No sources, just the "news" from The Daily Mirror.
We call it Cucumber time in The Netherlands.

The Dutch Press has gone crazy. They tell us that there will be no more Bond. They say that there will be no more Bondmovies Never again. NEVER. Are they out of there minds?
I bet they don't have a clue about what's going on with MGM! They just say that to grab attention and to sell newspapers.

As I said before, the obituaries may be doing the rounds, but somewhere a plastercast coffin is being zipped open in the depths of Tokyo Harbour.

Zorin's right. I've been very surprised at how much steam this "Crew members fired!!" story had got considering, as with any film, theres no job to be fired from until the film is in production, which Bond 23 wasn't anywhere near when this story broke.Listen folks - the Daily Mirror reported that crew members have been made redundant. There were NO crew members on the payroll as the film had not started official production. The Eon office / BOND 23 development team are Eon funded and do not blab to the press about anything unless in an official context. So if other countries press want to run with it, let them. This is not a case of no smoke without fire as the MGM fire extinguisher has been pouring wet-foam on proceedings for months.

BTW love the YOLT reference there. Am loving the mental image of Craig being unzipped from a body bag in a casual fashion.

As do I. Finally, a bit of semi-encouraging news. I've felt this way all along, in terms of the new tabloid report potentially just being a sensationalist re-wording of old news.

The word CREW may be a 'generic' term here. It is possible that those who have done pre-production work such as location scouting, stunt work pre-pro, et al. have all been told to shut down. Armies of personnel have been told not to prepare for BOND 23 because these same people have other film production commitments being prepared for the next few years. Many people don't realize that many films begin pre-production years before the first frame is shot. Don't get your hopes too high, unless Sony is given another pass, Bond 23 isn't coming out for a long time.

The "crew" you mentioned would be Eon funded. An Eon employee would not bleat to the press in this really childish fashion (not if they wanted to keep their jobs). And as Eon are pay-rolling their own staff in this 'early days' context, I don't see why the MGM situation necessitates claims that things have shut down. Of course Eon are pressing ahead.
Sorry, but what "armies of personnel"? Eon does not have armies. They are assembled when the production is greenlit by the money men - which isn't happening yet, as you say. And - as you say - the larger crew 'battalions' had been forewarned then let down, this is still an example of distant technicians spinning a story... or rather chinese whispers feeding into the hands of the very suspect Daily Mirror.

This is not about any hopes getting high. This is looking at it from experience.

U r dead right.
This press idea that an entire film crew are wandering around Pinewood Studios kicking up the dirt and waiting for the "get go", is utter nonsense.
Bond 23 has been in script development and early draft mode - and no more than that in physical production terms; but the UK tabloid press care very little for facts they just LOVE stirring it up.
Eon, as usual, are being totally professional. Bond 23 is on hold, as they have said, until the MGM situation is cleared enough for them to move forward. And, when that happens, probably by Nov time, Eon will move like greased lightning. Don't doubt it.

"That game plan -- Spyglass and Summit are believed to be the front runners to steer the studio -- should be in place by the early fall, I'm told. If Spyglass wins the day and the studio sheds its distribution/marketing unit, Bond will have several studios chasing it, and the winner will likely make a deal that includes servicing the MGM library, a labor intensive enterprise."
Summit, eh? Well it looks like Twilight is useful for something, after all...

That's better news than we thought. At least it's still in the pipeline and not "canned".
The problem is that the pipeline is clogged and it's longer than Siberia.
B23=B17
Different circumstances, same outcome. New Bond, new M, new composer?
