If Mendes can't manage a marriage, why would anyone think that he could manage a production as large as a Bond film?

Time for Barbara to call up Kathryn Bigelow....or direct the film herself.

yes, since she has been so much more successful at managing a marriage.

Bond 23 is going to be dark. Real dark.

I agree. Lucas once said that the 2nd Indiana Jones feature was dark because he was in the middle of a divorce at the time...

Not necessarily. Remember Sam Mendes is not George Lucas. People handle situations differently. It is possible that because Mendes is going through a dark personal time, he might want to make his next project a little more fun as not to add too much darkness into his life. Of course the opposite could be true. We just don't know.

Hopefully, he'll turn that darkness into an intense, cold Bond adventure.

No thank you, we've had enough of that with QoS.

How about a fun, pulpy, escapist, un-PC, Bond film - cutting through the Gordian knot of dull modern day Realpolitik?

The divorce makes it more likely that Mendes will sign on for B23 - Winslet's settlement and liposuction won't come cheap

You say that as though making a Bond film is harder than making a marriage work.

I think we will hear something soon confirming Mendes, if anything to take the publicity off the impending divorce.

Not only do I agree with this sentiment but I am pretty confident that Bond 23 will actually be a much more light hearted movie than QoS. I'm not interested in an argument so I won't justify my opinion but I'll be happy for anyone to quote this post back to me when Bond 23 comes out. I know I'm right!

Anyway, what's really important is that, as I have mentioned previously, I really fancy Kate. She's a lovely english rose is what she is! I'd love a piece of that! B)

Well, it looks like Sam Mendes is getting divorced - so much for Kate Winslet as the next Bond girl:

I'd prefer a lighter Bond film myself. As someone said, if they had kept making films in FRWL style only, Bond wouldn't be around today. Variety is required.

Indeed B) We've already seen Craig aquit himself in a Bond film that requires "acting." Let's see what he can do now in an old fashioned adventure

So the MGM situation is going to be signed and sealed in a week or two as well then? I doubt it I'm afraid.

A gay director doing Bond? Never. Not sure we need PRISCILLA, AGENT OF THE DESERT.

Leave the gays out of Bond, thank you.

But how to be sure of that???

Hmmmmmmmm,....

Perhaps we should check every person connected to the production against the internet. I mean, that would surely be a foolproof (pun intended, go figure) method, wouldn't it?

Peter Hunt was as gay as they come, though some might say that was his undoing.

Whatever he saw in George Lazenby it wasn't his acting ability.

Not to mention Tamahori and his penchant for dressing up in drag and sucking off police officers.

Also, Marc Forster seemed a little light in the Loafers.

That's probably the most homophobic thing I've ever read on here...

A gay man might make a masterpiece of a Bond film. OH WAIT! HE DID! It's called On Her Majesty's Secret Service...

Yeah, hate to tell you this but Peter Hunt was one of the men who defined 007. I guess you'll be looking for another Secret Agent to be a fan of.

Truth be told, I didn't know Peter was gay.

But now I am wondering if that is his real name or just a mission statement.

Well, this is all very sophisticated and lovely.

I wonder if our lives will be trodden over once we're gone? We little people non-achievers. Will there be message boards debating our varied sexualities and abilities to do our jobs because of them?

He couldn't satisfy one woman. How is he expected to satisfy millions of people?

I know you're joking, but if Mendes directs RISICO he won't need to satisfy millions of people emotionally, financially, romantically, sexually, etc. He'll only have to satisfy their craving for some dumb entertainment. Sheesh.

I've never forgiven Marcia Griffin-Lucas for what she did to the second Indiana Jones film.

I can't thank her enough. INDY 2 is by far the best of the series.

That's probably the most homophobic thing I've ever read on here...

It's also one of the most deliberately playful things I have ever said on here.

And I am well aware of the contribution the gay creatives who have worked on Bond have brought the series, including the ones people know about.

I was sort of hoping the foul sentiment of the statement was enough to indicate it was a load of bull. And those that know me are well aware why I was kidding...

Gentlemen, it is fairly obvious that Mr Zorin is perfectly familiar with the fact that sexuality is no indicator of a person's merits within his/her chosen profession. I seriously do hope my remark about the uselessness of the internet as an indicator of leanings, preferences or any kind of actual facts of such a private nature was likewise obvious to everybody here.
