I read Colonel Sun and Ice-Breaker (for the first time) during my days in the sun, and can honestly say, Midas Gold would give them a good run any day.

‘Unghh! Unghh!’
Bond wanted to scream out but he was choking as Suliman continued to pull his head back. And then the giant lifted Bond higher above his head and he had his mouth to his chest, licking and sucking, biting Bond’s nipples passionately. Double O Seven slammed a knee into the monster’s stomach and chest but to no effect. Again and again, for all that he was worth, he slammed his knee harder and harder but Torosami Suliman was completely lost.

You really had me worried.

When I put Bond into a "situation" its always different from other characters because Bond cant die (its the rules)
But your plot, was able to put him in a different type of danger, where the outcome was somewhat terrifying.

I can now "unclench" go go for dinner.

Notes on Chapters Twelve and Thirteen:

The action in Chapter Twelve is good, fast-moving and brutal, but I actually prefer your Chapter Thirteen. The shifts in focus, from Faulkes' perspective on the combat, to Bond and Ysabelle's interrogation (shown from their separate viewpoints), to the reintroduction of young James, have all been handled very well. This shift between settings, characters, and points of view is more easily done on film; it's more difficult to cut back and forth within the structure of a single written chapter, and it's been well handled. As before, your portrayal of Nakamuro is very effective.

‘Now Sir Raymond Valance has asked for my help and I’ve accepted.’ M told him. ‘I want you to locate and stop that shipment from reaching its destination. Simple as that. I know its run-of-the-mill stuff, but until the Switzerland affair is over I want you out of JIC’s way. Clear?’
Bond nodded.
‘I trust Grazianizi will give me the relevant details when I get there.’
‘He’s already been informed you’ll be on the job.’
‘When do I leave?’
M looked sternly across at Bond.
‘Hope you haven’t made any plans for this week-end, James.’
‘As a matter of fact, sir, I haven’t.’

He watched the others remove their headsets and then got out with them. They were met by a middle-aged, powerfully built Japanese man with long silver hair tied up in a pony tail and who bowed then shook Yamada Nakamuro’s hand. He turned to look at Bond hard.
Bond ignored him and looked around, noticing the Italian flag at the bow, saw the words ‘KOGANE’ painted in bright gold letters on the sides of the cargo boxes and finally took in the magnificence of the immense ship.
The tall superstructure towered above them, beyond the rows of containers, bright white with black windows, ultra modern and out of a Science-Fiction film.
‘Behold, my dear Bond,’ Nakamuro said bringing him back down to earth. ‘Behold your final destination: the ‘Midnight Gold’ and the Mediterranean Sea. What a dark place to die, hmm?’
Bond looked across at him calmly, eyes cold though not to mention foreboding.
‘Tell me, Yamada,’ he said finally. ‘Where do you keep it? Your shipment of Kogane that is?’
Nakamuro’s face seemed to light up at that and Bond noticed the change immediately. It was as if the mad bastard had just been presented with a new bout of life...

The ‘Midnight Gold’ materialized out of the darkness beyond like some ancient dinosaur - strange, haunting; and as the helicopter circled above, James Bond looked out at the supercarrier and was certainly intimidated.
The helicopter then flew in and hovered directly above the illuminated flat landing deck, effortlessly landing on the giant H in a wide circle painted in white on the stern end.
...He had always tried making it a rule never to regret anything in life and more importantly never to look back. Regret was an appalling waste of energy upon which one couldn’t build anything on and was only good for wallowing in. But the fact was, he truly felt that he was now on his way to what every agent in his profession called the ‘place of execution’...

...‘Ah, Mr. Bond,’ Nakamuro said severely, shaking his head. ‘You ask too much of me. Why on earth would I even contemplate such a thing. You are worthless. Both of you. The only reason we are here now on the ‘Midnight Gold’ is to send out a message to others in your profession. Cross Midas Gold and you cross the devil himself. That is the message I want to send out. When they fish out the remains of both your bodies people will fear even the mention of my name, let alone contemplate taking me on, dear fellow.’...

...He didn’t know what had woke him up. He just opened his eyes with a start. A sound. Soft, barely audible. He held his breath, straining his ears. Just the rain tapping softly onto the windows. Then he heard it again and there was no mistake; someone was in the room.
The Colonel froze.
How many times had he thought of this moment, the moment death would lay her icy hands on him...

