Both Portman and Weisz are beautiful and sexy. I'd go as far as saying Portman has a slightly prettier face, obviously younger and imo is a stronger actress. Her work in, the other Bolyn girl was nothing short of amazing. I'd love to have both actresses in Bond 23.

Portman is overrated.

Hopefully Bond 23 will continue the tradition in the Craig films to stay away from big name actresses that plagued the Brosnan films.

You know I do so agree.

I post these big name actresses because they are beautiful but one thing I like about Craig et al, is that they give relativity (in the matter of internationally known) unknown actors and actresses a shot.

Someone mentioned Heike Makatsch on another thread but I think that will not happen for obvious reasons.

Whoever the new leading Bond girl is, please don't let her be so skinny. I remember seeing pre-movie publicity shots of Olga Kurylenko in her 'push up' undies -- and she looked amazing but when it came time for the movie, she looked skinny. Nice to have a heroine who doesn't look like a boy.

Agree with earlier post that its time for a redhead. Luciana Paluzzi in Goldfinger was one of the best looking girls ever in a James Bond movie.

But failing a redhead, agree that Rachel Weisz would be a brilliant choice. But her face is too intelligent to be a 'bimbo' -- and could Daniel handle another love interest so soon? Maybe Rachel Weisz should be the villain.

perhaps an american?

The Bond girls in the last two movies have been European, but that fit in with the plots of the film. So, if the next Bond film was to be partly set in America, as has been rumoured ages ago, then an American could indeed be a good choice.

You know what else we haven't seen in a while, a redhead. Seriously, we haven't had one since the Connery era, I think we're due.

Before QOS I would have agreed with this, but since Gemma Arterton's appearance, I think to have another redhead wouldn't work two movies in a row. You can get away with brown or blonde, as they are more common hair colours and therefore stand out less. If there was to be a redhead Bond girl two movies in a row, it could seem like James Bond was developing a disposition for them!!

On the idea of an American again, why not use another Desperate Housewife? If a redhead was needed, I would've suggested Marcia Cross, on the good or bad side, but since we've already had one, perhaps the blond Felicity Huffman? She has a strong personality and when dressed up looks stunning. Furthermore, we haven't had a blond Bond girl (besides Le Chiffre's girl Valenka). Perhaps this is because Bond is himself blonde, but really that shouldn't affect who the Bond girls are.

Huffman is both well known and not so well known. She is predominately a Desperate Housewives actress, with occasional appearances in films such a Raising Helen. Thus, she's known, but not too well known that audiences would not view her merely as a guest celebrity appearance- this would be the case if Jennifer Aniston was chosen for the role.

Eva Green was such a good choice for this reason. Kingdom of Heaven was the only other well known film she had been in before Bond, so her character in Bond was able to breathe so to speak- it was not under the pressure of a well known previously established identity that one comes to associate her with (eg. Jennifer Aniston as above, Angelina Jolie, etc).

So that's my verdict. Take it as you will.

Absolutely no Desparate Housewives in a Bond film. Im sure there are many actresses with talent and beauty who will be far better choices. Diane Kruger for example.

I love love love Desperate Housewives. But, I agree with you. I enjoyed Teri Hatcher in Tomorrow Never Dies, but any of the others? Nah, I can see Hatcher as a Bond girl, because she was. I can not see any of the others in the role. Not even the brilliant Felicity Huffman.

Welsh beauty Lisa Lazarus sets her sights on Bond role

Jan 17 2010 Claire Rees, Wales on Sunday

BOLLYWOOD beauty Lisa Lazarus might play a sweet-natured princess in her new film but she’s setting her sights on a much tougher role – as a Bond girl.

The Llanelli-born model had to learn how to sing and ballroom dance for the budget-smashing Veer, which gets its worldwide release on Friday, but she told Wales on Sunday the extreme conditions on set got her in shape for what she hopes will be a role playing alongside 007.

Lisa, 22, landed her debut Bollywood role in the historical Indian war drama when film bosses spotted her compete at Miss Universe and has spent months shooting scenes in Mumbai and the Indian desert in 45-degree heat.

And she admitted she’s terrified about watching herself act on screen for the first time in front of an audience that will include A-list stars from the continent’s massive film industry when it opens with a huge premiere in London’s Leicester Square this Friday.

“It took me a whole month to learn one song and it’s going to be so weird to watch because I know exactly what was going on behind the scenes – I was being bitten all over by flies caught in my 15 kilo ballgown!” she said – adding lead actor Salman Khan, dubbed the Bollywood Brad Pitt, had to help her learn the complicated dance moves.

