We all knew a double dip (& more) was coming so I've already gotten over it. At least they got the trailers on this one. :( It will be great to see this in high def at home.

Yes, the trailers are always a very good thing (I wonder if they will also include all the TV spots). In fact, this in some way make more upset about the lack of it for CR; becuase itsn't a kind of tendency from onwards, motivated for the availability of this promotional material in the web, with the likes of youtube, as some argued to justify this absence by the time of CR's home video releases.

I mean, now Craig's debut (among many other, mostly good things) will be remebered as the only Bond film that doesn't have its trailers and TV spots on home video, but of course they have to put that annoying - difficult to skip- trailers from other movies in every CR's DVD/DB. Damn Sony!!

Where is the alternate ending! THAT WE WERE PROMISED!

I must have missed the fact that we were "promised" the alternate ending. :(

We we really promised an alternative ending?

What's the alternative ending?

Bond kills Yusef on screen?

I must say I am very disappointed with the amount of special features. The idea of releasing a bare one-disc version and a two-disc special edition was good (one for the casual fans and one for the diehards), but the selection of features is very poor. It seems to be only very short documentaries that have been around for months. The only good thing is that the trailers are included this time around.

Also, am I seeing the list price correctly? Over $40 Canadian for just the one-disc version? Granted, I know stores sell them cheaper, but that is expensive for a single-disc. I'm very tempted to pass on this and wait for a new edition.

it usually seems like the one disc is less of an excuse for them to give us a discount on that version and more of an excuse for them to charge us a premium for the two disc set

"Thai dubbed version only"? :)

It's obviously a made up cover for the pirated movie being sold in the Thai black market.

Yep. The mock cover itself is quite fine, nice and simple. But I’d prefer the machine gun wielding Bond image.

Double dipping is one of the lamest and cheapest forms of money making in the industry. If I'm going to buy a DVD for $30, I don't want just a film I've seen in higher quality in the cinema beforehand, with nothing else to entice me other than some lousy features I could watch on Youtube.

But unfortunately, because I'm a sucker for Bond, I'm gonna go and give MGM $30, wait 2 or 3 years, and spend another $30 for a disc of special features and a film I'll have seen so many times by then, it's just wasted. Give me some goddamn quality DVDs. Something like the Star Wars: Episode II DVD wouldn't be bad...

Well, Forster did state that it would be a feature on the DVD.

Evidently, though, EON has saw fit to hold onto that little bit of footage. Maybe because they want to have the option of using it in BOND 23, or more likely to use it as a feature on a nicer DVD release later on.

Cheers. Funnily enough, I may prefer the single disc edition cover art. I think the pose for the two disc edition is better, but I’m not crazy about that obvious plume of black smoke. They could do without it.

Brisco, where did these images come from? How can we be certain they're official? Thanks for the pictures though. They look great, I just expected something more basic like the Theatrical Poster straight up.

Gravity's Silhouette, I'm not saying you're wrong, but what makes you think it'll come out end of year 2009? It took two years for the CR DVD to get released, and it's still unclear whether it actually takes that long or they released it to boost the hype for QOS, so if they actually do wait to release this edition with Bond 23, well that's three years.

I suspect that, for the first time ever, I may not buy the first release. The double dip is such a certainty, and I would to have things like deleted scenes, that for me to buy this first release would be simply dumb. Will see if the resolve holds.

Evidently they have betrayed your simple trust.

It's an outrage.

You think that's an outrage. What about the fact that the home-made footage the tea-lady's grandson took of his visit to Pinewood (premiered on You Tube) isn't on there? We were promised that and I'm gutted we'll probably have to wait to the triple-dipped release before we see it. Damn these money-grabbing capitalists. Damn them...

Glad to see we have a confirmed date now. Shame there's not even one commentary, but I suppose that's inevitable for this first release.

Some of us may not want to hear what Forster has to say.

And some of us would. After all, no one would FORCE you to listen to the commentary if you don't want to.

Yes, it seems rather drastic to insist that because you don't want to listen to a commentary, no on else should be able to or want to.

I think both cover images are pretty cool actually. Shame we know that there's nothing "Special" about either edition, despite what the cover might say.

They're from Fox's PR department. For better or worse, they're legit. I kind of like them.

Funny that they took Olga out of the coverart.....

I'll wait till October 2010 (following the same timeline from CR) for the 3 disc edition. It's only 18 months after this first edition is out.

I'll find alternate ways to watch it in the meantime.

Personally I didn't find anything about the "Casino Royale" 3-disc edition to jump up and down about.

Oh! WOW! ALOT better than I was expecting. Thing is, I prefer the 1 Disc cover art more than the 2 Disc one.

LMAO. 1st one he starts with a pistol, walks a few metres, then has a machine gun. :(

How can you be so certain there will even be another release? CR was the only Bond to get a second release as a 3-disc special, and I happen to know this was not something that was planned from the start. The powers that be had to be talked into it. I'm not sure how the CR special sold, but if it didn't sell enough to justify the expense of making it (and there has been a decline in DVD sales overall), it's unlikely we'll see another QOS anytime soon.

Interesting. I would have thought that the lack of commentary on the initial Casino Royale disc was a sure sign that a second edition was in the works (didn't Campbell mention recording the commentary soon after the film's theatrical release?). Ditto here.

Here's hoping it happens: the three-disc Casino Royale is pure class.

True. When I contacted SPHE at the time of the Casino Royale DVD release I was infomred that time constraints had prevented Campbell from recording a commentary.

I love the Collector's Edition Blu-ray of Casino Royale. Lots of good stuff even though the picture-in-picture commentary with Wilson and Campbell sitting there with headphones on is a little on the pointless side.

Interesting. I wonder who talked them into it.... and why. But what you say chimes with other stuff I've heard.

The thing about the three-disc set is that it didn't need three discs - two would have been more than enough for all the content. Using three smacked of a rather cheap attempt to make it look more "rather stocked" than it was.

BTW, the Blu-ray SE of CR is a two-disc affair. Is the content exactly the same as the three-disc DVD? What are the differences, if any (beyond the obvious fact that if you buy the Blu-ray SE you get the movie in - duh - Blu-ray)?
