I'm confused.. wasn't there going to be 2 versions of the DVD? One a single disc edition, the other a 2 disc with the greyish cover with Bond standing alone with the massive gun? Now it appears there's only one version, using the cover from what was originally said to be the one disc edition.. but it's a two disc edition. If that makes any sense? Anyway if this is the case I'm slightly relieved, since I prefer this cover art and was going to buy both editions to have the cover *and* the special features!
...Still need to get the blu ray, though
Here's the breakdown:
US:
One-disc DVD edition - New blue background cover
Two-disc DVD edition - Teaser poster cover
Blu-ray - Teaser poster cover
UK:
Two-disc DVD edition - New blue background cover
Blu-ray - Teaser poster cover

I wasn't too warm on QOS, but just for the elements I did like about it March 24th can't come fast enough!

You know you're a Bond fan when you can't wait for the DVD/Blu-Ray release of a film even if you didn't like the movie that much.
I wasn't too warm on QOS, but just for the elements I did like about it March 24th can't come fast enough!
I personally will not be purchasing the Blu-ray on March 24. I am much more excited about the Goldfinger/Moonraker/The World is not Enough Blu-ray three pack and the special edition of Never Say Never Again than Quantum of Solace.
My thoughts on the 2008 movie did soften on a second viewing but I still rank it in the bottom five of all Bond movies. It's not a movie that I have an interest in viewing a third time.

I'll be buying it for completism's sake but also not very excited. However, nothing beats NEVER in the bad Bond category. Saw it a couple of years ago in a TNT Bond marathon and I couldn't believe how bad it was (I saw it at the cinema but back then I'd find any Bond film good).

But it looks like we're only getting the single-disc edition of the movie in Australia. I might be wrong on this, but it the case only listed the two trailers and (I think) a music video as extras.
If this is the case... very disappointing. Fox also shafted Australia on the DVD release of The X-Files: I Want To Believe (the US got a three-disc set - we got stuck with a single-disc release).

Apologies if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I was in HMV in Sydney today and they have the pre-order boxes up for Quantum of Solace - if you pre-order the film, you'll get a free 007 shot glass.

Very disappointing if this is the case, but surely it isn't! Can't be! Can it?

Just order it through Amazon US. The stuff I buy from Australia works on my US DVD players. If not, just convert your DVD player to an international standard DVD player or order an international standard DVD player (where they have converted it for you already).

Oh well, I'm focused on the Blu-ray anyway, and several other stores have yet to say what they are offering, so there's still hope for something unique.

As for which exclusive I'm waiting for, is I'm really hoping that Future Shop gets a steelbook for the Blu-ray, in the same way they had the old classic BDs they've had.

I'm a bit disappointed Wal Mart is giving away a calendar after the slam dunk of a set with the playing cards and chip they gave with the CR release a couple of years ago. Also in that they seem to come up with some nice extras for hot releases these days like shirts and statues, a calendar just sort of seems to pale in comparison.
Couldn't agree more. I'm hoping Best Buy delivers something better.

I'm interested in what Target will offer.
Yes, them too. They had a pretty nice Casino Royale exclusive.

I'm not bent on getting the 2D standard- I'll gladly snag just the 1D for the right deal, as I only buy standards as "loaners."
My main copy will be blu, along with 4 other similarly colored additions that day. Can't wait!

Yes, I went for the deal on Amazon because I figured the Quantum of Solace Blu-ray is only costing me $7 (after the $20 off) and I can sell it for twice that much on Ebay. The Blu-rays I am interested in on March 24 are the 007 catalog editions.

Oh, bring on the haters to spray their hate. Can't have any thread about QoS without them showing up.
"The movie sucked... but I'll buy the DVD anyway... and the Blu-Ray... and the double-dipped Deluxe 3-Disc Edition whenever that comes around."

Strange- though the article says the Wally deal is for the single disc edition, the pic on their site is the 2 discker. Wonder which one it'll be...
The special features listed for this Calendar Exclusive one match those for the single-disc edition and the pricing makes sense, since this exclusive copy is just a little bit more than the standalone single-disc, but less than the 2-disc edition.
Guess they just posted the wrong photo... or perhaps this calendar will ultimately accompany both editions.

Is it the same case art, but the 3-disc release gets a cardboard sleeve with the different art?Strange- though the article says the Wally deal is for the single disc edition, the pic on their site is the 2 discker. Wonder which one it'll be...

All the Quantum of Solace cover artwork can be viewed here: http://commanderbond.net/article/5987
Not positive what is under the two-disc special edition sleeve artwork.

Why should I go out of my way for a calendar. I would prefer a unique collectible such as Bond's Walther PPK or an inflatable Olga.
Oh well, such is life.
