Don't know what that means, but it makes me smile anyway. We call it Cucumber time in The Netherlands.
It means that there isn`t any big news in the summer. Everyone is on holiday.
So there ain`t any top news stories.

Twilight OK. If you mentioned Letters to Juliet I would be really worried. Ooops.Summit, eh? Well it looks like Twilight is useful for something, after all...
I'm disgusted that you even know that Summit produced Twilight![]()
So am I![]()
It's those bloody tv ads for it that are on every five minutes!

"That game plan -- Spyglass and Summit are believed to be the front runners to steer the studio -- should be in place by the early fall, I'm told. If Spyglass wins the day and the studio sheds its distribution/marketing unit, Bond will have several studios chasing it, and the winner will likely make a deal that includes servicing the MGM library, a labor intensive enterprise."
Sounds great. Early fall MGM falls. Bond gets freed. Pre-production can go on. Shooting can start at the beginning of 2011 for a fall release.
I hope.

Lionsgate insiders tell me that management is close to reaching a temporary accord with Carl Icahn that could bring an end to his takeover bid. That takeover would lead to an overhaul of the indie studio and the exit of its current braintrust. A report has surfaced from Dow Jones, indicating that Icahn and Lionsgate brass would explore merger and acquisitions opportunities together, and stop the mudslinging. My insider said there is a truce, but there's no guarantee any ceasefire agreement will lead to something permanent. Icahn's stake in Lionsgate has grown to 37.3% of the company, as the result of his $7 per share tender offer. More details as Deadline learns them.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of us here on the boards when I say that my fingers are crossed. For the love of God I don't want Craig to go the same way as Dalton and have us be deprived of a tremendous actor capable of doing great things with the character.

Quite frankly, I'd rather have Christopher Nolan direct Bond23. And just on the strength alone of PLANET TERROR I'd recommend Robert Rodriguez over Sam Mendes.
Actually I don't think Rodriguez would be a bad choice for Bond. Unlike many of the names mentioned, he has a versatile resume from hard intense violent action films, to fantasy style kid films (although he may lack the "Britishness").

You may not be wrong -- If MGM reach a deal with either SpyGlass or Summit by summer's end, then Eon will be able to move pretty fast.
We must remember, they have a script, they have their lead man, and they have their director. Craig and Mendes, now doing other projects, probably won't be available for Bond 23 until summer 2011. So we'll get our 50th anniversary Bond film in 2012. That's a date I am sure Eon do not want to miss - and won't miss.

Well, in the world of James Bond it doesn't appear that being an "even-numbered" actor is a good thing. Bond actors #2 Lazenby, #4 Dalton, and #6 Craig may all possibly be consigned to the 2-or-less Bond film heap if this thing doesn't get straightened out soon enough.
I also believe this is a foregone conclusion: we won't ever see the days of an actor doing 7 Bond films again. Looks like 3 or 4 films will be the maximum and then the series will "reboot" itself.
It's pretty much a necessity to reboot or go in a different direction when you have to keep up with the times and constant changing movie trends. Although if you look at Connery and Moore's box office, both of them saw diminishing returns after their fourth Bond outings, so maybe 4 is the sell-by date of any Bond actor.
It is kind of amazing that the longest running (official) Bond actor was the one who signed on when he was 45 years old, and the youngest one to sign on had the shortest Bond run!

to be honest, I didn't know where to place Mendez, but anyway...
It's called "Expecting 23"
Very amusing! Makes a change having a warhead emerge from a swimming pool instead of a dormant volcano. Shades of "Tracy Island" from that much loved UK TV series Thunderbirds.

!! MGM, I'm going to sick the Goldeneye satellite on you!! Just
ing die already!!
" Ahem...target coordinates??" "Target is the MGM board of directors!!"
I think Drax's poisonous globes would be more effective. At least then you can get rid of the current board of directors and then replace them with...shall we say...superior specimens.

Great news!!! MGM receives 6th debt extension!!!
Troubled film studio MGM announced Wednesday that it has received its sixth debt extension. The company asked for the reprieve at the beginning of the month. Under the new agreement with its lenders, MGM has until September 15, 2010 to make substantial debt and interest payments.

Of course MGM wants a sure fire hit which apparently is outer limits (shrugs)Six extensions. Bond 23 and The Hobbit on the backburner, yet MGM is somehow managing to develop an Outer Limits movie?
Very strange...
