLaren were excluded from the Constructors' Championship, but in exchange for their testimonies, the drivers were not and Lewis Hamilton was in with a shot at the title going into the final round. Fans (who, it must be said, hated the sport's governing body - the FIA - simply for existing and will take any chance they can to attack them) claimed that because of the controversy, the FIA fixed the race outcome by sabotaging Hamilton's car with electromagnets when his gearbox died on him and had to be rebooted. However, this theory required someone to somehow target the gearbox, located at the rear of the car and no larger than a dinner plate with a powerful electromagnet from a distance without being noticed while the car was travelling at 300km/h.

Sorry, but I'm really not liking the title "FORBIDDEN FAUST". I makes no sense, because "faust" isn't the German word for "fruit". It means "fist", so the title is essentially FORBIDDEN FIST, which sounds like some equal parts cheesy and dopey Hong Kong action film made as a comedy by a Hollywood studio. Like something starring Jackie Chan and Adam Sandler.

Yes, but I don't find it particularly clever. It's awkward and ungainly and it doesn't have anything to do with the subject. And when did we decide on a title, anyway? I've changed my mind; it doesn't sound like a Sandler-Chan film, but more the kind of film where Adam Sandler is a university lecturer and falls for a student named Faust who is underage, only to learn that she suffers from a rare condition that slows down her aging, except that he's the only one who knows it and he has to keep his relationship with her a secret from his best friend Rob Schneider and Steve Carrell, his boss.

Now, now, gentlemen. We'll just have to agree to disagree on the title won't we. For what it's worth, we've not decided on the title yet - we'll decide on it once the outline has finished.

She plans to demonstrate CFD through her Grand Prix racing team, Faust Grand Prix Engineering and the JFX-01 racing car, arguing that the competitive world of motorsport will showcase the CFD process and allow her to iron out the flaws in the system faster than in any other medium. MI6 suspects a foreign power is attempting to hijack CFD for themselves. Bond, however, discovers that the plan to build the fighter jet is a sham - in order to prove the system's worth, Faust has been sabotaging the delicate electronics of her rivals' cars with powerful electromagnets. A female henchman? Nice idea. I think since the main villain is a woman, and also that she shouldn't express any sexual interest in Bond, we should make Faust a lesbian and possibly hint that they're lovers.

Per terminus' approval, I've submitted choices for title song performer and title song writer.

LaRoux would certainly be a cool title singer choice - there was a video from a few years ago she did with a title like Quicksand or something that I thought looked very much like a Maurice Binder title sequenced.

Unfortunately as I said, I've taken out the female henchman as we had that field already filled in - as with the earlier suggestion to add a writer field, I would be happy to add a second henchman field to the proforma for the next round.

Indeed. Very good choice. I'm guessing the producers felt Rebecca Hall (the casting for Moneypenny in UB23) musn't have felt she was up to the job and rotated her out.

Might be a good joke in there somewhere with Bond saying she looks different and asking her if she's changed her hair-style or something like that.

Because I think you should use a title from the book series, which kind of represents the storyline.

This may be a bit predictable, but I think it should be "The Property Of A Lady".
So that the "The Property" could be the fighter jet.

Please tell me what you think ?

KEY PLOT POINTS

17 Villain's Plot:

The villain is Juliane Faust, a defence contractor and owner of Faust Defence Engineering, who is submitting a tender for the development the next generation of fighter jet. Her proposal involves the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), a computer simulation that can produce prototypes so quickly and efficiently that it will reduce the nation's defence spending by as much as eighty percent. Faust plans to run the fighter jet project into the ground, blowing out the budget and ruining the economy of the United Kingdom.

18 Pre-Title Sequence Stunt: We open the gunbarrel on a view of a man rippling from under the water. In Jamaica, wealthy racing tycoon Dexter Smythe goes tramping into the surf with a spear, searching for rare marine life. His eye is distracted by what looks to be a cruise ship out in the distance, flashing in the late afternoon sun. We suddenly see him from the viewpoint of a rifle scope; cutting back to him, we hear a pffft, and Smythe looks down in confusion -- a small dart has struck him on the chest. He frantically tries to pull it out, but his movements become labored and sluggish; stumbling a ways into the ocean, he finally stumbles over a hermit crab shell and falls face-first into the water, his own spear snagging his chest as he falls. We see a small rivulet of blood leak out from his prone form and slowly twist up to the surface; the camera dollies up and out to the "cruise ship", and we see it is actually an enormous private yacht. On one of the higher rails along the deck, a heavily-built man, one Carmen Murik, carefully surveys his handiwork from the scope of his specialized rifle, then heads down a series of steps to where his employer, Juliane Faust, is sitting in a deck chair, sunbathing. He plants the butt of his rifle to the ground and reports that "Smythe has been neutralized, m'lady"; Faust smiles coldly and remarks that "that should keep his racing group out of the lineup, for a while". She presses a button on a console next to her; deep in the bowels of the ship, a hatchway opens, and an enormous octopus slowly shambles out. Faust purrs, "Mummy always feeds her 'pussy the best Caribbean flounder", and the octopus inches closer to the blood spiraling out of Smythe's prone form. As Smythe's blank eyes gaze blindly at the bottom of the seafloor, the octopus slowly moves over the corpse, eclipsing all light above the waves as we now cut to titles...
19 Major Stunt 1: Faust drugs Bond and then forces him into one of her Grand Prix races. Bond must deal with the effects of the drugs as well as the fact that Faust has also entered one of her henchmen into the race, who is also an expert race car driver, with instructions to try to force Bond to crash at a high speed in order to do away with him.
20 Major Stunt 2: Shootout and chase through Seattle Underground
21 Major Stunt 3:
22 Finale Stunt:

Nice contribution, Mr. B, but as you can tell from the location selections, Righty007 chose Acapulco for the PTS, not Jamaica.

Mr Blofeld, as much as I appreciate the enthusiasm, that's not really as stunt is it? It's the PTS itself. And it even ignores the fact that the PTS is set in Acapulco! If we switch Jamaica to Acapulco, then I suppose it could work - though it would expose Faust as a villain rather earlier than I'd presumed she would be.

Ahhh... sorry; Acapulco, it is. I also though this would give the film a TMWTGG flavour, were TMWTGG a much better movie. B)

Also, this means we need a mention of Smythe's "disappearance" in the news a scene or two after the title sequence; any else agree?

Faust purrs, "Mummy always feeds her 'pussy the best Caribbean flounder",

How can I put this delicately? That's just awful.

I had an idea of the PTS being adapted from the Quantum of Solace game. You know, the scene where Bond (DC) fought a man on top of a train. I thought that would be good - But I guess it's a bit late.

And I don't think it would fit in Acapulco, either.

Well, Bond had never liked Acapulco (reference for the hardcore literary fans).

That is a good point.

Will you be participating in the third round, dino?
