I Think We Get Bond 23 Earlier Than Anticipated

So a director has been earmarked, well that certainly doesnt "prove" the film will be out in 2010, I think it's wishful thinking that we'll get a Bond film every two years (believe me I'd love to have one in 2010), but let's be realistic here, mounting up a big budget blockbuster is hard work, we're in a different time now, it's not unheard of for sequels to take 3 years to be released, even when they go into production immediately after the previous film.
A lot of factors contribute to Quantum being released when it was. Namely that it was a true sequel, I'm sure the writers had already mapped out Bond's character arc for the film when Casino was in the post production stage. And if Michell hadnt walked we might have gotten it in 2008 like they initially planned.
As for Bond in summer again? I don't think so, the summer season has changed a lot since Bond dominated it, now it's all about big budget blockbusters with all star casts...and sequels. If Quantum had come out in May like originally planned I dare say it would have got lost amidst all the tentpole films. But that's just me.

None of us knows when BOND 23 will be released. All of us are going by hunches. You, me, Hildebrand, Zorin, zencat - everyone.
The 2010 mob can argue with the 2011 lot till both sides are blue in the face, but the fact is that no one knows.... other than the people who are making the film, of course.
However, it seems enormously likely that the film will hit cinemas in 2010 or 2011, judging by the news that Peter Morgan has been hired.
At least we have that one bit of concrete (and promising) news to celebrate. It does prove that they're actually going to be making the thing. It wasn't all that long ago that there was a bit of doom and gloom on CBn with posters speculating that, because of QUANTUM OF SOLACE's perceived underperformance coupled with the global financial crisis, there might not be a new Bond film for quite a few years.

I have only suggested that a whole raft of directors would have been looked at with a few more getting bigger crosses alongside their names at this point in the game...Ah dear Zorin, you tell us so much by saying so little.

The simple, boring truth of the matter is this:
None of us knows when BOND 23 will be released. All of us are going by hunches. You, me, Hildebrand, Zorin, zencat - everyone.

Some CBners were even claiming that QoS or Bond 23 may be the last of EON's Bond movies.
On another note I think people need to relax a litle and look at things a bit more objectively. QoS was supposed to be released in the summer of of 2008?? What a joke that would have been. The film gets pushed back, the script is dodgy and was still being worked on despite being pushed back and people expect QoS to do well in the summer?? Looool! The film got more dissapointing reviews when released in it's safety and comfort zone of the autumn of that year. Like others have said, the movies need to stick to where the money's at.

I would hate a summer release for a Bond film. Autumn/Winter is best, always gives you something to look forward to!
Ever heard of christmas?

I dont see summer 2011, so that would definitely suggest November/December 2010.

I think the whole Morgan thing, with him leaving the HBO project certainly suggests the film is on a fast track, which would suggest a 2010 release rather than a 2011.

wouldn't that mean they would have to start filming in about 6 months time though

But they could comfortably get the film out by Christmas 2010, even if they started shooting it as late as next March.

Certainly doable, even if somewhat improbable.

Haha, I just had a good lol at that. No idea why that made me laugh so hard, but it did.
