I wonder if this has any bearing whatsoever on the release date. Most of us would love filming to start in January 2010, but it's still looking like a late 2011 release to me.

(...) if you want to dismiss that there is an obvious comparisson to the film's action scenes to that of Bourne by all means do so. It's not about if I want them to be there, it's a FACT that they are there. They even hired the Dan Bradly as 2nd unit director for goodness sake. Tell yourself anything you want if it will make you feel better. However, I'm merely telling it how it is as opposed to you assuming I'm coming up with half baked excuses to "suit a theory" or what ever it was you said.

Good shot. But you know there's plenty like him in the neighborhood ! They reminds me somethin'...in a certain Bond film...
Three blind mice there they go... B)

The two phrases "pot" and "kettle" come to mind. As does the phrase "sheep"...

And can people who haven't really a clue stop throwing in Dan Bradley as if that wins an argument about not liking QUANTUM OF SOLACE?

Shall we look at Dan Bradley's CV....SEABISCUIT, FREE WILLY 3, DONNIE DARKO, ADAPTATION, THREE KINGS and CASINO - I don't quite see the so-called Bourne-ness there. Unlike some of the comments against him being bandied around here, he is not a one-trick pony and neither is his work on SOLACE. Also - and I hate to tell you folks - it is worth watching OHMSS for how a fight scene is edited and choreographed. That is where you find the DNA of Bond action scenes - not the Bourne films.

And it most certainly worth noting that it is an EDITOR who cuts a fight sequence based on what was filmed. An editor could make Bradley's Bourne work look like a slo-mo ballet if they like. What you apparently so scorn is creatively nothing to do with the stunt unit.

You would do well to actually read my posts before assuming that I don't like QoS. I mentioned Bradley to emphasise a factual point, highlighting a pretty obvious similarity between some of the action scenes in QoS and the Bourne films. I have never once decalred that I have a problem with it but instead have pointed out that, it's a focal factor that many people pick up on and introduce when discussing QoS. Clearly, your over zealous fanaticism with QoS is making you see things that aren't there. Just relax!

Yes, but it's not as though he was hired for anything other than his work on Bourne.
Zorin mentions SEABISCUIT, FREE WILLY 3, DONNIE DARKO, ADAPTATION, THREE KINGS and CASINO - does anyone really think that those films got him the QUANTUM OF SOLACE gig, or was it more his action work for Bourne?

Let's be realistic here. To deny the Bourne influence on QUANTUM OF SOLACE (as though it's somehow wrong for Bond to be influenced by something else - it's how the Bond series has kept going all these decades!) is just plain ridiculous.

Exactly!

I don't understand why some people are so sensitive about the matter or trying to deny it. It's more than obvious and you'd have to be a rather pathetic fanboy to dismiss is, acting as though they're trying to cover up the biggest sin since murder.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but here's hoping they shy away from the Bourne influences for the next installment. I'm sure that guy is really talented (in fact, I like the Bourne films), but that style didn't vibe well with Bond I felt.

Imo, the only thing Bond needs to stay away from are, the rapid, frentic quick cut editing styles. It's something that has been highlighted as a negative factor and even Wilson adressed it, saying something along the lines of they were just experimenting with it. Well, here's hoping they go back to a more clear and less frantic editing style. With regards to the rest of the action, it's contemporary stuff that you'd expect to see. The Brosnan-type action/combat scenes which were updated Roger Moore action sequences never realy delivered. Craig's fighting style and grittiness reminds me of lazenby, who I feel is still the best Bond fighter and is superior to anything that Bourne ever did. If the Bond movies need a template for combat scenes, just go and watch OHMSS.

I can agree with most of that.

Well said! B)

I I think Eon will want to do something special and release a movie in 2012 and imo I'm pretty sure we'll have Bond 23 and 24 by 2012.

I was thinking about this today, and it struck me that we didn't have a Bond film in '72, '82 or '92 for the 10th, 20th or 30th anniversary, so I wouldn't be at all suprised if the 50th anniversary was low-key.

Yew, but when the 25th anniversary hit in 1987 there was a lot of Bond related merchandise in the stores and a new 007 actor in Tim Dalton.

Dalton wasn't done for the anniversary, though. Moore left the role and naturally they needed a new Bond. The coming out in '87 is more than likely just their new film every two years strategy.
