Looks like the Bond theme might close out QUANTUM OF SOLACE in the same way it closed out CASINO ROYALE.
I'd be happy with that.

I've always despised the way the Bond theme comes in after OHMSS' closing. Wholly jarring and inappropriate. It's a desperate move to make the audience forget that they just got the equivalent of a punch in the stomach, but is entirely ineffective. If so, that's not bad. It's always best to leave the theatre after a Bond movie on a high note, despite what has gone on in the events of the film. Take OHMSS for instance.

Part of me would have liked to have the haunting We Have All The Time In The World instrumental play the full duration, but another part of me likes the Bond theme in there, in that it gets us out of that dark, sombre situation. It lets us know that Bond will be back - and supposedly getting revenge.I've always despised the way the Bond theme comes in after OHMSS' closing. Wholly jarring and inappropriate. Yes, I agree. It's the worst part of the film when the theme starts over the closing credits. It doesn't belong there and takes the viewer out of 'the moment'.

Be careful what hearsay can tell people at this time. I imagine the theme is there a lot earlier than the closing credits.I cannot access youtube from school, but reading thtough this thread I get the impression that the Bond theme will not be featured untill the end credits again.

I wouldn't have thought we'll have another entry not featuring the theme again, that gimmick worked for CR brilliantly but the Gunbarrel will have the theme so it will feature there.
I hope Arnold uses it sparingly but I do want my DC Theme moment, he's earned it for this film.

You know we could have an new version of "African Rundown", like "Italian Rundow" (sounds cheesy i know) for the sequence in Sienna (if i'm right). Instead of African Percussion we could have something more italian, or European at least.

I think by far the better way of closing with credits would have been with total silence.

Doubt it, since the rest of the footage of Arnold composing is from his work for QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Furthermore, I believe the sound of the Bond theme is subtly different here than the one for CASINO ROYALE.It's entirely possible that that recording of the Bond theme comes from the CR sessions- I don't think we can really glean too much from this.

Yeah, from that brief snippet of orchestra, it does sound darker and a tad grungier.Furthermore, I believe the sound of the Bond theme is subtly different here than the one for CASINO ROYALE.

I guess the case could be made that it was making a statement about how Bond is destined to continue living the same loveless life as a blunt instrument of her majesty's secret service... but I still would have preferred a subtler rendition.I've always despised the way the Bond theme comes in after OHMSS' closing. The producers deserve eternal praise for allowing THAT ending to go through in OHMSS. The Bond theme blasting out as the credits roll may seem inappropriate but it never has destroyed the emotional impact the preceding scene had on me.
Rolling the credits silently, if anything, would have been more cheesey than the decision they made.

What part of that video gives you the impression that the bond theme only plays at the end of QOS?

It's all inference. The cue the orchestra is playing entitled is "Bond theme," which leads me to believe that it's a concert rendition of the theme. It also sounds like a straight-up concert piece, as well. So that leads me to believe it's an end credits piece more than anything else. I have a hard time imagining a straight-up concert version of the Bond theme playing during a section of the film, but I will concede that it's possible. What part of that video gives you the impression that the bond theme only plays at the end of QOS?
Eh, I still don't think it works even if one makes that arrangement. To make a point like that, it would have needed to be a darker, more melancholy take on the theme. What we get is big, swinging 60s Bond, with a really jarring transition (if the transition had been less bold, I think it would have worked better).I guess the case could be made that it was making a statement about how Bond is destined to continue living the same loveless life as a blunt instrument of her majesty's secret service... but I still would have preferred a subtler rendition.

I bloody well do NOT want it to close avec silence. I remember at the end of Guy Ritchie's film Revolver they did that, and it just made me leave the cinema feeling really angry. Its just a

Especially with QOS, its going to be such an epic adventure in terms of action and grit, it would do DC and the film a great disservice to end in such a way.
Im sure they wont end QOS with the bond theme like they did in CR, they only did that because it was Craig's debut and they hadn't played it yet.
