Which flicks, in your book, were the naughties of the noughties? The dogs of the decade? The, erm, twaddle of the twenty-first century so far? Was there anything you walked out of - or ran away screaming from? Was there any feeble excuse for a motion picture released over the past ten years that caused you, during a discussion in the pub, to opine that Michael Winner was actually a cruelly underrated director? Feel free to also mention any cringeworthy performances, diabolical scripts, mammoth plot holes, excruciating theme songs and, well, anything else you fancy slagging off.

(I'm expecting the words "die", "another" and "day" to feature strongly in this thread.)

Anyhoo, here's my pick of the most pitiful films that crossed my path in the 2000s. I list them in alphabetical order, for, as Samuel Johnson said, there is no settling the point of precedency between a louse and a flea. I did at least try to sit through all of the following, but more than a few were just plain unwatchable.

The hall of shame

BAD BOYS II

BASIC INSTINCT 2

HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION

THE HILLS HAVE EYES

THE INCREDIBLE HULK

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

ROCKNROLLA

TERMINATOR SALVATION

TRANSFORMERS

xXx: STATE OF THE UNION

The preposterously overrated

CHANGELING

CRASH

THE DEPARTED

FROST/NIXON

ICHI THE KILLER

MILLION DOLLAR BABY

NOTES ON A SCANDAL

THE QUEEN

Films often held to be bad that I actually like

DIE ANOTHER DAY

PEARL HARBOR

ROLLERBALL

Maybe not the worst, but the least entertaining and most unctuous to me were:
50 First Dates
Cradle 2 the Grave
Godsend
The Hot Chick
Ice Age 3 (I'm generally pretty soft on kids movies, but your kids deserve more than this lazy dreck. Even if they're really naughty. See also the Night at the Museun duology)
Lady in the Water
The Love Guru
Outlaw
Red Dragon/Hannibal Rising (come on guys, try please)
Rush Hour 3 (ditto, work Ratner you crazy party animal!)
The Spirit (a genuine Hollywood fiasco of the kind Hollywood would like to think it was too smart to make, at least that makes it a little interesting I guess)
The Sweetest Thing (look up "the penis song" on youtube if you don't believe me)
The Texas Chainsaw remake

Absurdly overrated:
Garden State (and most of its kindred spirit, wishy washy, indie schmindie siblings)
Requiem For a Dream
The Ring
Spider-Man 2
Star Trek
Transformers (by the public at least, and some critics)
Wedding Crashers
Whichever Harry Potter film it was I saw some of the other day (the prisoner of whatsit one I think. It was balls anyway)

Very much not my cup of tea:
Lord of the Rings series
Fast and the Furiouseses (I'm not much of a one for cars)
Spirited Away or any other critically acclaimed anime film

Wont do "bad" films I liked as I'd be here all day. That's how I groove, baby. I think the most critically reviled film I actually enjoyed was probably Freddy Got Fingered. And Michael Winner is actually a cruelly underrated director, or at least an unfair cheap shot, which is not to say many of his films aren't awful.

Being married and with child (a previously birthed, now 3-year old one), I’m pretty good at avoiding the real turkeys. However, I did walk straight into a few disasters despite plenty of fair warning.

KOTCS
X-MEN 3
THE WILL SMITH ZOMBIE-FIGHTING ONE
THE HAPPENING
A HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT

Then there are those which deceived me. I co-nominate, for being anywhere from slightly to grotesquely overrated (and attempting to rank them in that order):

IRON MAN
ATONEMENT
STAR TREK
THE DEPARTED
CRASH
THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON

But the supreme winner for being the most miserable soul with the prettiest face goes to:

CHANGELING

I hate you, CHANGELING.

I seem to recall many very favorable reviews...with the usual nitpicking about excessive gore. I regard the film as a topnotch western, with Sly in fine laconic style, able to milk a minimalist style for an ample share of suspense.

