Two options for me:
Uma Thurman or Charlize Theron

Charlize, yes. Uma, please no. just dont think she could play the role. I love american actresses, but i am a little hesitant since the last two were garbage (Denise much more than Hale)

Why waste a good opportunity to remake OHMSS and YOLT? It's not like YOLT is beloved by the core fans, and most outside of Bondage don't know much about OHMSS or even remember Lazenby. It's now or never.

Completely agreed. I don't know if I'd want them to do that with BOND 23 or BOND 24, but if they could keep Craig around for, say, 6 films, then I think that it would be phenomenal if they made a film that adapted certain elements of OHMSS for his second to last film, and a full adaptation of YOLT as his final film.

Uma has a lot more class and brains and talent than Denise. She could make a good Bond woman as long as the role isn't stupid. Still, I wouldn't want her in a Bond film with Craig because she's taller than him! B)

Anne Hathaway would probably make a better Monnypenny rather then Bond girl.

Don't agree. I find her too sexy to be Moneypenny. She should be cute, not that attractive as Ms. Hathaway is, IMO.

I'm a big fan of the gorgeous Ms Weitz but those pictures don't do her any justice at all, she looks ill.

I hope this isn't what she looks like now after a Hollywood make over or something, she had natural beauty these photo's make her look very pale and thin.

Because from experience, most american Bond girls have been regarded as horrible.

Halle Berry, Denise Richards, Tanya Roberts, Jill St. John and Lois Chilles all haven't been percieved as positive additions to the franchise.

Whose experience? Yours? From my point of view, Halle Berry was great. So was Carey Lowell. Jill St. John was pretty good until THE WRITERS turned her character into a dimwit, and Denise Richards was decent. Tanya Roberts, Barbara Bach and Lois Chiles were a bit wooden.

If they decide to cast another American actress, I say go ahead. I find this attitude toward American actresses in general rather ludicrous.

Charlize, yes. Uma, please no. just dont think she could play the role.

And how did you come to this conclusion? B)

Anne Hathaway would probably be my choice. Although it would be nice if she we're to play a Brit in the movie, because all of the American Bond girls have annoyed me.

Why on earth would an American actress have to portray a British character in order to satisfy you?

No I think those pictures are a little photoshopped (ya think?) there because in Cannes and recent pic she looks quite healthy.

A big thumbs up for Ms Weisz

I thought she was amazing in "A Constant Gardener"

I've not seen her recently and think the pix show her as a bit thin.

Come on Rachael, get the curves back and lets see you act.

Hey guys, more photos would be appriciated

I just want a well written role acted by an actress with the proper amount of talent.

If I had my way, it would be a European unknown, but that would mean that Diana Rigg was wring for OHMSS, and we know that's not true.

The biggest problem with American actresses is that their roles were poorly written. Tiffany Case, Stacey Sutton, Christmas Jones (giving any female the surname "Jones" in a Bond movie is a major mistake) and Jinx were just badly conceived characters with terrible dialog to recite.

What they do is not hire complete unknowns, but those who may have had minor parts in movies you've seen. Prior to CR I had no idea who Daniel Craig was, until I was reminded he was in Tomb Raider (which I have seen but can't remember him). Same with Eva Green from Kingdom of Heaven, Mads Mikklesen from King Arthur, Mathieu Amalric from Munich and Olga Kurylenko from Hitman (haven't actually seen it, but heard about it).

My point is it won't be a complete unknown, more like "oh it was that girl who was in that movie"

No offence but I think you're projecting your own ignorance of international cinema onto the Bond producers there - except for Olga Kurylenko all of the people you mention above were aclaimed leading actors in films in their own countries before their involvment with Bond, they just weren't known to American mainstream audiences.

Rachel Weisz? I'd say she's a pretty wooden actress with an incredibly weak voice, and far too thin for Bond.

I don't think that Christmas Jones was badly written or acted by Richards. I think that too many people were paying too much attention to her boobs and decided right then and there that Richards should not be playing a scientist.

Giving anyone female the surname "Jones" is a bad idea? How did you come to this conclusion? The only character with a "Jones" surname was portrayed by Richards.

Jinx had badly conceived dialog? Nearly every major character in DAD had bad dialogue . . . including the overrated Miranda Frost. Her love scenes with Bond still makes me wince to this day. And she's English.

Honey Ryder? One of the most USELESS Bond female characters in the franchise's history. The only thing she did to catch everyone's attention was to walk out of the water in a bikini. That's it. Was she an American? Oooo . . . wait a minute. Apparently not.

Mie Ama as Kissy Suzuki? Another less than satisfying Bond leading lady. Solitaire? Jane Seymour is a good actress, but I feel she was saddled with a horrible role. I can say the same for Britt Ekland, a Swedish born actress who had one of the worst female roles in the franchise history - the British born Mary Goodnight. The Swedish born Maud Adams? A classy lady, but a wooden actress. The nine years between MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN and OCTOPUSSY had not improved her acting skills. Kristina Weyborn? Another European actress with poor acting skills.

I'm still not convinced that EON Productions should avoid hiring American actresses or that only European actresses should be hired. This sounds like nothing more than good old fashioned bigotry to me.

The Jones surname is not very exotic for my tastes.
I also immediately think of long ago black-exploitation character Cleopatra Jones. The name should be more creative for a Bond movie.

I'm taking the opportunity of this thread to launch a little series of posts that will soften my wait for the too far Bond 23 scheduled in 2011. I decided to present each month an actress that could, according to me, play a good Bond girl opposite Daniel Craig.

My July pick goes to... ROSE BYRNE

Posted Image

* Born July 24th 1979 => 32 y.o. in 2011 - Australian.
* Was my top choice for the Vesper part in 2006, before it was given to Eva Green. I had been (and I'm still) convinced by her "sweet-and-yet-grave" glance, her pale beauty.
* A really promising ant talented Australian actress, she'd been accustomed to big productions as she landed supporting roles in Star Wars, Troy or Sofia Coppola's Marie-Antoinette. It's now time for her to be casted as a main part.
* Could she be interested ? I don't think so - she's currently contracted for "Damages" series, but let's say Never say never again.

For my first post, let's double the pleasure...

My August choice is... NOOMI RAPACE

Posted Image

* Born December 28th 1979 => 32 y.o. in 2001 - Swede.
* Really convincing as Salander in the Millenium movie, with a certain darkness that could suit to a good BG part.
* Would offer a strong change when comparde to the previous Swede girls (Maud Adams, Britt Ekland, Kristina Wayborn, Mary Stavin ... all blondes !!!).
* Could she be interested ? Could be... the opportunity to lunch an international career.
