1995 BMW Z3.

This American car in Britain is black, has a retractible metal roof, and was driven by the enemy but unfortunately was blown off the road. Should be easy for anyone familiar with vintage "yank tanks" (grin/duck).

OK, gonna take a stab at both open clues:

American in the Passenger seat: Ford Mustang, DAF, Tiffany Case was an American, after all, she was born there. Granted, it could also be the AMC Hornet, MWTGG, Good old boy JW was surely an American, as well. Perhaps there are even more, but this clue has been asked /answered. As for the 2nd:

My guess for the YANK TANK is Count Lippe's Ford Fairlane from Thunderball.

Assuming the above are sufficient, onto the next clue:

The kind of car not to be driving when the Cold War begins to heat up.

He was, until Kerim Bey sent the Rolls driver in the opposite direction with dummy passengers. Bond and Kerim go off to the gypsy camp as passengers in a 1960 Ford Fairlane station wagon driven by Kerim's sons. Is this the car you are referring to?

It's the taxi that Red Grant gets into at the Russian Embassy, after killing the Bulgarian driver of the Citroen used in the film. Rosa Klebb was already in the cab when Grant got into it, and it was there where she proclaimed that the cold war in Istanbul will not remain cold for very long. That taxi was a 1949-51 USA-style Chrysler product--Dodge/Plymouth, but definitely not a Desoto. I favor vintage Mopar cars but I am not quite that familiar with their immediate postwar vehicles.

This car was actually Cubby Broccoli's own car in real life, and it had a deadly appointment at the car wash.

Bond drove this car on 2 wheels on one side, no, wait, he drove on two wheels on the other side, this is confusing!

Incorrect! The Vanquish did not have the top off, just the roof open for the ejector seat trick.

Okay, so I am going LOL with this one. I know what this one is, and to quote a line from a non-Bond film, I'll never tell.

It has vynils on it
It has funny looking pattern seats
It is a bloody girly car for a product placement deal!
