Apologies if I'm just spreading a false rumor, but Carte Blanche news has been scant and I'm getting antsy. There might be less here than meets the eye. Or...

RUMOR: Carte Blanche super special edition in the works?

Interesting. Need a bit more detail from the poster. A JB film star might be a stretch, what's the connection is my first thought?

Then on the other hand, if it's an independent bookshop with good connections then it could be quite plausible. Have you emailed Hodder maybe?

Yeah, like a few of you I'm no fan of hardcovers. Large cumbersome things that never fit in a coat pocket. You have to plan around bringing your book with you, unlike the paperback you can put in your pocket. Yes I will have to get the CB hardcover because I'm a compelteist, but if they were released at the same time, the one I would be actually reading would be the paperback.

Jeffrey Deaver has just announced on his Facebook page that CARTE BLANCHE will be released in Australia and New Zealand on May 26, the same day as the UK release.

Watch the new CARTE BLANCHE trailer!

Interestingly, the cover art at the end is different. It now has red type. Has it changed, or is this just for the trailer?

Did I get this right? They announce another trailer at the end? Probably with more detail about the book, maybe even an excerpt read by Deaver?

That's what I'm still trying to figure out. Looks that way to me.

As if the wait until June wasn't bad enough. :P

Hopefully the upcoming trailer will contain more info. Many thanks Zen!

Good to see news finally starting to trickle about Carte Blanche. :D

As for this trailer... I Think IFP may be relying too much on the public's recollection of Brozza-Bond; they should be leaning more on Craig.

Residing currently in the US, I have to wait until June 14th to receive a copy.

I never really understood how 'cut off' from the rest of the world North America seemed. Now, with Carte Blanche and Queen remasters being released everywhere ahead of the US, it's times like these when I miss home :(

Nice! I hope the changes to the shell of the book are real and not just a product of the trailer. I love the red ink they gave to the sides of pages. It looks really neat.

I don't think I like the red type as much as the other cover. I kinda hope this is just for the trailer.

The fact aside that a teaser trailer for a novel is an utterly dumb idea, that may be one of the worst previews for anything, ever. Still well and truly excited for the book itself, though! ;)

Watch the new CARTE BLANCHE trailer!

What is the point in this sort of stuff? Who is it even supposed to appeal to? I'm sure the book'll be fun, but I don't see why what little effort was put into this trailer was put into it.

Agreed, book teasers dont really work at all. What have we been teased with? Nothing new, just a load of text whizzing by and the book cover.

Actually, when Terry Goodkind was gonna release "The Law Of 9s" the trailers where actually pretty good. One of them was just a scene from the book acted out with real actors. A nice action beat with the two main characters escaping a house as the bad guys attack.

Agreed. If it's not the case, I won't lose sleep. But having three colours (red, white and grey) makes it look better IMO. The simple aesthetic is still retained. The smoke is more distinctive against the font, and vice versa.

I always think trailers for books are a bit odd but it's all part of the marketing machine & it worked. I'm ready to get my hands on the book.

The red looks very striking on the cover. I'm guessing that is the final cover design.

The teaser is fine for what it is: a place holder and/or announcement of the book to whet appetites until such time as the more substantial trailer comes along. In general I think commercials for books is an excellent idea. It would be great if more authors and publishers picked up on this idea.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of this new cover art thing. I like it, but I also had no problem with the old art. Could this be for the paperback maybe? I'll see what I can find out.

Meanwhile, here they are side by side.

While I haven't yet been able to get official confirmation from any of the powers-that-be, both Amazon and the Hodder websites have swapped out the grey cover for the new red one. So, yeah, it's starting to look pretty good that this is the new cover.

(Now how about changing that U.S. cover? :P)

I liked the grey, but then again I like the red. There is only one way to sort this out. Cue Harry Hill....

I'd have a guess and say that the grey didnt stand out enough?