When I think of something "overrated", I think not only of its quality as assessed by the reviews, but the quantity and longevity of those reviews. RAMBO may have been saluted when it first arrived on the scene, as any decent film is at the onset, but I think it was quickly escorted away as well. It just didn't make a big enough splash for it to now be considered overrated, the way I see it being discussed here.

Me too. But perhaps SecretAgentFan considers RAMBO to be so unbelievably dire that even those reviewers who slammed it six ways to Sunday were still overrating it. B)

I watched Epic Movie on TV the other week just to see what one of these "movies" is actually like. It was terrible in not quite but almost exactly the manor in which I envisoned, but I knew that when I turned on so it doesnn't make enough of an impact to really appear on a list for my money. Far more annoying are the films which by all rights could easily be good but are in fact terrible. Watching Red Dragon for example is like being betrayed by someone you've come to trust, for most people who have any halfway serious interest in film watching Epic Movie is like turning your back on someone, giving them a dagger and saying "stab me please".

Just remember another illustreously terrible movie after stumbling upon it in a TV guide; The Next Best Thing starring our own Madonna.

As far as been quoted as one of the best films of all time like some idiots have said then yes Dark Knight is overrated, of course it's not Citizen Kane or Chinatown but as far as blockbuster cinema in the last decade it has very few peers. Name a blockbuster better?

Departed was unfortunate enough to be the Marty movie that got the golden baldie, no it wasn't one of his best but it's still a solid thriller with 2 great lead performances from Dicaprio & Damon, forget Nicholson's auto pilot show-boating.

The Descent? Hot Fuzz? Valkyrie? really is some peoples worst or most overrated films of the decade? Inglourious Basterds had a mixed reaction, I can't say it received the kind of reactions that the film I would vote for one of as the most overrated of the decade The Bourne Supremacy! and Indiana Jones & The Crystal Skull alongside the SW prequels must take the award for the worst alongside M Night's utterly dreadful The Happening.

Wow, I'm seeing a lot of films that I actually really love on a lot of your lists. Across the Universe, The Dark Knight, Inglourious Basterds, Ice Age, and Where The Wild Things Are to name a few. I'm surprised though that no one has mentioned my worst film of the year, decade, and in the running for all time. Bruno. I have never actually hated a film before Bruno. I've thought that movies were really bad, and there were movies I didn't even finnish watching, but Bruno is the first film I have ever hated.

I take that back. Watchmen is the first film I ever hated. Then Bruno.

Quantum of solace (mainly because its soo bloody difficult to work out what the hell is going on throught most of it) sorry lads.
fast and furious (they have obviously run out of stunt drivers as they almost completely rely on cgi).
imaginarium of doctor whatever (cack, difficult to follow).
the strangers(tedious, then in the end its just like 'oh its just 3 people in masks').
the hills have eyes(sick, disturbing).

and basically anything with jennifer aniston, vince vaughn, adam sandler or aston kutcher in it. B)

Yeah, I forgot about KING KONG. I think it might make the list, although I can't recall if its high rating was something I fabricated out of my own expectations or if it came from without.

In any case, to really comment on it I'd have to rewatch it and I'm not going to do that. (But being fairly confident of my original opinion, I do suspect a healthy 90%+ of the KING KONG DVDs sold in the world have been collecting dust since their day of purchase.)

Yeah, King Kong was pretty bad. At the time, PJ's stock was at an all time high, coming off (no pun intended) from the LOTR trilogy and all of those Oscars. I recall the portion of the movie where Naomi Watts and the beast are bonding on the island. It was very excruciating to watch. I don't think I have walked out of a movie theater more than 10 times in this lifetime. Count King Kong as one.

There Will Be Blood
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Slumdog Millionaire
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

Anything with Will Ferrell

I'm sure I'm forgetting some there.

"Bad" films that I enjoy
Transformers
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Cloverfield
(is this one considered bad?)

I don't understand the hate for Transformers. If you're expecting something other than dumb spectacle, then shame on you. Why even watch it? It's pretty obvious what's coming at you.
