Isn't that the same as the radio edit, with a bit of padding in the middle?
Yes. If you are rebutting my statement about it being better I am referring just to the overall audio quality. Otherwise the lovey dovey stuff in the middle is the only new stuff I think.
I think it will be a 5 minute opening. The title sequence in the background went on for that long. Damn I'm excited!
No it won't, it'll be the radio edit, around 3 mins 50. Just like QOS, they cut out Alicia Key's wailing "Oooohhhh ohhhhhhh"" for the actual film titles, remember? Guessing it will be the same.
Woah! The full song is brilliant, getting used to the back up. Sexy and brassy...... All smiles. I admit I was dead wrong at first. Love the final moments of the song.
I love the opening Cmadd9 chord, Haunting stuff, and a tonality that Barry used a lot in the score for DAF (though not the song, that was down a semitone in Bm) - i.e. the beginning of Wint and Kidd. And also the opening/ending of the song "My Love Has Two Faces" that John Barry wrote for DEADFALL, sung by Shirley Bassey.
Surprisingly never heard that kind of sonority in DA's Barry-lite scores (too subtle maybe), which makes it refreshing.
Not sure about the bridge with the horns. A bit too on the nose, but it's alright.
The melodies in this song are subtle, and rather lovely. I suspect it will become quite infectious over the next few weeks. All in all, a very classy effort. Perfect for the 50th anniversary movie.
In comparison, "Another Way to Die" now sounds even worse - if that's possible.
I am the only one who notices the dancing girls / gun dropping in the sand / fire / guns in the background?
No. I know you want it to be part of titles but I am hard pressed to think they are. Just some jazz to put to some lyrics. Maybe they're background composites for the film but I'm guessing no more than that. Wouldn't make a ton of sense.

I guess so, but even still, that gun dropping in the sand looks too good to just be a composite.
As, I've stated previously, not a fan of the backing vocals. It's basically the third wheel, no use and doesn't really add to it. Good song, nevermore.
Only part I don't like and believe me I love everything even the chanting chorus, is at the end of her holding the skyfall at the end (which she does stupendously) she says oops or ooos. I know it's just her feeling the song but it takes away something for me. Does anyone else think that sounds weird? Help md through this one and only complaint of a near perfect Bond song!
The harder I look at it, the more I'm convinced we're seeing bits of the title sequence blurred behind the lyrics. A lot of girls, a lot of Bond. But the pistol at the end seems to me to be a dead giveaway. Still, no way of knowing.
I'm anticipating the opening title sequence for Skyfall a lot. More than ever, part of it is because of the song, the other because QOS opening title sequence was bad (in my opinion.)
Agreed x007!! I too, was very disappointed in MK12's effort with the QoS titles...Now that Daniel Kleinman is back for Skyfall, I expect greatness...especially with this lovely new song by Adele!

Spoiler
Yes, and there seem to be Rorschach blurs as well. Didn´t Kleinman say this time the titles would be a bit more psychological? Plus, I see stags, I see fire, I see chinese dragons, I see a ppk settling in a bottom of a river (?), It´s the whole bloody film! I think the film themes show up while Bond is sinking and then they end with the ppk setting on the bottom of the river. My two cents anyway.
