Im a little dissapointed, i was really looking forward to "Beyond The Ice". But still its great to finnally have a title. Although its not very original, it sounds like it could really fit the plot, with the whole "Damian Falco" thing, and the fact that Bond WONT die.
Eon have done a great job of keeping this under wraps, i just wish the'd announced it much longer ago. Great Fleminiscent feel to it ( BTW, that Ian Fleming show is on tonight ).
I just made what has to be the first fan-rendering of the what the title could look, like if written in the Tomorrow Never Dies font. Here it is, im working on a much better version, which i'll replace this with, when i get the chance.

OK, I like it too! Much better than Cold Eternity which I hated and Beyond The Ice which I was indifferent to and trying to get excited about.

Live to... "Die Another Day", a nice twist on the old "live to fight another day" maxim. I guess they dropped the "Live to" because they didn't want another 5 world title, and DAD actually flows better by itself. Of course the entire phrase will be used in the film, I wonder if by Bond or the villian? It actually fits Bond's philosophy of life quite well.

Icebreaker was my favourite, it's a shame that they really don't want to use past-fleming titles. I was accepting "beyond the ice" and i still think it would have been a good title, original at least.
"Die another day" has something strong in it though, and I'm sure it will grow on me. A little disappointed though, because "die" is a word that has been quite frequently in Bond titles. Well... it's still better then "Never die forever" :-)

I will forever miss Beyond the Ice, I also loved Cold Eternity, but Die Another Day? DAD? My initials spell DAD........ oh EON, EON, EON........ From Dr. No to The World is not Enough, you rocked at titles, and now................. Oh it sounds like a soap opera. Forgive me folks, I had my heart set on BTI, or CE. Well I tip my hat to Die Another Day, it better be good. Always a pleasure. Commander Dan

Okay now I have the objective news duties out of the way. It's time to be subjective.

I like DAD.

It's a good Bond title. And I will personally come and slap anyone who ever mentions that Bond 21 will be called 'Beyond The Ice'. Face it people BTI is, was, and always will be an Eon red herring.

"Die Another Day" I think I need to roll that one round my tongue - I'm not sure - it needs to grow on me. But why didn't they mention Michael Madsen in the list of those appearing in the film. Kinda weird that, any theories? May be they want to keep his character a bit more under wraps?

My first news story for CBN was a big one. Sorry if there are any typos I was freaking out.

[quote]In a press release on jamesbond.com it was anounced today that the title of Bond 20 is Die Another Day. The official Press release reads:

Is that the title? "Die Another Day" is the title? Hmm...I can live with it. :) Sounds decent to me, but there has to be a better title. Oh well. Reminds me of a Benson title.

There seems to be a general opinion that DAD is an "OKAY" title, but nothing to get excited about.

I'm not sure that's true. Seems most of us feel the title is more than just "okay." Personally I think it's a darn good Bond title (and I don't think it would be improved with the addition of "To").

But it would be nice to somehow take a poll. In fact, some kind of monthly or weekly poll might be a very nice new feature for CBN. Dave? Daniel?

I second the motion.

Hmm, not sure what I think of this. I knida had my heat set on something Ice relatd since there isn't too many chances to use the word 'Ice', but plenty of chances to use words like 'Die'. I'll have to get used to this one I think, I guess it could be worse.

I quite like the title, although I was a little dissapointed at first. It is much better than BTI and all that, and I think it will go well next to the other titles.

BTW, will they still use that teaser image they showed at that conference where they had a list of titles. (The one with a gun pointing towards you on a block of ice). I hope so, it sounds good.

I don't think adding "To" to the start will make it better as the script probably has a reason for the title to be missing the "To". It takes the meaning away from a person.

I've heard the aboe comment alot lately that the word die has been used a good deal in the Bond movies. True, BUT, so has gold (GF,TMWTGG,GE) and kill (LTK,AVTAK) so what? even though it's sometimes hard to admit Bond movies are a formula, that's really why we love it. If you break from tradition too much you lose the meaning of the franchise. I thin Die another day is great because here we are in the 40th year and Bond is not dead he will die another day, he's still going strong plus all the conatations to the movie itself. Beyond the Ice was a good title but I believe I mentioned it a few days back that it wasnt a Bond title and that the real title was still floating out there and by God I was right and i'm overjoyed about this flick those ice chase scenes look so damn cool I just know this movie is goingto be great!!! pb1 rules!!

