BOND IS BACK

A SECRET TO THE GRAVE

Can you keep a secret?

Posted Image

BOMBSHELL has had over 3000 downloads.

So a good number of members know that MI6 Agent Goodnight is in trouble; and needs extracting from a terrorist cell.

Back Jacket Synopsis

A Korean oil tanker hijacked by Somali pirates forces the closure of the Gulf of Aden. A World starved of oil will continue to slide toward the brink of financial collapse;until the ransom is paid.

Against a backdrop of increased terrorist activity; and with only seven years of financially viable oil reserves remaining; the beguiled country of Yemen is fast becoming a troubled land.

James Bond and Government official Elizabeth Loverseed arrive in the claustrophobic environment of insecurity and fear; where foreign governments fight for investors and influence.

Bond’s mission is to investigate rumours that arms dealer, Khaled Wazir has amassed an imposing cache of weapons; and is building a great rebel army.

But the mission is compromised when an elderly man presents himself at the British Embassy in Sana’a, claiming to know a secret he will share only with the Ambassador.

The man, it would seem, holds the key to a sinister and ambitious plot destined to open the very gates of hell.

Will the secret be shared? Or will it be a secret to the grave.

Interesting premise. As always your plots sound realistic, very comtemporary and world threatening. I'm sure the wait will be worth while.
As a side point I was somewhat taken aback by the brief synopsis, as my current project Those Who the Gods Love Die Young also features an arms dealer and a potential rebel coup in a foreign land. From reading one of your earlier posts, I think we may both have developed a power boat chase too. In addition to striking gold with the idea of a new M, I'm a bit worried we are stealing each other's thunder.
Having said that, your thunder is generally louder than mine!!!
Whatever similarities we do have in plotting, I'm certain our results will be markedly different!
Good luck with your writing, Paul.

Interestingly, FQAC was also initially written with the idea of a new M being introduced. I think the idea is pretty widespread on the assumption that Dench is getting quite old and won't be able to make many more movies.

My casting thought on a new M was Jeremy Northam, a younger M about the same age as Bond, more of a paper pusher than a career operative and someone who was a bit more bureacratic and willing to curry political favours.

I'd half agree to that. I simply dislike the angle 007's relationship with his female boss is taking. It's way too mother-son for me and all that chasing around the world after Brosnan or Craig is starting to get repetitive and very boring; that's what the Station Head's are for isn't it?
I don't do casting as such, but the image in my mind is similar to actor Chistopher Jones as he appeared in Ryan's Daughter (1970). The reasons why would become apparent.

Thanks Chris,
As always things will not be what they appear to be in A Secret to the Grave.

The power boat is not involved in a chase; so you can forge ahead with your action.

Health problems initially delayed my writing; but (fingers crossed) I will have the whole of June to complete the first draft.

Good luck to you too in your next endevour

I think everyone is ready for a new M. I used Ciaran Hinds for the physical appearance, mixing his political background with that of former real M Sir John Scarlett

Yeah I get it (Don't worry your cameo is a good girl)

Just as way of transition between BOMBSHELL and
A SECRET TO THE GRAVE

Please see the extract below

Tanner changed the subject “Got a little job for you; one of our agents needs extracting from an undercover job”

The laptop pinged at his side. Bond reached out and opened the communication.
A photograph appeared on his screen.
Bond looked at the face.
She looked young to be doing undercover work; but Bond took in her features, instantly memorising her face.
The picture highlighted her eyes ‘windows to the soul’ he mused; well this one certainly looked very spirited. Bond pronounced her very attractive, and worthy of an assisted extraction.

“What’s her name?”

Tanner laughed; he knew how Bond’s mind worked
“That’s a secret. You can keep a secret, can’t you, 007?”

“To the grave Bill, to the grave”

Tanner became serious again
“Let’s just say this is called Operation Goodnight”

James Bond was back in business.
