If they going to chuck loads on actionn into Bond #23, they could at least get someone who knows their way around an action film. I really have no problem with the ammount of action, so long as it's done right.

Nah, Forster passed on the project unfortanately B)

Good. So what about a director that understands action?

What, you mean Forster? I already told you he passed on the film.

No. That's an oxymoron.

I still don't see it. I think the action sequences in QoS (with perhaps the exception of the dog fight) are some of the best sequences in the series...or at least within the last 20 years.

That's not particularly hard, with the Brosnan era being the nadir of the franchise.

I agree. The action in Quantum of Solace was great, and better than much of what we've seen in the past couple of decades. I know that Forster has turned down the film, but I'd be very happy if he were to return to the series at some point.

My main problems with Forster aren't mainly to do with the action, but are down to his "vision" of Bond.

What particularly is wrong with his vision of Bond?

Practically everything about it. It's obvious his inspiration was more from 70s paranoiac thrillers (The Ipcress File, Parallax View) than 60s Bond or anything remotely Fleming.

That's because it would demand an essay-like answer that I'm too bloody tired to give at 2 in the morning.

I'd really like to see Martin Campbell return to direct 23. I know he's going to be busy with the Green Lantern movie though.

How about Phillip Noyce?

I keep returning to Bigelow. She stands the chance of winning the Best Director Oscar - which would be the first female winner, if I´m correct.

Now that would be something: First woman to win Best Director AND director a Bond film.

Also, Bigelow is a hell of a great action, suspense and actor´s director.

I honestly wouldn't mind it either.

UI'm tempted though to go with Brian Synger Usual Suspects and Xmen were both good films and would ber good for bond 23.

I don't think that Singer would be a good choice for Bond. His X-Men movies are awful (although admittedly better than the third film), and Valkyrie was one of the most disappointing films I've seen in quite some time.

Don´t worry - Singer is tied up with another film and after that the Young X-Men stuff.

That's good news.

With all of the time it's taking to secure a studio for the franchise and getting the film greenlit, hopefully they return to Marc Forster one last time and ask him to return to the director's chair. I'd love to see what he'd do with another Bond film, whether he'd keep it in a similar style to QOS or if he would do something entirely different.

I doubt Forster is even on the list. Been there, done that. I would prefer someone else. Don't know whom, but there must be several that are good enough, though you never know until you see the finished movie.

BTW, as an aside, I used to think Guy Ritchie was totally unsuitable to do a Bond because of his strong personal style. However, this morning I saw Sherlock Holmes, and I felt like it was almost not 'Guy Ritchie' enough. In other words, he might be getting ready to do a Bond in the future, by toning down his own style but still emphasizing the action.

I'm tempted to put Guy ritche foward as a potential bond 23 director especialy if Sherlock holmnes is as good as it looks i'll be seeing it soon enough.

Ridley Scott or Mathiew Vaughn. Scott is my favorite living Director but is likely too big for EON. Vaughn would deliver a great film.

i feel like scott isnt actually too big for eon because for a director who has made as many large and successful movies as he has he still seems to bow to studio pressure of several occasions. not sure if that is a good thing though.

Agreed. Before Public Enemies I would have said Michael Mann, but now I'm not too sure, the same with Michael Vaughn.

My top choices are currently Katherine Bigalow and Peter Weir.
