The PPK is better than the P99. But if Bond were not to have a Walther, why not the ASP?
As much as I love the ASP (I have two of the Wisconsin ASPs and if I can ever add a Quest for Excellence model or one of the NY guns to my collection, you can bloody well count on me doing my best to do just that) it's been out of production for some time, the brilliant artist who created it passed away in 2006, Armament Systems and Procedures has routinely refused to answer the most basic questions about the ASPs they themselves made, and all this adds up to a rare and exquisite, albeit deadly, work of art.
As much as I would like to see Bond with a weapon with some of the advances of the ASP, unless it was a new production (and yes, I have tried to find out who the current owner is of the intellectual property for the design in the hopes of being able to produce an official new version) where the hard anodising was repaired prior teflon coating, an essential long term durability issue remains unresolved.
It was concerns over the durability of the ASP that prompted me to limit my carry loads to Federal 124gr Nyclads. Bond ought not to be limited by such concerns.
