Come now. "Not that close"?
Similar, but not that close, imo *shrug*
It's close! Too close for Quentin's comfort, I'd say. Plus, Taubman looks a lot more Tarantino in QOS than he does in this pic.
I'm telling you... EON has returned fire!

I tend to think the name is more about achieving irony by slapping ultimate coolness onto purified uncoolness, but it's worth considering the possibility...

Interesting, though. Close enough for me to make it plausible.

The receding hairline over a prominent forehead...
The awkward, beakish nose...
The snarling wormy lips...
Not since VanHalen's OU812 album has such a deliberate counterattack been waged! And but hark... now QT is talking about starting another Spy Series©?!?
IT'S ALL-OUT WAR!!!

Bondrules to Taubman: “What’s your name?”
Taubman: “I am Quentin Tarantino’s brother”.
A most peculiar response, you think?
I don’t.

I really wonder.
(Wouldn't it be funny if the actor decided that's all he'd say in hopes that the others would think he's been told by the head honchos to say nothing else?)

Next time I see QOS I am going to have a much greater appreciation for the character. I feel a bit thick for not seeing some of the character points brought up here.
I don't feel too slow for missing the QT connection, though. It's damned whacky but now undeniably true!

Yes... the Law of Diminishing Resemblances.Byline, I think we are nearing the point where the theory becomes a law.

Need I remind you that they laughed at...
well, just about every genius who stood at the threshold of a groundbreaking discovery.

Awesome! I bet it would have stayed right there for the rest of his time in the story.Breaking news for all Elvis enthusiasts! Previously unearthed video footage finally reveals the mystery of what happened to Dominic Greene's apple. Look carefully at 1:52 :

The 3-D version of QOS should feature the apple flying at the screen when the pants get blown off.

Wow, I could tell when I first saw the film that Elvis was supposed to be a funny failure of a henchman. I chuckled at his passion for Tosca, his toupee falling off, and the neckbrace. But this thread has just elevated him to one of my favorite characters in the Bond series. It's all so subtle too, like a really funny inside joke. I could not believe the pants thing until I saw it with my own eyes. THAT was priceless.
Aint I been telling everyone - QOS is a great film, with lots of humour.

For better or for worse, Elvis may indeed be the best thing about QOS. If only they’d spent as much time and care on the rest of the script as they obviously did with the Elvis character.
These days I’m especially appreciating the ‘incrementing severity’ design when it comes to Elvis’ buffoonery. The blunders start out so small and innocent, with a look here or a gaffe there, so as to almost look like production errors, but then the comedy gradually swells into levels more obvious to finally reach all-out absurdity at the Perle. A perfectly and precisely-crafted comical device he is.
“Merci, Elvis.”
- Dominic Greene
You said it, Dominic. Truer words were ne’er spoken!
I think it is getting to be time that I should revisit an old friend.

LOL exactly. And I'm glad to be part of the "club", Judo chop.

Heh-heh... where'd you get that?
Just an image search for Anatole Taubman...once you get past the standard QOS stills, you get to the good stuff!
You know, great thread, because I think the key to Elivs IS that he's supposed to be a comedic character. A brilliant idea to use the henchman in this way.
Shame no one explained this to the director.
Well according to Taubman, it was Forster who suggested the oddball haircut, so he had to be somewhat on board with Elvis being a comedy character.
