Sure I was one of those people who loved the idea behind it, and even defended the notion of it...
But dammit, I'm ready for the gunbarrel to be back at the opening of the film. Sitting in the theater waiting for the newest Brosnan Bond to open, and then the gunbarrel jumping across the screen, man I got goosebumps...in fact I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it now.
And it got me in the mood to post this thread, because in all honesty I do miss having the gunbarrel at the opening. I do defend the reasonings for it's inclusion at the end of Quantum...and what a gunbarrel it is, but nothing gets me pumped for a Bond film in a way that having the gunbarrel at the start of the film does. The film can end up being a huge disappointment (TWINE), but for those 20 or so seconds it takes for the gb to unfold, I'm in heaven
Incidentally mine are (in no particular order):
LTK-I love the music in this one, the urgency of it all, then when Bond fires we segue into the classic theme. Just beautiful.
DAD-I can't fault Tamahori for wanting to have the CGI bullet. It was a gamble, and unfortanately it didnt pay off, but Arnold's composition really saves it. Why he chose to go back to the original gunbarrel composition for this film after his first two efforts still confounds me, but I in no way fault him for it.
QoS- Beautiful, deliciously retro while feeling modern. Not better than Kleinman's work, I'd say it's the same. Great music too. Craig's quick walk is really suited to his style of Bond.
OHMSS- Lazenby's kneel is really effective, too bad we didnt get to see it open more films.
