I did think the gunbarrel looked terrible and it did deflate the great final shot a bit. But it's only a minor thing at the end of the day.

The GB design or the fast walk?

I am not a gubarrel coinoisseur, I can't really pinpoint why I didn't like it, I just thought it didn't come off.

It's been said that the gunbarrel logo is actually the same one from the "Another Way to Die" music video (also done by MK12), but without the blue-ish tint. Those of you who have seen the film, care to verify?

To be honest, the gunbarrel went by so fast that I barely had time to register the design. Craig's walk was rushed, yet purposeful.

I can see what you mean. The bloody thing went so fast I couldn't make out if the design was the classic Binder, Brosnan Kleinman, Casino Royale Kleinman, Coca Cola, Another Way To Die music video, or a completely new design.

Just curious, for those who have seen it; does the final dot enlarge into the GB a'la Binder, or do the dots move entirely across the screen a'la Kleinman? I always thought that the Brosnan version reminded me of the old vhs pan and scan days were you would never see the dot enlarge.

Ot did the scene go by too fast to notice?

I didn't like how close in the gunbarrel was, it was effectibely a huge white dot on the screen, Craig walks really quickly, his stance is like Connery's, a little hasty and shacky. The blood is the same as CR's just not 3D

Is it possible that everyone's comments on how fast it seems is just a nature of being surprised to see it? 10-15 seconds seems like standard gunbarrel length to me, I've never actually timed one of them.

It's basically a rehash of 'The Names Bond... James Bond', sounded great, but nothing you've not heard before.

That does sound indeed awesome. First time a Bond film had a title card no? I recall the credits of Dr. No having the gunbarrel logo over it but I can't recall if the title was there too.

Can anyone explain the stance that Craig adopts in this gunbarrel? Is it like anything else we have seen from the other Bond actors?

I can't explain the stance he adopts but I think it was awful. The whole gunbarrel sequence was just something out of the Brosnan era. With CR we got something new where Craig turned and shot. QOS was just recylced crap from the past.

After the great Casino Royale title sequence I was disappointed the new guys opted for a sort of Kleinman greatest hits package. Most of this imagery we’d seen before in the Brosnan films. A film like QoS deserved something a little more in your face.

I’d forgotten they’d moved the gunbarrel. If they’d left the out completely I don’t think I’d have cared.

On top of that, Mharkin007 said it looks 'zoomed in'. Most interesting.

Yeah. I just think that you cannot see enough of the gunbarrel. Maybe it was just my cinema screen. Could anyone else see the design clearly?

You are not alone- my thoughts entirely.

AWTD Music Video Gunbarrel

That is definitely not how it looks in the film, although if you removed the bright, white light effect covering half of it it would be very close.

If I remember correctly the gunbarrel in Quantum of Solace has a matt finish effect with a minimal shimmer as it moves. It's got the wider-spaced rifling (unlike Casino Royale's). It's no more zoomed-in than the one from the Brosnan films:

http://upload.wikime...n_gunbarrel.jpg

Craig's stance is very similar to Dalton's:

http://farm4.static....029bec2.jpg?v=0

Only without the very bent right leg. He leans foreward into the shot somewhat the same.

Agreed. It only serves to remind one how passé the gunbarrel is. Time to consign it to history with fond memories.

The gunbarrel is just rubbish: It looks just like the Gunbarrel in 007:GoldenEye the N64 game.
The title-sequence was OK. But Daniel Kleinman has to return!!

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! The beloved GB must always remain, unless the series itself is consigned to history with fond memories.

Bring back the traditional GB at the start of the film. Get Kleinman to do the titles.

Agreed, removing the gun-barrel is crazy talk. Let's take out the theme and the main-titles whilst were at it... And why use the name James Bond in the next film, let's create a new character? :( There is stripping down the formula back to basics, and then there is destroying it.

This said the new gun-barrel is terrible. It's design is awful (dare I say tacky), far too quick/close. Craig deserves a better and more traditional "opening". I was looking forward to MK12's new take on things, but the more I think about it, the worse their work on this movie seems. Hopefully Kleinman will be back next time (provided he is still interested in returning). Forster, his editors and MK12 should never be allowed near a Bond film again.
