With pain or joy? The Blu-Ray one is rather nice, the DVD one is ghastly.

Latest James Bond film arrives from March
No commentary, so a double-dip is all but inevitable. But if it's as swanky a release as the new Casino Royale discs, I suppose I can't complain.

I must have missed the fact that we were "promised" the alternate ending.
Where is the alternate ending! THAT WE WERE PROMISED!
If we get to see it at all, it'll be on the 3-disc Extra Special edition.

Evidently they have betrayed your simple trust.
It's an outrage.

You really think they'll be a double dip? MGM and Fox are in charge now. Sony is out.
But, I hope you're right.

Good news. Hope the second wave to Bond Blu-Rays are released at the same time.
I believe it has already been announced that the 2nd wave will hit the same day. IT is going to be an expensive day!

I'll get the one-disc DVD now, the 3 disc when it shows up. I'd pay 13 quid to 'long term lease' QoS for two years, since it'll get watched a lot and I'll take a lot of pleasure in it. That's that.

Do we really get the DVD first here in Australia? I suppose it would make up for waiting longer for the movie in cinemas.

First one is easily fake, simply cause it has a Fox logo on the spine (even though Fox now handles MGM releases, they still only put the MGM logo on the case, except on the back). Now, for the second set, the BD only looks good, but the DVD is easily fake, because the logo doesn't look right, and it announces the actors names underneath the title in a similar typeface (with all the Bond films, except for DAD, the only actor listed on the front of the case is the actor playing Bond and in a simple byline at the top).
As for the specs of the releases, like the movie itself, seems a bit disappointing. Like, no commentary? no deleated scenes? just some basic featurettes, a music video, and the trailer? And I really was hoping, cause it's technically Fox (releasing for MGM) that we would get a digital copy for our ipods and such (guess they want us to illegally download it if we want a copy for our ipods). I can already smell a special edition when the next film arrives in theatres fall 2010 (or spring 2011).

Exactly. Ultimately, the price of a DVD (if you seek out the bargains) is equivalent to seeing it one time in a theater. And you can always trade in the old DVD when a the new one arrives. I'll pay to have one fast. Then I'll pay to have a super-duper edition later on. In the end, I will have paid less out of pocket than I did to see the movie on opening night. It's not a big deal.As has been said, a second edition is bound to follow. A shame, but them's the breaks. It's not a rip-off any more than the price coming down after a few months on the market. You pay to own it early, or you wait.

Glad to see we have a confirmed date now. Shame there's not even one commentary, but I suppose that's inevitable for this first release.
Some of us may not want to hear what Forster has to say.
And some of us would. After all, no one would FORCE you to listen to the commentary if you don't want to.

Actually, perhaps I wouldn't even buy the (potential) second edition if it wasn't for the possibility of further documentaries about filming in location, 'cause my country was one of those locations.
