I recently saw the amazing fantasy movie 'Stardust' directed by Matthew Vaughn who also produced 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', and 'Snatch' and directed Daniel Craig in 'Layer Cake'. As well as being able to create gritty, tough gangster movies Vaughn also has amazing vision and creativity. With Campbell in Casino Royale we got action genius and with Forster in QoS we were supposed to get artsy brilliance (? - by all reports he didn't seem to deliver on that!).

For what seems will be Part 3 of this Bond Trilogy what is needed is an action director with creative vision. I vote for Matthew Vaughn.

But whoever it is - definitely want the Director to be a Brit and preferably an Englishman.

Let's get through Bond 22 first, shall we?

I want to see what they've concocted for us with Q0S in the next few weeks.

By the time 2011 rolls around we could all be dead. I want to live today and in the here and now.

I believe they were talking to Vaughn for either CR or QoS and it fell through. I see no reason why he wouldn't be capable of doing it, though.

Yeah well this board is 'Bond 23 & Beyond' what else are we going to talk about here?

Right now I feel totally in limbo - look but don't touch - reading early reviews of QoS but can't watch - its all a little frustrating. But once QoS is released doubt I will be hanging out on the 'Bond 23' board for a while.

Always loved Guy Ritchie, but his movies have such a strong personal style, that under his hands, Bond would no longer be Bond, it would be Guy Ritchie.

With Matthew Vaughn, this personal touch could be a bit lighter and therefore more suitable. Good idea.

Ritchie has made some terrible films, I haven't seen his recent on though I heard it was good. With him it could go wither way and Vaughn doesn't want to do Bond based on what someone here said, forget who.

I'd love Vaughn to do Bond, he was the prods top choice to do CR but declined after the film got delayed by an entire year. Which is fair enough, I hope they don't hold that against him.
he worked so well with Daniel in Layer Cake. I'd love to see him tackle Bond.

That's interesting. Never knew that. I always assumed Campbell (asked back, as I understand it, for every Bond film between GOLDENEYE and CASINO ROYALE) was the producers' top choice. Now, I knew that Vaughn had been under consideration for CR, but I thought Eon passed on him and not the other way round. Also, what's this about CR getting delayed by an entire year?

Regardless, having seen LAYER CAKE I think he'd be a perfectly adequate choice for BOND 23. With LAYER CAKE, Vaughn managed to get good performances and terrific visuals out of a woeful script and a small budget. Haven't seen STARDUST.

Absolutely loved loved Layer Cake. Rarified heights and all that B) Stardust was a bit puny though. If Layer Cake is anything to go by though I say bring it on.

If Vaughn got the gig for Bond 23, expect something real special. Doing Bond would be a cakewalk and Vaughn can capture the humour just right as well as the suspense and menace and we all know he can do action. Again, layer cake is a point of reference.

Wasn't a fan of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, though Layer Cake is very good. With a big budget he'd probably do ok but I don't think he's "New Era Bond" material.

Layer Cake then Stardust and now Kick B) has proven that Vaughn is a very versatile director, and considering that Layer Cake was the reason Craig was considered for Bond, i think Vaughn would be the perfect director for Bond 23.

edit: Thats the name of the film, did it really need consored?

Alfonso Cuaron or Matthew Vaughn would be my two favorites to Direct the next Bond film.

The next Bond film needs to be Directed by a SOLID experienced Director and not some inexperienced and unproven Director that the Broccolis love rolling the dice with from time to time and end up crapping out.

I take it someone didn't like Marc Forster? Well in regards to your usage of the word "experienced" I feel I should point out Forster has directed eight films to Vaughn's three. That being said, I do think Vaughn is the superior director, even if he is, technically speaking, a less experienced director.

On of the virtues of Vaughn, besides his relationship with Craig, is that "Layer Cake" was shot with a very limited budget. The production managed to get great actors and the film looked even more expensive than it was.

Vaughn's experience as a producer may also enable him to adjust to the rigors of shooting a film of this complexity and scope.

But first, we really need a strong script....

What I meant by experienced, is someone who has some experience with films that are well balanced with directing stories, mystery, drama, action, emotion, and fun.

Bringing back Forster and can going the straight action route like QOS would be a BIG mistake by the Broccolis for this next Bond film.

If they hire Cuaron or Vaughn, then all will be well....no worries...
