Obviously, the names of some of the girls are the most glaring examples:

Ms Broadchest.

Even her first name of "Stephanie" is a connotation. Even though the second part of "stiff-fanny" means something else to Brits/Aussies than to the Americans it still works.

What hot blooded male wouldn't want some hottie with a stiff fanny? North Americans do engage in some English...one in a while, ya know!

Don't Americans refer to the bum/butt as a "fanny"? As an Aussie when I say/hear "fanny" it refers to the ...errr... front bum.

O...I did not know that. Interesting! :)

Gotcha! Thanks...i'll keep it in mind next time i'm in London or Sydney. :(

Like I said, "Stephanie" it still works either way as a sexual connotation. :(

How could you all be forgetting the classic new dialogue when Bond and Mathis meet Agent Fields in the La Paz airport? :(

MATHIS: "Do you think she has handcuffs?"
BOND: "Oh, I do hope so."

S&M, anyone? :)

Yep. That's the main one from Quantum, the film with the least amount of sexual innuendos of the entire series, unless i'm mistaken.

The Moore ones are loaded with them and I think the Dalton ones seem very toned down.

From LALD:
Rosie: "I'm going to be completely useless to you!"
Bond: "Oh, I'm sure we'll be able to lick you into shape."

Urgh. I find that one of the more vulgar connotations for some reason...

Oh, can someone clear up the whole Plenty O'toole thing for me. Is her name something to do with masturbation?

Fields: Mr. Bond, my name it's fields, I'm from the consulate.
Bond: Of course you are.

Denotes that the female body is like a Field; mountains and so.

LOL!

When ConneryBond hears her name he, after noting her huge tits, retorts "Named after your father, perhaps?".

If you need me to make it clearer, he's suggesting Plenty's dad had a BIG tool.

Get it?

How did you get masturbation out of that one?!

LOL!

I have a feeling this thread's gonna be a ball...

The "swallow it" bit is a joke in that you think he is going to say "you stick it up your butt" like you would a suppository for diarrhea. At least in the 1960's there was this pill like thing that you would put up there and it would disolve and cure the problem. That is how I always took that line.

In Dr. No when Miss Taro walks away from Bond to answer the phone he does not let her take her wet towel with her and he puts it in his mouth to taste her. I think that is more than a connotation and was extra powerful back in 1962/63.

swallow[/i] it"/"I resent that remark" exchange in THUNDERBALL? I've never understood it. If it's a reference to BJs, it isn't funny. If it isn't---- well, what's the joke?

I agree.

There's no suggestion of any tangential oral sex activity in that line, especially given the era.

DAF is filled with these types of jokes. One that stands out (sorry) for me is the when Bond and Plenty find the hoods in his Vegas suite and says "I'm afraid you've caught me with more than my hands up." It took me years to figure that was a double entendre/sexual connotation.

Another in the bridal suite with Tiffany is "Relax, darling, I'm on top of the situation."

This is a rather interesting one. We find out in Dr. No what Moneypenny prefers in the bedroom...

Bond: Moneypenny! What gives!?
Moneypenny: Me.... given an ounce of encouragement.

... oral sex?

:(

Oh, I love these man talk threads! Nice idea Matthew!

Thunderball

Domino: "What sharp eyes you have Mr.Bond!"
Bond: "Wait till you get to my teeth!"

The Spy Who Loved Me

Bond: "What else did they teach in this survival course?
(Anya gets her cigarrete out)
Bond: "Just when it was getting interesting!"

It's just like asking the question, Do you like to give oral sex, or recieve it? Moneypenny said she would perform oral sex on Bond, if he were to give her encouragement, if that makes sense.

OK, it makes sense :(
I don't remember the context of the dialogue, though... Sounds very crude for a Moneypenny line, doesn'tit? :)

Me neither, and I just watched it this morning. From what I remember, Moneypenny slaps Bonds hand.

Oh, another one... probably one of the crudest...

"Wait, don't pull it out... I haven't finished with it yet!"
"You see... it's a perfect fit."
"uhuh... leave it in."
"Well it's gotta come out sooner or later."
"No... leave it in, please.... just a few more minutes."

:(

I don't even think I need to explain that one.

I'll fill you in later, Moneypenny.

Well, if nothing else, at least I've laid your fears to rest.

Moneypenny, a feast for my eyes.
What about the rest of you?
I was going to get around to that.

Having problems keeping it up, Q?

Certainly. But if it makes you feel better, he does kiss her right after so you can pretend he was meaning her mouth was the right size for him to kiss.

Another good one no ones mentioned is Xenia's climaxing as she mass slaughters innocent civilians. Strange how some people get their kicks. :(

Has anyone got any good Dalton-era innuendo's? It seems the sexual content was toned down during his tenure.

Yes... sure... :)
Actually, I don't say the line makes me feel bad. :D But I am amazed to hear that in an early-sixties movie

Indeed, but maybe it's because this is beyond connotation. She's climaxing, full stop, no double entendre or subtle touch :)

Well it is still a sexual innuendo, MHarkin. Plenty O'Toole suggests plenty of a tool, in other words a large penis.

This is a rather interesting one. We find out in Dr. No what Moneypenny prefers in the bedroom...

Nope. "What gives?" means "what's up?" and when Moneypenny says she gives, she means she gives in, she will submit to Bond. Giving in this sense, is like "giving way". If you push a stuck door long enough it "gives" and you can open it.

Thunderball:
Bond: I was right, I couldn't miss. (refering to mole on thigh)
Domino: I'm not with you!
Bond: Oh, you soon will be. :(

Yes, plus after they have sex underwater, he comments on hoping they didn't scare the fish!

I also thought that another obvious one is from Tomorrow Never Dies:-

"You always were a cunning linguist, James".

Hey Zorin, what do you make of my take on Le Chiffre?

Btw, anyone notice Le Chiffre's surpressed homo-erotic tendencies? He couldn't care less if his girlfriend got chopped up by Obanno but look at the way he oogles over a stripped naked Bond, starting with an emphatic "wow"...and then noting how Bond's "really taken care of your body"...and sighing that it would be "such a waste" to have his balls beaten.

Gay S&M for Le Chiffre, anyone?

It wouldn't have surprised to have the kinked Le Chiffre wanting some back door banging with Our James. :(

I agree. I thought it the first time I saw the film and still do now. It's subtle, it's slight, but it's there. Although the naked torture scene is in the ROYALE novel there is no reason BOND has to be starkers at that point in the film - especially when you think of the other changes from page to screen.

(I've started and added to threads about the gay thing and Bond before. Daniel Craig has recently been voted 4th most fit bloke in a leading gay online poll)

Agreed too.
The gay S&M touch is there also in the CR novel, to be true.
Although, Zorin, I disagree with Bond being unnecessary starkers during this scene: 1) given the nature of the torture and 2) given the fact that stripping Bond naked is also part of the torture process (as a mean to humiliate and unsettle the victim).
