I guess I just find it an interesting choice in the same way that I appreciate how the title for BATMAN BEGINS/THE DARK KNIGHT only appears right before the end credits. It's a great way to send you out of the film, and if the scene right before it really leads into it the way I'm hoping it does, than it should be a really nice moment.
How are you hoping it ends, Hamsway?

I would imagine it's been put there because by the end of this story arc he's become 'James Bond'.Extremely intrigued that the gunbarrel is placed where it is... I'm sure there must be a very good reason but not a clue what!

Entirely agreed.Thank gawd! You don't need the full Bond Theme anyway.Very limited. Little hints throughout with a full play out over the closing credits. If you will indulge me in another question: how much bond theme is there in the film?
Boy Harms, we sure are agreeing a lot tonight. I gotta say I agree herThe Bond theme should only show up at a truly special moment, and hey, if we're not going to here the full thing till the end I say good for them, that's how it was done in the 60s, and that's how it should be done now.
Best news I have heard about the score thus far.

Wasn't that what everybody said about the end of CR, when he is in the pinstripe 3-piece saying TheLine? How many times is he going to grow up to be james bond?

Yep, this is the final nail in the coffin. If the gunbarrel at the end signifies him becoming "James Bond", then I imagine the IMDB review ending is certainly wrong then. Good news.

I would imagine that the beginning of Bond 23 (and, of course, all Bond films afterward) is going to relate to the end of QOS in the same way that the beginning of QOS relates to the end of CR.I would imagine it's been put there because by the end of this story arc he's become 'James Bond'.Extremely intrigued that the gunbarrel is placed where it is... There's something to be said for the final image of an origin story forming the beginning image of subsequent stories. Remember, QOS is the other half of the story begun in CR. They're one origin story, [in Kenobi voice] "from a certain point of view."

I think you'll find it's a very deliberate move to show the evolution of Bond.I'm not liking what's in that first spoiler-tag one bit.

There you go...
I, and I'm sure a lot of others, would like to know what style this gunbarrel is. In the vein of the CR design with realistic blood drip, for example, and what music arrangement is used. I'm thinking the music for the gunbarrel will be the lead in to the end credits Bond theme.
The gunbarrel...

What about the gunbarrel music, was it a dark version of the Bond theme?

kitt22,
Cheers for the review. Early days, I know, but how do you think QoS compares to CR? Which do you prefer? Also, where would you rank QoS A among the Bond films, B against other high profile franchise releases e.g. Bourne and THE DARK KNIGHT, and C against, uh, "films in general"?
Hi Loomis,
Well CR and QoS are very different films. In context CR now feels like Bond's testing first mission- he makes misstakes and pays for them. In QoS he has matured and is out for revenge. QoS is a real adreniline reide where CR was a much calmer more considered film. But again this change reflects Bond's character and I don't think it would have been right to have another CR.
Amoung other Bond films is a tough one because it feels like it is real part of the Daniel Craig series so is hard to place in the entire franchise. I would say it is without doubt in my top ten but possibly not in my top five.
I much prefered it to Bourne- and I do like te Bourne films- but I can see how some would make the connection between them. That is not because QoS feels like a Bourne film- it does not- but because of the far more action. Against The Dark Knight is hard because I felt that film had many flaws nd also the two films are so different but I would say they are on a par. From a critics perspective I can see why TDK would get better reviews but from audience experiance QoS is superior.
Other films in general... it's great!