...Ysabelle looked down at her shaking hands and then the door opened and he was back, the young Japanese man.
She looked up at him and there was only desperate fear in her eyes. To think a couple of hours ago she had been flirting around with one of the most handsome men she had ever met – the father of the man she loved dearly. What had happened? What terrible thing had happened for them to have ended up here and now, in the hands of the devil himself?
He stood there in the doorway of the bedroom, dressed in black jeans and white shirt, hair slicked back and now there was something else in his eyes. Anger?
‘I thought I told you to clean yourself up, you dumb bitch!’ he shouted and it felt like a whiplash...

...James Suzuki was in his cabin when the helicopter landed, lying down on his bunk, enjoying his calm high. He opened his blood-shot eyes at the sudden sound of rotors thrashing above and ran a hand through his hair, swinging his legs around. Had he imagined it, the sound of a helicopter?...

Well, that's Chaptr 15 posted and should be up for viewing by tomorrow. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I did and that's saying something. I really enjoyed writing this Chapter. I thought it was going to be harder but heck it wasn't. I set deadlines in order not to become lazy and therefore have something to urge me on and all that. Anyway enough blowing my horn. I posted early cause I've got a plane to catch tomorrow morning. Hopefully all will be fine. Please allow me to wish you a Merry Christmas now as I doubt I'll be able to in the coming days. Keep safe and if you go out do not drink and drive and always watch your backs. Say a prayer to your God for all those people who won't be with their famillies during the festive season either because they've left us or are fighting in some remote war torn place. Life is a wonderfull thing, no matter how hard it can get sometimes and James Bond makes it even better:)

Hi everyone. Just a quick hello from my London hotel, nice and warm in bed, enjoying the beauty of it all. Half a bottle of bubbly downed already and I've just realized that I've been at this Fan Fic novel for the past year now. Midas Gold! Where that title came from only God knows:)

One year continuously on the go to finish it by New Years day 2010. And by Odin's eye I will, and that's a fact.

It's been nice building up this story and guiding Mr. Bond through all the sticky situations I came up with to test the bastard. Oh, I know, I know, I'm just playing here. But what a game! Pretending to be a first class author commissioned to continue the Bond series.

Fantastic!

And where else if not CBn.

Four Fan Fic novels. Four Bond stories that have satisfied the hell out of me. Putting them together was a feat, to say the least. Scene after scene, danger after danger. The 'oh, ' moments where you hit your head against the wall 'cause you've put Bond in a situation that is too complicated to get him out, let alone contemplate it. Arrgh! how many times I've tossed and turned at night playing those scenes in my head.

To be truthful though it was bloody worth it though. Damn, it was worth it. I rather like Midas Gold the best out of them. Don't know why. The thing came naturally somehow more than the others.

Now I know it's just fan fiction and no one is going to sue me for either plagiarism or copyright infringement or whatever the hell it's called because that would be taking it too seriously, but heck, I'm sure you'll all agree that the effort was good and that given an expert hand, who knows the story itself could, just could, be up there with the other official Bond stories. I don't write or try to write in Fleming's style, mind (I wouldn't know how even if I wanted to). But my hero is the great John Gardner and the way he went about his Bond novels.

Anyway, all this is down to too much bubbly this evening so please don't take any notice of me.

The pilgrim had reached the end of his golden journey on this one and the fact was he didn’t care much about himself as much as he did his son. First of all, I would like to apologies for the delay in posting the final chapter of MIDASGOLD.
It wasn't due to the partying (although I must say party I did - and heck what a party!).
No.
The main reason was I wanted to give something that was worthy of your readership:) That's right.
I wanted to come up with something that would really have you clinging onto the edge of your seats; and strictly speaking I really believe I have come up with the goods.
The ending I had actually written was good, but being in the army and all, I wanted it better!
Primarily I wanted to up the action and emotion slightly, which my original draft lacked to tell you the truth.
Obviously this is all subjective in that to me it is good enough to post.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it though. I have a knack for these things.
So, brace yourselves gentle readers, for the ultimate chapter of MIDASGOLD. I guarantee it'll blast you right out of your seats...