Personally I don't really see the similarities between Die Another Day and Tomorrow Never Dies. I know there's the Tomorrow and the Day. But hey, that's life! Actually I really like the title. I could jump up and down on the spot right now. I'm almost giddy about it ;D

Anyway, other people obviously see the correlation. This comes from E! Online: And before you ask, no, we don't know how one can "die another day" if, assuming another day is tomorrow, "tomorrow never dies."

Knuckle-heads....

I was far more disapointed by them choosing TWINE as the title of the last Bond movie than by this one. But that's really because I think TWINE is the perfect title for the final Bond movie whenever that may be.

I guess I'm not as discriminating as some guys here(not that thats a bad thing). I would have been happy if it was called "Mr. Bond goes to Iceland" To tell you the truth, I'm just glad we finally have the title.

As for the title itself, I love it, I really do. As others have pointed out, its a play on a familiar phrase, plus it really feels different then The World is Not Enough, which is a good thing. I think every title should be totally different then the title proceeding it.

two thoughts:

given the production launch release stating that the story would start in the Korean DMZ and continue via Hong Kong,
Cuba, London and eventually back to where it all began, those who lament the passage of BEYOND THE ICE as a title must surely realize how NARROW it would have been. I'm willing to bet that ICE locations will amount to less than 30 mins of the movie. As Vic Armstrong said the ice chase is merely the climax of the middle of the movie.

DIE ANOTHER DAY, a pleasent surprise, is more Bondian for sure and could work on more than one level.

we have to remember, as far as MULTIPLE WORD titles go we havent had a TOUCHABLE INANNIMATE OBJECT in a title since the early 70s (DIAMONDS are forever & The man with the golden GUN) and this current title continues that tradition.

and bond is nothing without TRADITION

Good God, some people will just never be satisfied! DIE ANOTHER DAY is a GREAT TITLE!!! It has the play on words, it sounds Fleming. It is marketable James Page, uh is that a bad thing?Don't we want the movie to make money?? It sounds mysterious as well, who will die another day? Bond? the baddie? Also I was thinking about a possible scene in the movie where this line would fit perfectly and it reall sold me on it whether they use it in that scene or not! The scene or possible quote is this: Bond is being tortured by Scorpion girl say. She says something along these lines "You'll wish you were dead after I'm through with you but regrettably you will die another day!" pb1 007 is the best!!

I just remembered a song by Dream Theater called Another Day and while it is a little too heavy (but very melodic) for a Bond the lyrics are very appropriate I feel and could be sung to suit a Bond movie

It's similar to Nobody Does It Better in that the title is only mentioned once.....

"Another Day" (04:22)
     - John Petrucci

    Live another day
    Climb a little higher
    Find another reason to stay
    Ashes in your hands
    Mercy in your eyes
If you're searching for a silent sky....

      You won't find it here
      Look another way
      You won't find it here
      So die another day

    The coldness of his words
    The message in his silence,
"Face the candle to the wind..."
    This distance in my voice
    Isn't leaving you a choice
So if you're looking for a time to run away...

      You won't find it here
      Look another way
      You won't find it here
      So try another day

They took pictures of our dreams
Ran to hide behind the stairs
And said maybe when it's right for you, they'll fall
But if they don't come down
Resist the need to pull them in
    And throw them away
    Better to save the mystery
    Than surrender to the secret

      You won't find it here
      Look another way
      You won't find it here
      So try another day

Its a good title, that suits Bond to me, but to everyone, the film itself is the important thing, as long as the film is good, it will enhance the title even more to those who like it, or are growing to it.

I like the title very much, I knew EON would surprise us, no one saw this title coming, thats what I enjoyed what I first saw it, no one expected it. Excellent

I got to go, because I'll DIE ANOTHER DAY, and want to enjoy today:)

DIE ANOTHER DAY
DIE ANOTHER DAY
DIE ANOTHER DAY
DIE ANOTHER DAY

It's certainly growing on me really fast. :)

I was starting to be resigned to BTI, but this is much better.

I've come straight here so apologies if I'm repeating others above me.

My immediate reaction? Thank God they didn't go with something with "ice", "cold", or "frozen" in it. Just because the movie will have those things in it I felf it was just a small part of Bond 20 and unworthy of a title.

My second reaction? At last there is a title!

But I really love this title, even though it sound like a sequel to Tomorrow Never Dies.

I checked on allmusic.com and cdnow.com and can't find another song with that title, and AudioGalaxy doesn't have one either.

Love it, love it, love it!

Now I have to change my sig. :)