“It’s set in the British-ruled 1890s so obviously I didn’t have a clue where to start – it was like being back in school,” she said.

“I couldn’t grasp the way they dance – everything in India is done differently – even riding a horse.

“On one occasion, I ended up falling flat on my face and Salman had to help me up!”

Lisa, who rents homes in London and Dubai, and makes the journey home for Sunday dinners at her mum’s home in Llanelli, has been working non-stop since she signed up for the part and has been such a hit in India, she has already shot her second movie.

“It was pretty stressful by the end of Veer because I had started filming on that,” she said.

“So I ended up flying 12 hours to Mumbai, then a five-hour car journey to a desert in Jaipur, then back on a plane to South India to start on set.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the end result now – I just hope people like it.”

And the ambitious brunette has just flown back from talks with Hollywood big-hitters who think they can secure Lisa her dream role in a James Bond film.

“As a model, I’ve always wanted to play a Bond girl,” she said.

“I’ve met agents in LA and hopefully it will happen. I’m too late for the next one but maybe I’ll send Daniel Craig a letter.

“I’d be a Tomb Raider-type and save Bond so I’d end up as the hero.”

But before all that, radiographer student Lisa has some less exciting matters to deal with closer to home – her university exams.

“I’ve got loads of coursework to do and then a physics exam on the day of the premiere so I’m going to be finishing that and then running back to put on my dress and get to Leicester Square,” she said.

“It’s all been a bit crazy so I’m looking forward to some time off in March, hopefully getting back to LA, and we’ll see what’s next.”

Ever heard of hair dye? B)

Anyway, maybe the Bond catalogue may end up in Indian hands so you never know.
Tons of beautiful actresses in the Bollywood industry including many Europeans who have distinct looks who go there to earn a crust.

Largest film industry in the world is in India.

Been a while since we've had a blonde leading lady, hasn't it? Rosamund Pike was the secondary, but as far as the #1 girl, we haven't had a blonde since TLD, 22 years ago. 'Bout time for another, I think. Diane Kruger would work -- she's European, somewhat known in the states but not especially famous, and got props (and a Screen Actors' Guild award nomination) for Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds".

Dave

Agreed. If they want to go with a blonde actress, then it should either be Diane Kruger or Yvonne Strahovski. Either one would be great in a Bond film.

Except I doubt they'll go with an actress who's currently booked on series television, it'd be impossible to schedule.

I may be showing my age here, but personally I'd like to see a trend towards slightly older women in the Bond films - closer to mid-30s as opposed to early-20s, particularly as it seems we'll have a Bond in his 40s for the foreseeable future.

Too often the "strong women" in the movies were anything but - they may have been outwardly "tough" (though does anyone really buy Barbara Bach as a top KGB agent or Carey Lowell as a CIA pilot) but they lacked inner strength and confidence.

Women in their 30s still look beautiful and also have a stronger sense of who they are and what they're capable of than their younger counterparts.

While researching to see if this news had been reported anywhere else, I came across this quote by Rachel Weisz. “I’d really love the chance to work with Jim Sheridan. What a big heart he has.” Well, it looks like Rachel Weisz will get that opportunity, starring for Sheridan with Daniel Craig and Naomi Watts in Dream House.

Filming on Dream House is getting underway in downtown Toronto and earlier today the location manager for the production was distributing flyers to area businesses informing them that filming would be taking place in the coming days. We got our hands on one of those flyers indicating that the movie stars Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz. We knew about Craig and Watts, but Weisz being involved was news to us.

The movie stars Craig as a father who moves into a new house with his family and discovers that their new home was the site of another family’s slaughter, believed to be at the hands of the husband who survived. According to previous reports, Naomi Watts will play the neighbor. So is it safe to assume that Weisz will be playing Craig’s wife? We’ll see what we can find out and report back soon.

- I get to see yummy Rachel with Craig (even though not in a Bond movie)
It's all good. B)

HALLE BERRY's new perfume ad has a familiar feel.

The Oscar-winner rekindled memories of her most famous movie scene when she played a Bond Girl.

She starred in Die Another Day alongside PIERS B) BROSNAN and keeping with tradition, she first appeared walking out of the sea in a bikini.

Halle's swapped a two-piece with a purple dress in the promo for Pure Orchid.

She also felt there was no need for a knife.

- Anyone smelt this? the perfume that is..
