My Opinion,
1. Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Will be right age when Craig stops)
2. Ioan Gruffudd (Mentioned wanted to be Bond after Craig)
3. Henry Cavill (Will be right age when Craig stops)

B. I forget who now, but there was some Scottish actor I saw in something not too long ago and I remember thinking he'd make a decent 007 (will edit/update if I remember)
C. Someone I have never heard of before, like Craig pre-having seen Royale

No, Fassbender's too fey for Bond.
I suspect you'd consider Arnold Schwarzenegger too fey for Bond.

Best to get a young, cheap but brilliant unknown actor from the British stage .

Too bad Hugh Jackman is too old. He would have been good. It seems all the English actors I think of are too old.
How about Daniel Radcliffe? By the time Craig is done, he'll be at least 25 or so. LOL. Or not. Luke Ford could do it, perhaps. (From Mummy 3) He's Australian born in Canada. And Gruffudd sounds interesting. Jack Davenport might be too old after Craig. He's alredy 36. But he would be good too.

What we need is a MAN...to DOMINATE us...to make lo...er, well, moving on :
Tom Hardy (BRONSON, WUTHERING HEIGHTS, LAYER CAKE) is the heir to Craig's throne, slipping in and out of all kinds of roles like a chameleon. Pray he doesn't become too big for the gig by way of next year's roles in US flicks Warrior and Inception.

I can't believe some of what I'm reading here. Jonathan Rhys Meyers? Daniel Radcliffe? Ioan Gruffudd? Hello? How about someone who looks like they might not get blown over by a stray gust of wind?

All Fassbender needs to do is bulk up and he'll be just right. I don't doubt Hardy he's a fine actor and I'd be happy with him but as I touted Craig after seeing him in LC I feel the Fass is the man.

Henry Cavill

and Tom Hardy

Both are credible in different ways. Hardy seems to have more in common with Craig - diverse roles, 'serious' actor, untypical Bond looks. Cavill has a track record with Eon, has a following in America, and has the classic Bond look.
My feeling is that Cavill is the more likely of the two. I feel that Eon will go back to the classic Bond look after Craig. However, I would be happy with either of these two come 2015 or so.

At this early stage (hopefully Daniel Craig will do 2-3 more) I can see only two real candidates:
Henry Cavill

and Tom Hardy

Hardy has a problem as my Wife pointed out his looks, if people had a problem with DC then hell that will be a walk in the park compared to convincing anyone that Hardy is handsome.
Fassbender for me, I thought it as far back as seeing him in an old Poirot episode, my Wife has got a real thing for him but his level of acting is as good as DC in fact his choices have been better of late for roles. Hunger, Eden Lake and Inglourious Basterds.
Inglourious shows he can do it and I think some are now seeing what I have some time having witnessed his performance, Hardy is a great actor but no oil painting I'm afraid.
Ioan Grufford, I don't see it personally.
Michael Fassbender!

I want someone with a good, solid build. Someone who, more or less, looks the classic part and can therefore avoid negative press in addition to that which is already bound to happen for whomever tries to fill Craig’s shoes.
But, I want Laz’s boyish charm. A little more twinkle and playboy demeanor. Once Craig has established WAKALBOND (the Bond We All Know And Love), we drop the pretension completely and get to sleeping with gadgets, playing with alcohol, and drinking lots and lots of women in many different continents.

I want George Lazenby’s ghost, after having been through 50 years of intensive acting training in the Roger Moore University of Bond, manifested.

They could go the Benjamin Button-road and de-age Lazenby. EON would probably consider it if he was the last male actor on earth.
Seriously, I want an unknown. Craig was a complete nobody for me before I read rumours on AICN that he was considered for Bond (I had already seen him in Tomb Raider, but I still can't remember anything of his part in that poor film). I made an effort not to watch any of his previous films before CR, so that I would be able to completely buy him as 007 (which proved unnecessary, seeing what a fantastic job he did with the part). I would prefer a fairly unknown guy for the part when it is time to re-cast (hopefully in many years from now; Craig will probably age very well).
I really don't get why Cavill is such a popular choice. I'm sure I could accept him, but, come on, there MUST be more fitting actors out there.
Like Judo Chop says, it would be nice if the next actor did not attempt to copy Craig's portrayal in any way, just like Moore and Dalton did not copy their respective predecessors.

I concur that he is not the "classically handsome" type. In fact in Wuthering Heights with long hair, he reminded me of The Kurgan from Highlander But then again 'Heights' showed his potential for the romantic/brooding side of Bond.
But Craig has opened the door for shall we say, slightly off-kilter looking actors to be considered. I think once Bronson hits the USA followed by next year's Warrior where he plays a MMA fighter, he'll be getting more support.
The thing about that Cavill picture above is that he seems to be unsubtly posing in a Bond-like fashion. The choice would be adequate, but I can't see that he'd bring any particular spark to the role. I wonder if its this reason that he gets into the auditions for so many superhero roles but never actually wins any. He'd look the part, but, I get a Brosnan Jr. kind of vibe.
